Followed your procedure and turned out awesome. Pretty much shy of 4 qts
Sweet! Great to hear!
used to be so easy to do drain and fills on the older Odyssey's Honda designing now to make sure it enough of a pain in the arse to take into someone to do.
That’s why I made this video. Doing my best to make it easy for anyone!!
Great video as always. Did the same job on a 2.0L turbo 10-Speed Acura RDX.
Thanks!!
I'm getting close to doing this on my sister's 23 MDX. I assume you jacked up the car on 4 stands and leveled? How much of a pain was it to access it on the floor?
Thanks for the info. I only have 19.988 miles on my 2020 honda odyssey
You’re welcome! You have a ways to go before any service is needed.
Great video. I need to do mine. If I don’t have it up on a lift, can I fill the fluid from the top in the engine bay and not use the pump to fill from below?
Thanks! You don’t have to do it on a lift, but in my opinion this is the best way to do it. You can do it this way using a floor jack and jack stands.
It would be possible to feed a tube down from the top, but you will still need to access the fill hole from below. In the end I think the few dollars the pump costs will be money well spent on making this job easier.
I’ve fed a tube from top down for mine, I’ve done it twice so far and not even as precise as this video. I’ve used rhino ramps and eyeball fluid level by measuring volume. I don’t recommend doing what I’ve done tho. I don’t even bother with the gear change either. Also each time, the fluid was clear and no sign of color change. 60k intervals twice. Again, I do not recommend doing what I’ve done.
Nice!
Thanks for watching!
I had no luck with that transfer pump. Glad I bought an extra quart. I went with the quart bottle pump and squirt type. Even going slow the transfer pump just made a mess.
Glad you found something that worked for you. Some vehicles are definitely more of a pain than others to fill up.
Hi how many miles need to change the transmission fluid if the car is brand new?
I don’t have an owners manual in front of me, so I would recommend referring to that, but 50K miles is a pretty good rule to follow.
I just paid $131.00 for 4qts of Honda 3.1 , can't believe the 10 speed fluid is that much cheaper. The 9 speed doesn't have a magnetic drain plug either
$131 is out of hand! I can t imagine what they would have charged to do the service. :(
