My dad always was a really smart guy growing up but his dad passed away when he was 12. He has 8 siblings so he ended up studying economics in college to be out of school in 3 years to support his younger siblings. None of the 9 siblings ("the trunks") could afford to become doctors. Now, NINE of their kids ("the branches") are doctors including me who is in medical school.

My story is almost the same. My Mum got to see my degree graduation, but 2 years after she passed away while I was doing my master. I had a dream to overcome our situation, better life.I got lost when she passed away, I felt like I didnât have any reason to continue anymore.
She stop leaving her life for her children and didnât leave long enough to benefit from her hard work.
Today I am working but somehow I feel incomplete.
To all hard working Mum out there, you are appreciate and you are our inspiration.
I hope you find your way back to make your life complete , whatever that may be. You made your mom proud, and you should feel proud for doing that. She would want you to be happy.
Just take courage in God's word, in him we are complete. It is hard but what can we do other to keep trusting God for the remaining part of our life.
I'm so sorry. I defended my master's project the same week we buried my dad. He was my motivation through school. He would turn off the tv or radio just to listen to my complaints about work. He would visit me at the lab or just drive me anywhere i needed to go... and he did not even live to see me graduate. I am conforted that he knew Jesus and he is with Him now. I pray you find comfort and are able to achieve your goals. Some days are harder than the others. We will pull through. Sending you huggs all the way from Nigeria.
I am now a registered physician. It was my father's dream to become a doctor but he was not able to enroll to medicine before because they did not have enough financial support. He took BS-biology as his college course, So instead of pursuing medicine, he worked as an accountant after he got his college degree, which was totally differrnt from what he studied in college. He did not force me to become a doctor but he told me that i had the potential of becoming one and mom told me his story and so i did it. Finished med school for him.
Thanks dad.

I cried when I saw her mom dropped to her knees. Iâm a 27 year old who just finished my undergraduate. When my father got sick in 2011, me and my 2 brothers had to stop college. He was in and out of the hospital and in 2014 the doctor said his heart condition is not good - and that he could experience an attack anytime. Me and my brothers went our separate lives and worked different jobs (Fastfood chains, call centers, etcâŠ). In 2015 I was accepted on a well-paying online job that allowed me to pay my rent (I lived independently at that point), and it gave me extra time to slowly take university courses and enroll on a degree granting program. It took me 5 years because I had to dabble between my classes and time for work. There were times I only had to sleep 2 hours a night because of the workload and the school paper requirements. Fast forward 2020, I finished my studies, and got my degree. Sadly, due to the pandemic my dad was not able to witness my graduation rites. But hopefully next year he will. That would be a great gift for him.
Now, Iâm trying to find a new job. And will then help my brother get to school without him needing to work.

@Rafael Arturo Mateo NĂșñez I think that the US makes it more competitive because theres not as much of a need, so they weed out extra people. In the future of DR, to limit the number of people applying, I'm sure they'll create more requirements. That's not the case right now probably because there is a need for more doctors. Aphro actually there is plenty of need in the US, in fact there should be more medical schools opening or larger class sizes imo. Undergrads have to jump through 1000 hoops to get accepted to medical school nowadays, which is why there are shortages everywhere, especially in hospitals. Itâs not as noticeable if you live in a big city, but trust me, the demand definitely outpaces supply year after year.

