What a beautiful song, what a beautiful version, what a beautiful movie.
Bittersweet perfection!!
That's it! That's the tune heard several times throughout this amazing film, one I've watched at least fifty times. The kiss scene under the bridge, Satie's Gymnopedie, Gena's performance, and this tune - all together a perfect storm of a powerful film, unknown to most.
Thank you so much for noticing, Dan B, and for sharing your enthusiasm for this superb film.
Another Woman is one of my favorite Woody Allen movies. Just finished watching it again for the first time in quite a while. I haven't watched it fifty times but it's definitely a movie that's well worth revisiting. Woody has written so many great parts for women and the role he gave Gena Rowlands to play has got to rank right up there with the best of them. I'm also a big admirer of Interiors, his first serious dramatic movie.
Dan B what is wrong with middle America?! They just don’t GET IT!
Yes, in my top ten, made more amazing because of later revelations about Allen. But it’s a very insightful story.
The score is extraordinary.
Best thing about Woody Allen's movies is his taste in music.
No doubt about that! There are other things, of course. But what bewitched me from the start were the soundtracks
One of the best things. He's also a great and highly observant writer.
*One of his best things
100% Agreed!
I love the atmospheric quality of this film.
Too beautiful!!! The piano never sounded so good!
Wonderful composition .. and this is just the chorus 😁🎶
When I hear this song, I think of the past memories of my long ago traveling days. But it’s not over yet.
thank you! thank you"""""" you don't know how much i've been searching for this
Absolutely beautiful song. Love Kurt Weill.
Just wonderful! Thank you!
Sublime
Thanks much for finding and providing this song. One of the important pieces from the movie I frequently revisit. I also just noted CZcams considers the movie itself a "comedy", that couldn't be more inaccurate. It's a drama that basically lacks any comedic element.
Yes, I’ve seen that description on Amazon as well. Not exactly a “laff riot” like “Love and Death.” I often hesitate to recommend it even to serious people because it is so emotionally charged and hits sensitive subjects like abortion, adultery, divorce, withholding parents, etc which most people cannot discuss without screaming these days. Could Allen have foreseen a time when an abortion could not have been mentioned in connection with regrets?
It is a deeply unsettling film, certainly for this baby boomer.
This is superb. Thanks a lot!
amazing...
I am from Bibao, BTW.
I am from Bill's Beer Hall, btw
Where can I find the piano sheet music?
Don't know if sheet music is available for this particular instrumental adaptation. But the actual song, "The Bilbao Song" from the musical HAPPY ENDINGS by Berltolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, has openly available sheet music for voice and piano.
@@swr2777 Hi. I am a music publisher and I'm working on a piano sheet music book featuring some of the best music pieces from Woody Allen's movies. Bilbao Song will be one of them - love this rendition by Bernie Leighton. Cheers !
When you set up a major mode and then drop down to the minor 3rd in the melody you don't want to give away that little despondent twinge by introducing the minor mode in the accompaniment ahead of time like Leighton does.
Anyone knows where I can get this piece of music please?
Hi, THX. I uploaded this some time ago and could certainly send you the file. Also, I believe Twilight Time just released this on Blu-Ray with an isolated score track. Either way, let me know if I can help.
That would be appreciated!!! same user name at gmail. Thanx!!
Excellent! Just sent. :)
where can one get the score?
Great question. So far as I know, the score/soundtrack has never been released as a standalone album/CD. There was a comprehensive Woody Allen filmography soundtrack album that had several of the titles used in the film, but they were different recordings and not the same ones we're used to hearing. However, there was a limited edition bluray of the film (which I don't have, sadly) that had an isolated score track. I think that's your best bet.
Thank you. I ment the notes. Where can I get the sheet for piano:)
Long Lee, had you any success in acquiring the sheet music?
watched the movie and fuck me im sad now
Hey, now. Savor what went right...it's beautiful in every way, and it also ends on a note of renewal and hope. :)
