I am afraid of looking for dead/stuck pixels because once you found it you can never look the same at that screen.
I would only check if the manufacturer guarantees a 0 dead pixel on arrival
I have a tiny tiny chip on the outter layer and a hot pixel... I've long forgotten where they are and have to look hard for them
But if you look very carfully and don't find any dead or stuck pixel you are even happier than before. That's happened to me with my 55'' tv. ;D
But i mean the pixels are SO small you cant even see them while gaming
my phone has a dead pixel for some reason it goes away sometimes?.. I’m convinced there’s a virus that makes that pixel red randomly sometimes
Monitor: dusty
**wipes**
3 seconds later
Monitor: dusty again
yeah water cause dust to stick to it
🤣 laughed soo hard
bruh
I'm sure it's just electrostatic on an acrylic layer screen that keeps attracting all that dust.
Yeah we can all relate to this. Even though I'm a laptop user. I wipe my screen with cloth. Then after a day or so, it would be dusty again.
Edit: My laptop has a 17 in. display, and the screen isn't flat with what it's holding the screen.
I can now say “I’m some kind of a LCD expert myself “
That dark purplish/blue spot after pressure treatment is a pressure mark where the plastic optical layers/filters are damaged. I see it all the time in field monitors that are prone to rough treatment and damage. I've also seen dead and hot pixels or pixel groups spontaneously fixing themselves after leaving the monitor alone for a while, only to leave such a pressure mark behind. It's very clear what the cause of the dead/hot pixels was in that case. Groups of dead and hot pixels can be caused by displaced or damaged spacers in the crystal layer of the panel.
so a pressure mark on a device like a phone can eventually go away? or will it just grow?
@@im4ni_b idk
@@minilol122 i got my answer a month later, my phone dropped pretty hard and got a few black dots they even now grow but only to a certain point. Either i get it fixed or i buy a new phone
@@im4ni_b I actually got a new phone when the dark blue purple thing consumes half of my screen 😂

This is one of the top-quality channels I have come across. As a developer I know the information, Thio is sharing is quite valuable.
The lighting in this video makes me want to scream.
I got some new lights, I’m working through getting the look right. Will take some trial and error.

@TaZer you should watchs Nickelodeon
The tilt of your monitor is important too, I fixed my stuck pixels just by tilting the monitor back a little bit, pressing against it can be temperaroy only sometimes if you have your monitor tilted forward, if you're lucky, tilting it back will solve it without you doing anything.
Edit: I didnt expect to help so many people :)
Bro this literally worked thankyou
omg as soon as I did that is went back to normal thank you so much!!!!!!!!
Do you know why this can work?
I have one stuck pixel in the upper right side of my VA monitor, which way should I tilt it?
@@heydeonhere flat on its back and smoothly massage it
thank you the pencil trick helped and its definitely improved it! just noticed it about an hour ago and I've only had the monitor for nearly a year now, you'd think a company like HP especially their omen range that this kind of stuff wouldn't happen straight away!
I have hp omen too it has so many issues with the display even after buying from trusted and verified store.
I like how you wow us with your knowledge of pixels rather than just throw a random solution to pursue.
I can confirm that j screen fix worked for me on my TN panel. I left it for about 3 hours and the stuck pixel was gone. Thanks for the hot tip dude 😁
Perfect timing, my cousin needed this!
Wow, that's surprising! It's like an answer for a problem you have, is right in front of you.
@@pyp2205 Yes
He: stuck pixel nooo
Me: i have more than just a 2 black lines and some stuck pixels that go through my screen
Umm, if not personal, why
Hey, is your cousin's display fixed now?
I have only 1 pixel turns white on black color, black on white and green screen, and not visible on red and blue screen.
Is it worrying issue or normal.
I'm actually watching this video with a dead pixel on my monitor
Ha
i think most of us are
I bought an MSI monitor, there was a stuck red pixel on the right corner. After a few days, it's gone. I tried EIZO monitor test, not sure it resolved from that test but its worth trying.
Always buy monitors from stores with a generous refund policy if possible. If the problem shows up late it’s another matter but usually they ship with these problems and you can just return it without having to fight for a warranty exchange.
Yep. Also if anyone in EU, there is by law a 14 day right of return without any need for giving a reason.
What about VA? I just bought a 4K 32" VA monitor and there is one single dead pixel in the corner and one bigger spot of multiple dead pixels, decided to return it as it was a free option in the shop, but it would be nice to know more about VA panels as I'm going to look for another one.
solved ?
This video is so informational. Really appreciate man! Gonna try to fix my laptop display having a TN panel. The display turns on but the brightness is just too low, for all of the pixels on the screen. I can see the content on screen when I put a flash light directly on the screen. What do you think could solve this? Thanks!
Hmm sounds like an issue with the backlight, potentially
@@ThioJoe I see, I'm gonna try to fix it now. Thanks!
I appreciate the lesson around monitors. However none of these suggestions worked out. What did it for me was to play around the refresh date of the monitor. It was set to 60 hertz and by switching from 60 to 75 and back, the dead pixels revived (they were stuck). Hope the suggestion works for you.
I'm interested in upgrading my 28.8 kilobaud internet connection to a 1.5 megabit fiber optic T1 line. Will you be able to provide an IP router that's compatible with my token ring ethernet LAN configuration?
Just received an AOC G2460VQ6 24' 1ms Freesync... but it came with a pixel that is most visible on white and some colored background, never on black ones. Should i call the warranty? Thanks in advance.
thank you for making such a thoughtful and insightful video. You have singlehandedly saved the DIY community hundreds of thousands of dollars in repairs or user error.
see, i have this one blue pixel that just wont go away haha. no clue how to fix that.
talking about my tv tho, dont own monitors
Mine’s green like a fluorescent booger.
Nothing so far has worked
@@douggieboy4274 have you fixed it sir? or it didn't spread anymore?