Oh man, this got me. My mother is one of 8 children from Costa Rica. Against all odds, she was able to get her bachelor's degree there and was the only one in her family to finish high school, let alone college. She moved to FL with my father and had me and my younger brother here, hoping to provide us with a better life and more opportunities. Of course, that came with great sacrifices. All she ever asked of me is to get an education. My academic path has not been as straight forward as we all had hoped. With bouts of depression, anxiety, and overall indecisiveness of what to major in (switched majors so many times đ€Šđ»ââïž), I have not been able to give my mother that satisfaction of seeing her daughter graduate with any degree. At 29 I decided to go back to school and try to finish my degree. But I am struggling with online schooling during this pandemic (as many others are as well) and have been so close to just withdrawing. Watching this video brought me to tears. What I want more than anything is to give my mother and father the satisfaction of seeing me graduate. Watching you achieve such an amazing goal has lit a fire in me to do the same. I desperately want to be a speech pathologist and I've always been terrified of graduate school but that is my goal. Funny enough, UCF is the school I dying to go to! I'll take that as a sign to keep pushing and not giving up. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing such a beautiful story with the world. You are a true inspiration!! I cannot imagine how fulfilling that must feel. If my dreams were sacrificed to see that my daughter could have hers. How selfless.
Yup...I figured this would make me cry!
Me too lol
@theadorninggoddess not the ugly cry..now that made me laugh...đ
@theadorninggoddess You had company!
God bless you!
Peace, Lynne đđđ
A proud Dad is a good thing. A proud Mom? Heartstopping and inspirational. Good job Kid!
I'm always happy to see other people succeed in their journey
Iâm going to school because I canât wait to see my mothers face im 28 years old and I have a long way to go but I want to make sure that her hard work in this country if worth it. Every day I look forward for that day this made me cry!!!
You got this, best of luck on your journey!
Iris, please review the rules of punctuation! It's a necessary foundation in life! I'm saying this with care and kindness! All the best to you!
Believe me I know them just took the hardest English Class didnât have the need to do it on CZcams. But thank you so much
@@lisahinton9682 You should change your name to the Punctuation Karen. SMH
@@HerMajesty1
Oh, wow, so funny. You should change your name to Boring And Predictable. YAWN.
Literally all we want as parents is for our children to succeed in whatever they choose.đđđ» Beautiful moment
not all though
@@-...................- *all of the good parents
@Leonard Johnson my mother who left me for almost 17 years now decided to make amends with me by spending time with me just abused me during this quarantine. my body is bleeding all over, i shouldnt have followed here to her place. i'll be going to my hometown next week when shes not home to avoid getting my blood splattered around again. also, im days away from becoming a 17 year old guy, and this is what i get before my birthday; domestic abuse.
Not all parents
@Leonard Johnson just like my mother. Men need to stop having children and disappearing and take some responsibilty. It takes 2 to make a child and the ones that dont want to stay always seem to choose the worst heifers to sleep with.
I go to UCF and working towards a doctoral degree as well. My mom always wanted to be a therapist but had to leave Cuba to give us a better future. I am trying to make her proud. This hit home, thank you for sharing this.
You should live your own life. Your mother has her own path and you have yours. Unless you have a passion for this area of study, that is. Who gets to actually live and enjoy life if everyone is sacrificing? We are in the Aquarian Age; not the Piscean Age anymore where people are martyrs.
"Lo que no hizo el tronco, que lo hagan las ramas."
What a beautiful quote.
My mother brought my siblings and me from D.R in '76 and boy did she sacrificed a lot (even physical abuse by my youngest brother's dad). So I make sure to thank her each moment I can. I obtained an associate degree in Paralegal Science 2015 but I continue to march forth for the Castro/Martinez legacy.
This made me cry & I'm a grown man, Congrats to the Mercedes family, the circle has been completedđżđžđčđșđ·đ„đ
I am a 300Lb factory maintenance tech and this made my eyes sweaty too.
This is literally why Iâm getting my doctorate
I want my family to feel proud too
Same. Though they don't know I'm going for it.
You should do it for yourself not your parents
Do it for yourself. Real parents will be proud of you regardless of what you do. I failed college and my dad was kinda disappointed, he wanted me to graduate with a degree but, after, he told me, in this day in age, I don't need a degree to be successful and I'm heading towards that, my dad see the effort I'm doing and is proud. So don't try to please your parents.
@@ennvee1989 thank you for saying that, but Iâm also doing it to honor my parents, myself, and my descendants đ€
@@samlung2724 thank you for your words! I actually am getting my doctorate for myself and also to honor my parents. Itâs the only way I can say thank you for all theyâve done for me. Weâve gone through so much. Thatâs why I want my parents to see me get hooded đ
Why Iâm crying đą Oh God
I pictured my kids inside her. As a parent what makes you happy more than this. Proud of you sister.
When I get my PhD, the only one who will cry non stop, would be me. But that's enough motivation to keep going.
All the very best and good luck with it. Don't think u will be the only one who will cry for ur success, everyone has something good to offer for our society so ur PHD is going to help many of us. So it's a win win situation for u and our society. Have a good day and May god bless u with good life.
@@wingsbroken well said!!!
I am convinced CZcams chooses the biggest crybabies to send these videos to.
Yolanda Giraudy I agreeđđ
Im definitely one of them..
Same đ€§
Yup!!! For sure.
Agreed đ
You know when any older parent falls to their needs..... they are so proud and NOTHING tops that feeling
As a person with a PhD, I donât know how she did this (earn a doctorate without telling her mom). I cried to my mom too many days (and needed to borrow money too many times) to earn my degree in secret, lol.
I have gone from degree to PhD without mentioning. I do not have ceremonies for my graduations.. I just keep going. Just keep going, and keep going
She had a supportive husband.
@ Saga thatâs true. Plus sheâs a nurse and could work and still earn a great living while pursuing the doctorate (or masterâs) in nursing. Many nurses do which is why nursing is such a great field of study. You can work and earn a living wage while you go to school in nursing even if you start as a cna.
Why did you cry ??
This is so beautiful . I canât stop crying now . Iâm almost done with my bachelors and on to my masters my mom thinks Iâm lying I canât wait to show her my bachelors as I am a former drug addict and alcoholic I figured I can make her a little proud by doing this to balance out the headaches I caused.
Congratulations keep pushing.đđââââ€â€â€
Congratulations đđ
Congratulations you can do it!! đ€đ
You got it, KEEP BEING GREAT!!
đȘđżâ€ïž
You are doing great đ đ đ đ đ â€
So beautiful made me cry. So proud of you doing this not only for yourself before your mama you are awesome you rock.
As a freshmen in college, that crazy to know she was struggling and never complained. College is really hard. Congratulations đ„°đ„°đ„°đ„° youâre an inspiration for women everywhere.
When her mom dropped on her knee , my gosh i can not breath and crying....Im soo happy for them. .God bless them both đđđđčđđđ
I want to do this for my mom. She has five children and only two are legal. Iâm one of them, the other has health issues that is preventing them from going to college so Iâm going to not only get an education and a better life for me but to show my mom that I was able to do what I was able to do due to her sacrifices to support us. So far, 4 out of 5 children has graduated from the same high school, now weâre waiting for the baby of the family to graduate next year. I am barely starting college but I do hope that I am able to make my wish come true and for my momma to be there for me. I also want to show my oldest sister that her supporting and believing in me has allowed me to follow my dreams in continuing getting an education and to take advantage of the things that are offered to me because I am a legal citizen. To take the advantage of the offers I was presented with and to not take them for granted because she wishes to have had those offers and options when she was in school but couldnât because she wasnât legal like I am.
All the best
I am wishing you luck, god bless you. and remember to stay away from debt, invest your income wisely x
May the lord accomplish your Dreams
You can do it ! Dont let nothing get in your way !
You got this! âš
