    i have a 2018 - i don't go to Honda for nothing because they are crazy expensive. i had my fluid drained and filled at 73k miles. i am not at 92k miles. how often should i change the ATF? I spoke with the shop that did it, they recommend every 60k per guidelines. i hear some people say 30k miles.

      @Cargorage  Před 2 měsíci +1

      60k i would recommend . For my car normally if the manufacture says 80k then ill go 40k. Thats just me doe.

    I tried to remove the fill and the lower side plug and I couldn't budge either one. I'm going to take the Acura MDX to a local mechanic and see what they can do. I bought a new hex head plug for the side. From what I have read the thread size is a 18 mm x1.5. what a pain!

    • @Cargorage
      @Cargorage  Před rokem +1

      Yes, they are a bit of a fight to loosen. I used a 1/2 inch xtra long ratchet to undo once before. Or if you have a 3/8 ratchet extendable, that will do just right.

      @@Cargorage , I took the car to the local mechanic and they got it done. The car shifts great now and the gas mileage is already looking good. I should be able to do the next fill and drain a lot easier.

    What did you use to check transmission temperature besides running it at 2500 rpms for 5 minutes

    • @Cargorage
      @Cargorage  Před rokem

      I was looking at the tcm datalist on a scanner. That 5mins is just rough guess from cold engine. BUT IT'S BETTER to drain the fluid at operating temperature. So make sure to check the datalist if u have a scanner.

      I used scan tool, in the datalist look for (transmission fluid). If you have access to scan tool great if not.
      From cold engine, run it for 5 minutes or less. It should reach spec temperature.
