I love pranking my kids. One time I filled the ice dispenser in the fridge with Skittles. Another time I insinuated that we were going to a very boring museum but instead I took them to a baseball game with their grandparents. Every time I prank my kids they react with shrieks of laughter, not sobbing. I feel like there might be a difference between pranking your kids and psychologically abusing them.

When I was a kid, my parents had a tape of me sobbing because I didn't want to take a nap, and they'd play it nearly every time we had company. It was humiliating and genuinely upsetting. I have , since BIRTH , had a chronic illness along with my mom. This illness causes A LOT of sometimes embarrassing moments and symptoms. My mother has ALWAYS been the "camerawoman" photographer in our family. I mean we have videos and pictures all the way from the 8Os.
You think that woman has EVER gone to get a camera when anything humiliating or embarrassing happened to me? Or ANY of my family?
*ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOT!* when I was crying because I got scared of a wax figure on a school trip , she IMMEDIATELY turned it off.
when I was O7, I accidentally peed on myself because I couldn't wait until the rest stop on our vacation to myrtle Beach .... IMMEDIATELY turned off.
When we were looking through all our videos with the family about O3 years ago , TO THIS DAY , she avoided showing EVERY MOMENT no one wanted to see that was a little "embarrassing."

Omg I HATE these family channels. My father used to do things like that to me and my sister all the time. I have a lot of trauma around things that I wish I could enjoy today. Here's an example: at my favorite zoo there's a large round aquarium like, an entire building large. The building it was in was 2 stories. It was my favorite place in the world for a long time. On the bottom floor were windows into the aquarium. On the top floor, the aquarium is open so you can view the same fish from the top. This aquarium is thousands of gallons for perspective. There were signs EVERYWHERE warning not to lean over the railing or dangle anything over the railing. My father decided it would be hilarious to grab me and dangle me over the edge saying that he was going to drop me. I was so scared and thought I was about to die. I was LITTLE. This happened at 4 or 5 and I still remember it. He thought it was hilarious. I was traumatized forever. That kind of content makes me sick. Occasionally filming your family in regards to positive experiences (trying new food or cooking, traveling, etc) and for educational reasons (showing someone's experience with an illness or injury, etc) seems okay if everyone in the family is on board with being recorded in the moment. Filming them struggling emotionally and mentally, when they are not okay with being filmed, is just wrong. Continuously filming every moment of their lives every day will take a toll on them in some way. People need privacy sometimes and have their loved ones comfort and support them in a genuinely personal way. Pulling out the camera is just not helpful in any way to what they are going through in that moment.

If anyone was in Oklahoma on May 20, 2013 they would know that a tornado is nothing to make light of. On that day in Moore, Oklahoma, 24 people were killed, 7 of those people being children who were taking cover at Plaza Towers Elementary School, by an EF5 tornado. Wind speeds were clocked at 210mph (340 km/hr), the tornado was measured to be over 1 mile wide and lasted 39 minutes. It did $2 billion in damages. It literally flattened everything in its path and changed people’s lives forever. I will never forget that day and the devastation that Moore and the entire state of Oklahoma felt. This pissed me off.

The sad thing is, it's not just this 'family' channels that are doing this. I have tons of known relatives and acquiantances that do always post things on social media that is really dangerous like their children's report cards(violation of Privacy Act), post the kids in a compromising position, or even posting pictures of themselves and their families that is kind of questionable.
The thing is, when you get addicted to snapping and posting photos, it won't stop any time soon. Just like an addiction.

The most likely chance of these kids getting any help is if someone in their extended family (if they know what’s actually going on) puts on their adult pants and reports to authorities in their area oooooorrrrrrrrrrr if a large and I mean larrrrrrge amount of people report to the authorities in the families area. I know in the us there a lot of rules about jurisdiction and what authorities can or can’t look into reports if they aren’t in the same state that a report is made to. And until CZcams stops being able to make mega bucks from channels like these that get a lot of views they aren’t going to stop them. The other issue is that if a case was made that CZcams as an organisation is at fault for allowing this content & therefore is also guilty of exploiting these kids (because in my opinion some of the fault does land in their laps because without the platform the parents wouldn’t be able to exploit and abuse their kids to make money) they have enough money to hire lawyers good enough (or bad/corrupt enough) to help them wriggle out of the smallest of small loop holes I’d predict that they would get away with it and then still no action would be taken.

Kids should NOT be a part of their parents divorce whatsoever, but for one to be not only in the middle of adult matters, then going online and sharing things you can’t even comprehend yet is just so, so sad. It's weird that family channels have normalized putting a camera on their kids 24/7. Imagine pulling out your camera & shoving it in your friend's face while they cried about something they felt deeply about... if it's not okay to do it to another person you see as socially equal to you, then why is it okay to do it to kids? THIS IS WHY HUMANITY IS GENERATIONALLY MESSED UP MENTALLY because kids, 9/10 grew up in households that favored the parent's feelings, views, emotions, & actions while the child gets judged, hushed, & emotionally damaged while trying to regulate their parent's emotions & their own emotions on top of trying to survive their trauma. It's as if the parents are the actual children by forcing their kids to accommodate their emotions & wants or else repercussions pursue. Instead of teaching their children about emotion regulation, they have the child in hopes of filling their void & fix their childhood trauma, which is crappy because the child didn't ask to be here & no one can fix someone else's trauma UNLESS ITS YOURSELF, not even the fruit crotch that hangs from your tree will be able to help you. Help yourself. Save yourself.

I love that you're advocating for these children. If CZcams can block certain words or videos that look to be promoting something dangerous, why can't they put in place some protection for kids who are helpless at the hands of greedy, thoughtless parents? If someone has a crying child in a box and they're making entertainment out of it, why isn't there a report button for that? Also there's a special place in hell for people who traumatize children for laughs.

I completely understand what you mean I have the same thoughts sometimes too. The if just one person saw what’ happened in my life maybe someone would have stopped it etc, but it all relies on someone actually acting and doing something for these kids to get them the help they need and that what ever authority they go to has to actually take it seriously. And a lot of the time I find lots of people get angry at the channels that hurt their kids in this way and they vent about in the comments, out of that group there will only be a small proportion of them that will seriously think about if there is anything they can do to get this in to the right hands and then from that I feel like of the small majority of people that might actually try and take action to get someone to notice whats happening these families continue unchecked which means that either the person contact anyone that can act in that area or didn’t take them seriously. I always end up concluding that although I went though some really bad shit if this had happened back then now I would be an adult that it more traumatised by the fact that 1000’s of people watched me get hurt or humiliated and 1000’s more could see it everyday and I’d still have to deal with the original trauma…. I honestly don’t know which would have been better (well I mean not going through any of the hurt in the first place would have been the better option but I hope you know what I mean. Xoxo
