Even after 2 days of stopping, I still feel depressed, slept for like 10-12 hours straight and feel like all of my motivation to hit the gym or do any other work just slipped away. Although, I have to say, my sleep improved and also, at the gym, last week, I was able to lift heavier - did 30kg dumbbell presses, 100kg squats & was able to deadlift 170kg for 8 reps straight.

That's strange, it helped me, I think the cortisol levels play a big role. My whole life I've had to stimulate myself physically with exercise and other things in private to keep my mind clear. This helps me with my high cortisol levels that needs worked out of my body with activity. I have irritable mood caused ADHD. I've lost a few jobs because of it, so I try many different things to help my mental health. I'm in a good place right now in my life however.
But it is important to test your cortisol before taking these if you feel fatigued or depression out of nowhere.

Ive tried two separate brands with widely different results. The first time it worked wonders for my adhd and mood especially, but it also ruined a lot of my drive to go and get after it. Being a student at the time, this was not the effect i was looking for. The second time I did about a month of ashwagangda and had zero effects on anything in my life. Mood, adhd, motivational drive stayed at baseline so I'm still on the fence whether this works for me. Maybe I will do a round to compare with a third brand đŸ€”

That's interesting. I don't know if he mentions in the video, but it is cinsider3d an "adaptagen". Meaning it has a propensity to support that needed. Not sure how, but interesting words if your stressed it should lower cortisol BP, etc. Or if you are lethargic and low energy it should help with energy and motivation. I am considering a trial myself, already own it bit never took it more than a few times so can't remark in how it works for me.

This is such a white way of taking Ayurvedic herbs. This 30-day experiment may seem "scientific" but sorry, Ayurvedic doctors in India has been doing SCIENTIFIC empirical tests with medicinal herbs & spices for THOUSANDS of years. Ashwagandha ought to be taken IN CONJUNCTION with other medicinal herbs & spices, after extensive consultation with your Ayurvedic doctor, & everyone's dosage will be different ACCORDING to your physical/ mental/ emotional states.
Of course it's "too strong" or working in a not so ideal way when its chemical components are isolated & recreated in an easily consumed pill or powder form, & you're only taking that, without changing your diet or lifestyle.
Ashwagandha, Chinese or Korean ginseng & other similar adaptogens increases body heat, so Indian gooseberry is usually added to the mix to cool down the system. If your regular diet is also full of "heaty" foods, like coffee, black tea, ginger, garlic, chillisđŸŒ¶, cloves, beef, lamb, deep-fried foods, yeah Ashwagandha is going to WRECK a balanced system (just as examples: mint, cucumber, coconut, water melon, green tea, fish & seafood are considered cooling). That's why I see a lot of posts saying they feel too aggressive after a while & had to stop taking Ashwagandha.

      Get your testosterone levels checked.
Accept that your depression/anxiety and energy levels go up and down so that this issue at least won't make you more depressed than you already are or feeling inadequate, and then the trick is to notice the small time-intervals when you actually have decent amount of energy and low level depression/anxiety, that's when you hit the gym to go break down your muscles (that's where Ashwagandha and macca can be at help, if you want higher testosterone), because good amount of muscles (without having too much fat located on the body) are essential for mental thrive.
Also be taking fishoil (1000 mg DHA), Magnesium (dose depends if you're male or female), 15-25 mg Zinc, 2000 mg vitamin C with every meal and vitamin D with k2 (5000-7000 units) and B3 niacin (nicotinic acid with flush effect) can be a good booster when you wake up or before you go to bed, it helps take off some of the brain fog and makes you feel warm and healthy.
What ever illness you have, you need to find the time to get some activities done when ever you have a spike in energy, these activities can be practical things like preparing good quality foods for the day, washing clothings, cleaning the hourse (just do 1 room if you run out of energy after 1 room, no big deal, just appreciate you did 1 room for now), and also as I said, when you got spike in energy levels, go for long walk or hit the gym, the more muscles you can gain, the more robust your body is towards sickness, inflammation etc.
You might feel hopelessness when reading this, but please come back and read it again when you're having one of those better days.

Something diffrent to not give you that factor when wouldnt it be fair tosay besides ruling out for 30day period wouldd of been nice for the testing for 30days for you toreduce your milligram from 400tosay perhaps 200mg is tofind a balance or aka a aweet spot for your test..do u not feel that reducing the 400mg level to say200mg would of not given you the lessened motivation,,because you naturally don't have high cortisol level befor simply ruling out ashwaganda,,,because fact too much of anything can have non desirable negative effects depending on ones body system type???? Jus curious but again excellent video...i am about to embark on ashwagana benefits,,i do dealwith anxieties periodically,,probably high cortisol levels but i wont necessarilystart with whats recommended doseage because thats based on testing of the ptoduct when everybodys body system can random and be totally diffrent one from the other,,,agree?

      Here’s my unprofessional theory:
I am both hypoglycemic and underweight, so if I don’t eat regularly, I am the very personification of *hangry!* The thing is, this herb brought it to a whole new level. If I missed a meal, I couldn’t just eat and feel better right away like usual. Taking this herb made my hunger actually painful and impossible to ignore. I’m left to wonder how ashwagandha affects blood sugar long term. If I kept taking it, would it level me out eventually? Would it cause me to not be hypoglycemic - was it fixing it, or making it worse? I really couldn’t hack it long enough ti find out. Maybe one day.

At different times of the day, you will do a finger stick test with a lancet. You will stick your finger and draw a small amount of blood, and put it on a test strip. At the end of testing, you will mail it back to the company to process. They will send you the results. You can then take those results to your doctor to interpret.

Why do some people get suicidal on certain antidepressants. Obviously everyone is different, Otherwise we would have cured depression decades ago.

@Capsico you know, you're getting an education. Slow, maybe, but you are ahead than some people, believe it or not.
Don't compare. You're on your own lane & journey.
You've made it this far, so keep going đŸ€ I believe in you.

But why not just take it at night? I take it specifically to help me sleep because that's one of its benefits.

This dude is a plant. Trying to push a product that will most likely make you a zombie and dependent upon an " FDA APPROVED PRODUCT" to feed their bank accounts. Big pharma.

So I understand the whole point and the way that apoptogenic herbs work is not one-directional. I understood that adaptogens "regulate" your body in the way it's needed. So ashwagandha "normalizes" cortisol levels, in whatever ways that's needed - hence "adaptogens."

Very insightful! What is the name of the test that measures cortisol levels and what kind of Doctor would I go to get it measured?

Glad you liked it. Most functional medicine doctors or Naturopathic Doctors can run this test it is either called just a cortisol panel or an adrenal cortisol test. We also run these tests for our patients and clients if your interested?

Thank you for this video, I thought it was just me! I had a very similar reaction starting day one, but I honestly couldn't push through past day 2-3. I'm kinda surprised at the reasoning though, since I have cptsd, I thought my cortisol level would be high...

With CPTSD, the adrenals are typically fried from the constant stress, and it's usually more likely that the person is deficient in cortisol. It's relatively easy to have cortisol tested with salivary cortisol tests to find out for sure. Not intended as medical advice, just fyi. GL!

Dosage is very important. When starting the lower the dose the better and maybe not so frequent as 2x daily.
