Love watching you create your art Jack! Very cool to watch the process. I'm a proud owner of a couple of your prints now! Might have to get a third!😉 I'm a inspiring pinstriper who is just beginning. Love your videos!
@Alanpegg74 Thank you. I realized recently that these are probably my favorite thing to create. Really hoping to be able to put more time to making more of them.
I love the idea of a truck hood for an awning over the door. Nice.
@ronjon5386 wish it was an original idea, but I have seen it done a few times in real life, and thought it would be cool to include here. Pretty much everything in this is based off of things I have encountered in person. You draw what you know.
Super Nice. 👍👍👍

I always have a problem when thinning the color. Either not enough, and it kind of streaks on me, or too much and it doesn't produce sharp corners in block lettering. I'm just a beginner, so I appreciate any advice. Did you previously thin the Ronan White paint? Thanks again!!!
@scottymakerdude3827 sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. It all depends on the weather and how the paint feels in the brush. Comes with time. Keep at it.

Loved this as I'm retired now and made my living custom painting and as an Art Teacher. A trick I did many moons ago was take a Paasche mdl H with a number 5 fluid nozzle to spray the sizing. It allowed me to lay a flat/smooth base for the leaf. Nice post ...
@airbrushken5339 I have been wanting to give that a try. Curious about reducing the size and dry times when doing so. Going to need to experiment.
@@JackFlemingArtistry I used "Linseed Oil" to slow it down and sprayed at about 18 -20 (MAX) PSI. If you reduce it, as you would know it depends on heat and humidity. I worked in Detroit until 1979 where I was invited to teach airbrush techniques here in Australia. In Detroit, where I worked I had a spray booth built by "Devilbiss", waterfall, heat lamps, dehumidified ... perfect ... in Australia, (Sydney) I did a lot of Bikes, in a simple duck fan, dry booth (it get's hot here) and I pinstriped a lot of trucks in the yards... tough job, even hit in the head by "Dive Bombing" Magpie birds!!! (seems they were nesting near. Now I just work in my studio, doing reverse gold leaf glass work and my paintings. The Doctor's say it's great for Troopers with PTSD (2/502 Infantry, 101st Airborne, Vietnam). I do miss doing large mural work, but rated at 100% disabled, ladders are a no-no... I'm glad that there are people still producing nice work, be safe...
@@JackFlemingArtistry Another side note, I tried a water based size (not gum) an art supply company brought in. I was doing an "airbrush demonstration" for Olympus airbrush co (how old am I...LOL) . I tried but you could only reduce it with water or acrylic binders.. I gave up on it, but a mate at the TAFE (trade school here) said he had good luck with it... something to consider. Sadly I have no memory of the brand. I still buy most of my leaf supplies from London or from "Letterheads". Flew to the states with my Australian Wife before covid and we went to the MACK Brush co in MI and I spent WAY TOO much on new brushes.. an amazing display there of other people's works, including one from "Big Daddy Roth" ... worth the trip.
I use to draw, doodle whatever quite a bit. Went away from it many years ago for other interests, pretty much lost my touch with it. I just find it interesting to watch the process. Also a car guy. Thanks for sharing your work!
@disco853 I do this full time for a living, and still love to just sit and watch people draw or paint or sculpt. It is mesmerizing.
How did you transfer lay out?
I drew it out on paper and then transferred using Saral paper. I have a lot of.videos showing the process.

@ftcdesignsart awesome. Thank you for watching, and for commenting.
Thoughts on pulling the tape after laying down the size? Does this reduce hard edges?
@@mutchumbo I assume it would. However, if you have any tape bleed, it will stick to it. Also, if you are turning your leaf with any kind of abrasive material, on top of a glossy surface, you will get scuffing outside of the leaf. That is the main reason I pull the tape after. I usually knock down the edge with a 100% cotton ball after pulling tape. I have doctored up ravor blades to save the edge before too.
I like it, keep doing it please.

@williekaufhold4453 thanks. Been playing catch up on customer work, but hope to get back to this series soon.
Thanks for sharing your testing! I've been testing different "lettering" brushes for the past couple months, and found a few i like. Now, im off to start testing scroller/liners! Lol But, like you mentoon in the video, it's a lot about the feel even if the results are the same. No real way of sorting that out without some testing.

Do you actually notice a difference using the thread tape? My Alphanamel always dries up in the PET like bottles they come in. Never thought of using thread tape. I even put the red stoppers they put under the lids back when I close it back up, but even then it still dries up. Worse then in the can even. Just get a little skim in my 1shot cans and others. Got a couple full bottles of alphanamel that are pretty much ruined from it.
@leebrock8386 I put pipe tape on it for peace of mind when it comes to leaking. I keep my bottles upside down, and have less skin because of that. They will still skin. It is the nature of the paint. You can filter the paint as it comes out of the tubes by putting a mesh screen over your cup if you put your paint into cups when you paint. Kafka sales some, or you can get them other places.
Gotcha makes sense. I do the same thing with the mesh, pretty much have to with the alphanamel once it starts to get a little thick. I just dont get how the whole bottle goes bad. Like literally turns solid lol I figured the aggrivating/messy stopper would help, if I left it in. But either way in or out the bottles of alpha go bad.
@leebrock8386 I could be wrong, but I think the Alpha has more drying agents and more pigment. Those factors may lead to faster drying. I have had Alpha and did have it dry faster, but not like you mention. I did keep mine upside down though.
Thanks for another great tip Jack, do you recommend a brand of bottles
As long as they are the right kind of plastic they should be good. I used to get mine from SKS Bottles, but recently have been getting them through Amazon.
Excellent procedure! Saves a lot of paint in the long run and produces the least mess.
I like bottles for fast access to paint and quick color selection.
The Camaro one looks real
Thanks
Funnels are really cheap
You have to clean them and they aren't cheaper than a piece of magazine paper
I have nothing against store bought funnels. I keep a plastic one with my cans of paint, and a stack of filtered disposable paper funnels there too. Just chose not to use one this time. Wasn't necessary this go around, and I didn't feel like cleaning the plastic one. It's nice to have choices.
@@Chad-Giga. Really I would never have known that scrap paper was cheaper then buying a funnel... well I guess I learned something.
@@JackFlemingArtistry I've did that several times with paints, oil even gas in a pinch.

I am going to see if I can find a matching red nail enamel for Alberta plates which remained the same color for decades!

Agree. Unfortunately those days are gone.
100plates.txdmv.gov/page/Plates_and_Prisoners.html
How do you perfect fonts like that? I understand it’s practice and experience but I’m curious about how you learned it.
I have a long ways to go, and a lot is on the job training. But, I use lettering books to learn a lot, such as the Speedball manual, I prefer old editions. Learning to draw letters first helps a bunch too.
This should be a series of 50 videos of you peeling tape 😃❤️

Sweet. Glad you hung in that long.
So cool man !! Is that imitation leaf or real? What do you use to clear over it?
Imitation. I use a 2k clear.
Hi! I’m brand new to sign painting and very interested in using this enamel paint for a project. I have an MDO plywood board that is unfinished (no prime, no paint). I have it cut and sanded, nothing else so far. Are there particular products and brands you like to use for the edge sealing, primer, and paint prior to applying the enamels paint? I’m just hoping you might point me in the right direction before I start buying those materials.
I usually prime with oil based Killz. I seal the edges with a printable exterior caulk.
