HI i am planning on buying and modifying a bullet 500 into 612. Can you comment on the performance between a 500 and 612 as i have never ridden one

It depends how far you plan to take the mods. As an absolute minimum, you need magnum cams and a bigger carburettor. That will give you both more hp and a lot more torque. Mine has the Fireball head, high comp piston and magnum cams from Ace. It's running at 155 PSI compression, and should have close to 40hp on the rear wheel.

Morten Sundal around 40 at the rear wheel should be very good. Any idea where I source the parts locally as I feel sourcing parts from Hitchcocks UK will prove to be bit of a costly affair..

aravind t.c As far as I know, Hitchcocks is the only company to deliver stroked cranks for the Enfield. The crank alone is 950 GBP, and on top of that, shipping and import tax. Getting both power and reliability out of an Enfield engine IS expensive. In addition to the crank, you will need: tuning of the head, a performance piston, a 535 cylinder, cylinder spacers, extra long pushrods, a large carb, magnum cams, and a performance clutch to cope with the extra power. Some, but not all, parts can be made locally. Just keep in mind that there is a lot of research and top notch engineering behind the performance kits from Hitchcocks and Ace. A local mechanic will not be able to build anything as powerful or reliable as those kits.