I have a new ASUS XG27AQM and after 2 days 1 stuck/hot pixel appeared and noticed also a grey spot ( seems to be dust between the panel ). I tried using jscreenfix and didn't work. Today another stuck pixel appeared so I decided to apply pressure on the stucked pixels and guess what ... it did work but the dust spot didn't disappear, obviously. Will I have more issues along the way in time ? what happened to your stuck/hot pixel ?
Liked & subscribed. Kudos for actually doing the updates that you said you would!!!
I was hoping this would be another joke video, but then I realized, I am having this problem myself with my screen. I needed this information.
It's been 2 years since the video, what happened to the subpixel?
Hey thiojeo, I brought Msi monitor. When first time I make it on it was totally fine but when Second time I make it on there was 10 20 red blinking spots not constant... And they disappeared in 15 mins.. Now there are no such red points..
Should I replace it what should I do..??
I have an older lcd laptop that had what appeared to be a dead pixel. Started as a single or maybe a small cluster of em. As time goes on, it's spreading out and growing larger, like a disease. Eventually the entire screen will be dead. It does have vga output so that's how I'll keep using it. It's basically a darkweb/tor only machine, as the battery doesn't hold charge, and I can just unplug it for instant disconnect. But what causes this issue? Is it simply showing it's age? It's an emachine with an Athlon 64. I upgraded it to a dual core turion bcuz it actually has an interchangeable socket. Pretty sure I could just replace the screen, but I could probably replace the entire machine for less cost. Just curious.
Thank you! Your tutorial was very helpful. The JScreenFix by itself didn't work, but when I combined it with the monitor massage method, it fixed the stuck pixel. I was kind of surprised that it worked lol. Thank you for your help!
was your pixel green?
Thank you for the video.
My monitor is over 10yrs old, still works great and has always had a green pixel.
I noticed you are talking about LCD monitor pixels. I've got two symmetrical red pixels on a LED AOC brand new monitor. Is it a deffect or not ? It troubles me that they are symmetrical. I checked the cable on both ends and they are in place but I still got those two red pixels. Any idea ? Remember , is a LED monitor , not a LCD one. Thanks in advance!
Can this apply to phone and tablets screens too? Just asking
Well I would highly recommend going for the return route. Unless you buy the shittiest monitor on earth even a class 2 or 3 4K monitor shouldnt have a single dead, stuck or hot pixel. Classifications wanting to make it look as if dead, stuck or hot pixels are common or natural doesnt make it common or natural. Defective pixels are inacceptable.
I appreciate your impatience & honesty. So much so I subscribed. You probably saved me the trouble of going down the same overly aggressive path you took that pixel when pressing down so hard on it.
Dont put honesty and so together theres a godamn link now
@ThioJoe In my case I have an OLED display and when my monitor is on a dark background, then I see no difference but on a lighter background I see a noticeable white dot. Any ideas of what is happening or how to fix? Thanks.
Hey mister, do you know if LCD screens can get screen burn? My iPhone XR has constant image retention, and I’m wondering it can develop into screen burn in. Is there some way to fix it?
Once my screen became fully black, I turned off my computer and the next time I started it up, it was fixed and changed the wallpaper from galaxy to windows

