I noticed improvement in calmness and sleep with first dose
I've been taking ashwaghanda powder daily for 15 years added to my superfoods mix daily. Its cheap and I like it. I'm a senior male and still in perfect health and everything still works great. It is considered as Indian ginseng
First time I took it was befire long day work after being sleep deprived past 2 days honestly I felt focused energized mind clear stress free. Came home after 12 hour shift feeling fresh.
I took one 500 mg for the first time this week. I was stuck in a negative rumination after hearing a comment at a BQ and was having trouble shaking it off. Within 15 minutes of taking it, that recycled negative thought went away. Very impressed.
I'm glad to hear you were able to 'shake it', but it wasn't the Ashwaganda that did it.
It was a placebo effect and it did you well.
After 15 minutes, the compound would have just started to be digested and and absorbed by the intestinal tract, it then has to pass through the liver where it undergoes further breakdown and seperation of the various nutrients before being released into the blood system.
A single 500mg pill, simply cannot and does not yield the results you speak of.
@@whyfor idk tbh im pretty sensitive to adaptogens so they work within the 1st hour for me. Only one that did not is Lion's Mane. But ashwagandha, tribulus, and tongkat effects were pretty immediate. I don't think it affects everyone the same
Just a fantastic remedy!
Take it every day for over a year now. Some days 1-2 grams other days 500 mg, it all depends on how I feel.
The weird thing about ash is you can take it at night and it helps you sleep, and if you take it early on the day, it improves your energy, weird ye?
Where do u get it?
First video that Dr. Gundry has made that wasn’t pure click bait and got right to the point . Thanks Dr.Gundry . I have much respect for you now .
Great stuff!!
I have recently started Ashwaganda with Biotin for sleep and dry skin
I've been taking ashwaganda for over 3 years now and I'm sleeping better and...my testosterone is almost 1100 and I'm 59 years old next month! I've also been implementing Dr. Gundry's plant/longevity/energy paradox program and have never felt better! Over 90 lbs. lost over that time and have maintained my new weight effortlessly...thank you sir for your insights!
I agree with you, after a cancer scare I decided to life life as though I had cancer so I gave up Sugar, dairy, ALL grains, ALL seed oils and lost 82 lbs. I suffered from hypertension for over 15 years taking Lisinopril and Bystolic for years. When I went from 230 lbs to 147 lbs, my blood pressure problem went away. Now my resting blood pressure is 115/68 and after jogging a 1/4 mile my BP is 137/76. It's changed my life and I'm 71 years old. I love Dr. Gundry's podcasts and have almost watched them all. If more people were determined to get healthy this is the way to go.
1100 at 59…
Whats your free levels?
Do you cycle it at all?
Did you see any liver issues?
I haw use it for 4,5 days for 500mg and it felt numnes in too much dose😂. Cos exe. Driving car I don't hawe saim reflex so I stopped. My goo too is morning training and limunade😂. Literaly no magic pils.
I've been taking it for years and it most definitely makes sleep a wonderful thing. Ashwaghandha is also known as Indian Ginseng.
Wish I could like a million times SLEEP 💤 definitely wonderful on it. Figured it out on my own without a naturopathic doctor/ medical doctor. Functional medicine. Has helped fatigue and sleep 💤.
Ayurveda is hugely popular in India. The late Dr Mathews, a pioneer in cancer treatment who lived upto 92 and took Ashwagandha for over 40 years. He prescribed it for his patients too.
I am 84 and have been taking Ashwagandha for over two decades with no problem. I have no health issues.
In some cases it has given relief in knee pain too.
What dose was taken ?
Amazing
Ashwagandha is the real deal. I actually noticed a difference in my mood after the first dose. I think if it effects you in this way you know it's something special. I've been taking it for about 5 years now.
Hello :) Are taking tablets or ground form?
@@IamKonstantin I take a capsule, 300 mg once or twice a day.
