- This real time pinstriping practice video follows along as I create the first part of a design, experimenting with design ideas outside my normal move. Excellent video. When the top part was done (around 19 minutes) I started to think that it looks familiar and then Googled the Yosemite Sam - same angry feeling.

I’ve been striping for about 6 months now and was wondering what’s the advantage to practicing on a piece with grid lines. When I’m going to do a car or collectors item, there are no grid lines. I find practicing without them more advantageous for me because I’m already used to making things symmetrical with my own eyes.
I rarely use them, but know folks that do all of the time, and draw them out on cars and stuff. Gotta figure out what works for you. Nice to be able to do both and have options.

Have you ever tried flipping the brush to fatten/blunt the ends of lines? It’s a tip I got from one of the greybeards up here.
Another fun thing I like to do is flip the panel for each color, so start your next color with the panel upside down from the first color.
I used to do that, and actually forgot about it. Thanks for.the reminder.

How do you cut the panels clean?
Score it using a metal straight edge and a box cutter. Then snap on the edge of the table. Like cutting sheetrock.
What kind of paint are you using?

Couple of questions ,do you ever do car or m/c shows that you paint vehicles on the spot?I think that I’ve heard your name,but after watching you work up a design, I would have to assume that you’re new to pinstriping, am I incorrect?
This is me trying to work up a design with a different approach than what I feel I have recently got in habit of doing. For the past couple of years I have worked over 20 car shows a year. It feels like I have started to pull the same moves again and again. Feeling like I was in a bit of a rut I guess. Trying to spend a little time here and there slowing down and rethinking my approach to design. I started pinstriping around 04. I didn't take it very seriously until around 8 years ago or so. I've been doing it for a living now in combination with automotive art and illustration full time for a little over 5 years. I would still consider myself to be relatively new. Always a big fan of your work, tools, and what you have done for the craft. I have been seeing your work since before I first picked up a pinstriping brush.
@@JackFlemingArtistry it’s certainly been an interesting career, I’ve gotten to know a lot of talented fellow artists,I kinda miss the traveling all over to stripe at shows,still have a lot of memories. Recently finished a thirteen year restoration to Von Dutches Bus/ workshop//studio, gave his family teary eyes, excellent response..now I need to sell it ,so if you know of someone that may have an interest…
@@stevekafka that is a pretty unique piece of history. I can't think of anybody that I know off the top of my head. I would imagine that it could draw a lot of interest at the right auction, but that always seems like a bit of a gamble.
please stop apologizing to the audience and or critics its cringe and the only thing i dislike about your channel other wise your videos kick ass but for real for the love of god stop saying sorry and or apologizing in anyway to the audience/camera you dont need to worry about shit like when you move your chair like that while speech does absolutely nothing to benefit the video or teach anything all it dies is make you look subservient by worryin too much about what anyone will think. your good at your craft act like it bro your the man you dont owe anyone an explanation for shit expecially on a free video your givngn the world