Can i use these methods (where RGB are changing) on my IPS laptop display?
Gave the stuck pixel a swipe up and it was gone! Thanks!
You have a 99% chance of getting one stuck or dead pixel on the gaming monitor you just purchased. It's just one of those things that technology isn't perfect.
Plz I only have a one question is my monitor green colour small stuck pixel is going to increase in future or is it always be same one stuck pixel
i have got a: kodak esp c315 all-in-one printer..... why windows 10 do not support it?. where can i find the DRIVER? i really need your help.
Laptop screens with very thin diffusers can also get bright spots from too much pressure.
I think the dark spot comes from squeezing out some of the liquid crystals from the area.
yea that happened to my old laptop
The website worked for 30 seconds, but it just came back when I switched tabs. Now I call him Jacob
Hi Theo Joe can you advise me about the problem of my OLED Samsung TV there are some black spot at side and corner in my tv display. Is it fixable or need to send to repair shop ?
i think i have stuck pixels but also my screen is mapping. everything works fine its only the stuck pixels and screen mapping. please if you have any advice for that it would help out a ton because my monitor is currently unusable because it hurts my eyes. thank you
I remember when I was in the 1st grade at highschool, and I was looking on a catalog with pc parts: at the specifications of each CRT monitor, there was mentioned of how small the pixel was at the particular model.
ERRORS ARE RED

i had a 20 pixel line of dead pixels pop up all of a sudden and i decided to rub it very lightly, after i rubbed it now there are stuck pixels around the black line pretty much doubling the original size, TF happened? will it grow in size? im scarred because i just got this laptop..
@theekman to 13s ago
I just got a new tv, it works fine when watching cable or streaming. But when i play ps5 theres a stuck pixel that appears randomly and depending on the screen will disappear and reappear while playing.... When i change back to cable it goes away. Im debating if i should return as its only 10 days old or living with it
@ThioJoe how do VA monitors work with the polarizing filter?
VA works the same way as IPS.
Thanks for the info! I had no idea about the technology behind the different types of pixels
I have a WEMAX Nova 4K UHD Ultra Short Throw Projector I ordered off Amazon about a year ago that has been starting up w/ a stuck white pixel that slowly fixes about a minute after start-up - Not sure what to do, its been doing this for the last 5 days - The lens is clean and there are no visible particles on the head - Any ideas? -
How can you tell what monitor kind you have? I found my old windows computer with lots of dead pixels
I once had dead pixels on my screen too, but it wasn't the monitor. It was the gfx card's memory. I always saw 2 dead pixels next to eachother on my windows desktop, which had a wallpaper image on it. After pressing F5 to reload or refresh it, the dead pixels were suddenly somewhere else on the screen. Also, when playing video games, some triangles were cutting through the entire screen. All "broken" triangles had one corner (vertex) pointing towards the 0-point (world center) of the game world. All due to some memory-locations being damaged. No way to fix that. :P
UvU it must've been satisfying
This video I can definitely use. I rescued a Sony Vaio 3ghz HT Pentium 4 I'm going to use as a fun little XP era gaming machine it came with a sharp brand office lcd screen I'm planning to use as second display for cheatcodes/game guides It has a pixel in the lower left that is always stuck at first but about 10 15 minutes it fixes it's self
I'd say it's a stuck blue/green pixel
Hi there
Could you please let me know how to fix(repair) the white stucked pixels on my Samsung LED smart tv that caused after I buffed the scratched screen?
There is about 20 bright white dotts that create a 1"(inch) line. The stucked pixels color do not change.
I would be so grateful if you can help to resolve the problem
Kind regards