@@scp240 thank uuu
My ashwagandha is 2100 mg w/ blackpepper
Do you take breaks? I read its important to take break from ashwagandha for month and the long term use more than 3months is not known
What dosage do you recommend and what time of day do you suggest it be taken?
----- I took ashwaganda for a long time, 3..4 days per week. I liked the effect on psychology and regulation of sex drive. However, and that's a big one: It caused inflammation of the liver, AST got as high as 40. When I took it off, all other things roughly the same, AST returned to 28 after 8 months. So, if you start taking it, observe your liver enzymes.
How long did you take it for
It can also make you numb to feelings and emotions. I take it very rarely as when i took it on a consistent basis i had zero drive.
I started taking this when I started going through menopause. It helps with overall mood. I also add it to tea and some smoothies! Thank you Doctor G. 👍🏾
Please share what brand
I take organic Ashwagandha KSM-66 from Tribe Organics. There's no consensus on cycling, but, I personally would to avoid a tolerance and to be more effective.
Thank you for your help
I'm always impressed by the quality and affordability of the products at Rune Organics. They've helped me maintain normal testosterone levels even at my age.
Ashwagandha can increase thyroid hormon levels. It's good to be consious of it. For some people can be good for others can cause problems
I keep seeing these negative comments on ash, not a single study have I read to confirm this.
I have taken this every day for more than a year, no negative effects other than if I take too high dose, I will get some bad poo poo :P
@@orion9k
Did you have any thyroid problem before you started it?
Ashwaghanda irritates pitta constitution in Ayurveda. Pitta, kapha, vata , are 3 types of physical traits and personalities. Pitta people have aversion for heat, get upset easily, like cooling food to cool them down, have strong digestion , robust, etc...
So one herb can be good medicine or bad medicine for each person. Those who have thyroid issues, stay away from ashwaghanda.
AshWaghanda irritates pitta constitution according to Ayurveda. People with thyroid issues should not take this herb.
I took this herb and got irritated right away. No more ashwaghanda for me. I am pitta.
@@nickanicka2743 not that I was aware of but covid19 era with government terror on restrictions gave me so much stress that my whole body went wack, ashwagandha has helped tremendously 🌴
Does this product help when you have cancer treatment
How long do you take it for and do you cycle taking it and then not taking for a couple of months?
I also take Ashwagandha , but not everyday because I suffer Pudendal Neuralgia. It concerns me that it could affect more my symptoms because it is also an aphrodisiac, and I REALLY do not need that. 🤷🏻♀️ But for the rest, specially stress relief and nerves it is awesome Dr. Gundry. ☺️🙏🏼
He just said it has no side effects....
It may be described as an aphrodisiac but like most things of this nature, you do have to think about sex or foreplay for it to actually work. I'm taking 3000 mgs daily and as long as I don't think about sex, there are no problems at all. I think kind of like one of my childhood buddies, he said it's just way too much work for 5 to 10 seconds of ecstasy. I take it for better sleep and it helps me relax more than ever, kind of like the character David Carradine played in Kung Fu.
@@vidpic8311kills liver for long term use ( science 🧬 backed)
We in India use it in many medicines and supplements ... Ayurveda has it big time
Dr what is your take on Scalar light Tom Paladino... please I would love your feedback ❤️
Thanks Dr for your great information . Per my understanding Ashwaganda. Falls winthin nightshade categories.
Please elaborate.
Hello Dr. Gundry, which brand of Ashwagandha do you recommend?
It makes you sleep very well, that’s for sure..
I made cold brew coffee with raw milk, ashwaganda, & pumpkin spice this morning & BOOM Gundry's on it.
Hello Dr Gundry - what dosage do you recommend for men? Thank You
What do you take everyday? Supplements
Thank you Dr G love your videos you have change my life Blessings for you and Penny and you beautiful family ❤🍀🙏🎉
wow, reading the comments, looks like people not happy with it. I didn't know it was for men, I have taken it to lower blood pressure and it does trying to avoid pharmaceuticals
I buy it in power form in one pound bags, which saves a lot of money.
