- Today I'm at La Cocina Mexican Grill in Trufant, Michigan, attempting their undefeated taco challenge! Challengers have a short 25 minutes to finish a giant taco composed of meat, beans, rice, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. Winners get the meal for free, a shirt, and go up on the wall of fame. If you are unsuccessful, you pay $35 for the meal and take home leftovers.

Thanks! I got it at the last blockbuster store in Bend Oregon earlier this year! Really really cool place. They have a documentary on Netflix, and the lady from it was there. I talked to her for a bit.

I’ve seen a couple of giant taco challenges before, but not many with a giant shell like that. As an engineer, I’m sure you also appreciated the structural integrity of that engineering marvel! 🌮 But maybe not as much as you appreciated the seasoning on that beef 😅.
That said, it wasn’t strong enough to stand up against you. Not exactly a burrito challenge, but clearly Mexican food consumption is a transferable skill. Great job and congratulations on the win! 🎉

So did I! It was a staple in my life in the 90s. I went to the last open store in Bend Oregon earlier this year and that’s where I got it!

It looked both enormous and delicious. Did you even taste it much, Nathan? It looked like you pretty much inhaled it! On a side, Grand Rapids is home to a spot I loved going to while visiting my sister back in the 90's called The Beltline Bar. No idea if they have a food challenge but they featured a superb "wet burrito". Great job young man!

I am definitely familiar with the belt line bar. I lived near Grand Rapids for 4 years and a place I worked at would frequently cater from there. Their food is awesome.