So I have an acer monitor that I had for about a year till my pc setup was built and my pixel on the other hand is pink and only shows in bright screens and barely shows in dark screens! I was just wondering will any of those suggestions in the video still work?
Stuck pixels are weird. Had a couple of them in the past and was able to fix both of them because they were just stuck. A quick Google search for a pixel exerciser which basically is a little box that flashes different colors quickly to exercise that pixel can be placed over the bad pixel and surprisingly if it is just stuck with a color on it, in my case it was green both times, it does fix it. Neat quick easy do-it-yourself fix.
Dead pixels truly suck though. usually a certain number of them have to be dead or you're just forced to use it and rage.
EDIT: after watching the full video you reminded me that I once had to massage a dead pixel back to life as well. Yes really weird but it does work. I had a stuck pixel once and I tried with a microfiber cloth very carefully and gently massaging the small area it was located at being careful not to press too hard because you don't want to see a rainbow effect on the LCD and damage your display. Massaging the pixel I can confirm also does work as well. I've done it, it worked.
So the tldr version for anyone who has trouble with a stuck pixel of a specific color, try the j-screen fix he recommends, I've had it work in the past. I've also had massaging the pixel work as well. I would try Jscreen fix first to avoid touching the display. As long as the pixel isn't completely dead the good news is knowing the right information as he provided in this video you can take Brian and fixing it yourself because often you might get lucky and you can. Good luck everyone with stuck pixels, we feel your pain.
you’re giving me so much hope 😭
yeah. i left it on for so many hours that stupid green pixel is still stuck. this is the third monitor in a row i had issues with. i guess i am cursed... i hate monitors
@erbsenkaffee8720 haha, bro, I've tried 5 monitors last 2 months and they all HAD AT LEAST ONE FCKING DEAD PIXEL. So, you're not the one who cursed :DD
@@vopseleacrilice3062 at least you can send them back right? It was too late for mine haha. Hope you'll have more luck in the future
since the video shows jscreenfixer in it technically just watching the video has a chance of fixing it
A small chance, as the actual jscreenfix changes every pixel, but he was filming it, so it is probably a few pixels
@@LatvianVideo I know I only said there was a chance
Could I apply what I’ve learnt here to a Nintendo DS Lite? Mine’s got a lot of dead pixels…
can i replace a bad lcd screen with another lcd screen that is the same size, the same resolutions and the same number of pins?
Are the polarizers why it looks different colors from different angles?
You have a TN panel which is why it’s doing that
I recommend getting a IPS instead

I have a black pixel that I presumed was dead. I hover my mouse over it and it's gone so I have no idea what's going on
It worked for me years ago (more than ten) on a very cheap lcd tv. I had a permanent and bright magenta pixel almost in the center of the screen. Tapping the pixel for a while with my bare finger solved the problem for a month, and then it came back. I did the same procedure for a little bit longer and it desappeared forever.
I just got a small cluster of maybe 4-5 stuck (light blue) pixels on my screen in the main viewing area of my IPS monitor while playing Prey 2017. I was terrified but a pc restart seemed to clear it up. I've never encountered this with any monitor before (using gigabyte G27Q). Hopefully this doesn't happen again :(
How's your monitor now? It got worse coz I bought my monitor yesterday. I'm thinking if I could return for replacement.
Hey thioJoe, I want to reduce my mouse pointer size on my Acer Aspire 5 laptop, whith its size on default, the smalest size posible throught windows this 2021. Is there a way to do that without instaling anything?

Lol
JScreenFix worked perfectly! I had a frozen red sub pixel on my brand new monitor and I tried the web site for an hour or so and now it’s gone. Thank you so much for the vid
Hi man, idk if you re gonna see this comment but i have a big problem. I had a lot of dead pixels and i tought it was from the monitor, i bought another one and is the same thing, i think is from the gpu or the ram and i don't know what can i do. If you can, help me and sorry for my bad english. Thanks
How do you remove a burnt in image or can you just not? I left a game on while I went eat, was only afk for about 40 minutes and when I came back the white pixels from the image is burnt into the screen
I once had a moving cluster of black pixels. Turned out, it was a thrips bug which somehow went between the glass panels.
Fortunately, it did not die, but found the edge of the screen.
If I had pressed on the screen, I might have killed it (and spilling it's internals).
Best way to handle dead/stuck pixels, is to develop poor eyesight, so that you don't notice. It's worked for me - and I can still read text, so long as it's 34pt or larger.
Thanks for the technical explaination, a very light touch on a stuck pixel on a TN screen (HP 27xq) made it vanish instantly.
I have an ageing LCD that has a bright spot. They're not stuck or hot... it's more like an area about the size of an eraser on the back of a pencil that kinda looks like the backlight is too bright, just right there. It doesn't show at all if the image is black there. It's the same regardless of what colors aside from black are shown.
Any tips before I take my laptop apart abd shell out for a replacement panel?
I'm willing to try risky things at this point
What about the VA panel? is it like the TN or IPS?
TN
Ips: unplug the monitor, big win! :D
my laptop screen got a red dot which is only visible in black background when the brightness goes up
but it is not visible on white, blue, or on other backgrounds
is it a serious problem?
Thanks now I see all the messed up pixels on my monitor. I never gave it a thought until now.
Thanks I needed this, I threw my mouse at the monitor but there were no cracks just the the stuck pixels on it

Has anyone got a gaming monitor and suddenly see a milisecond of dead pixels
Hey Joe, I bought an LG 24GL600F and today I tried it. It has two pixels that are near each other, one is red and when I put a red thing on it it turns black, other one when is on a shite background is just green, and turns red when on a red background. Those are examples, it turns like into different colors depending on the background. Red pixel stays red and black almost with all combinations. I asked to change it but I dont want to wait like a month or two weeks. What do you think I should do?
What did you do?