Hello, could you please advise how and what time is best for consuming ashwaganda? I have the powder one. Thank you
Thank you for your video. I saw many products with warnings for cancer and reproductive harm, problems with the liver and filers like maltodextrin. Do you have a brand that you recommend?
nice glasses
Thanks again doctor G , so how do we take it ? With food ? With water ? With olive oil or is it written on the label ?
I take it in the morning on an empty stomach, have my 1st meal around 1:00pm and I also take it 3 or 4 hours before bed. My sleep score is usually over 90 % above average. In a few months I'll be 72
What is the ideal amount one should take.
The sacred ayurvedic texts: the Charaka and the Sushruta Sambita document the use of “Ashwagandha” as one of the most potent adaptogen and anti-stress herb. The Sanskrit name “Ashwagandha” translates to mean “the smell of a horse” and is recognized as one of the most powerful herbs for its restorative benefits and for providing “the virility and strength of a stallion.”
The use of Ashwagandha as medicine to revitalize the body dates back to the teachings of the highly revered sage, Atreya Punarvasu, a royal physician. This strength builder herb has the lion’s share in the many ayurvedic formulation, including Ashwagandha Di Ich yam , and is also referred to as a “royal herb” widely prescribed for its potent stress-relieving aphrodisiac, and immuno-modulatory activities’
That’s not true. It effects everyone differently. From my experience it helps lower your stress level. Just a tip fam. Have a blessed day.
I took one Ashwaghanda supplement that caused me stomach to hurt .
I wanted to take ashwaganda but I currently have a high ferritin level and it is my understanding that ashwagandha is high in iron so I probably need to avoid it
Can Ashwagand and Tomg Kat Ali cause BPH? Supplements taken for 12 months and on a 4 month break from it due to BPH.
It grows in my farm naturally .is it good for prostate ? I read from somewhere else saying don't use if you have a prostate problem
Ashwaganda lowers your stress. Thats what it mainly does and with the lowering of stress it helps improve your sleep, testosterone and performance because stress is a performance killer. If the stress is taken care of everything else follows right behind it.
I have it in powder form. How many tsps per day would you recommend? Thank you
@@Alien2799 I took it in the pill form. Had to stop because it was giving me upset stomach. I have a sensitive stomach.
Can ashwaganda be consumed in autoimmune disease like hashimoto?! Is it safe?
Because ashwagandha supplements do boost the immune system, it may worsen the autoimmune attack on the thyroid gland. However, this herb also has anti-inflammatory properties, which may help repair the thyroid gland in people with Hashimoto's.
Still there is a risk
It’s so easy to do men’s studies for medication, supplements, etc. How about the women? We deal with more hormone and thyroid issues it would be nice to get more attention on what’s safe for us to take.
As a rule it is safe.
I never tried it. Cool eyeglasses
You are very kind to be saying that.
I have seen Ashwaganda supplements that say take 20-30 min before meal and others with meals. Which works better?
It lowers blood sugar that's why
Hello dr.gundry Can you make an épisode about tongat ali .thank you
Funny. I recently got a bit fed up with the sheer amount of supplements I had started taking. I decided to cut out the ones that seemed most like snakeoil and the exotic herbs got axed first. Luckily I hadn't thrown it away, so I'll just put it back on the menu. I'm genuinely surprised it's actually that beneficial. The supplement I got is a combination of 300mg Ashwagandha and 300mg Rhodiola, by the way. So now I'm a bit curious if the Rhodiola is as good too.
Curious ! That can work well if you have thyroid issues
I am searching for the answer too
what about liver damage.. webmd says to not take more than 1000mg a day for 3 months??? It would be very helpful if you were to weigh in on this?
For most people 500 mg is sufficient. many take 250 mg twice a day in India.
There's a typo in the title line - it's ashwagandha, not ashwaghanda.
Does that come to Argentina?
Great information. Sir, you are talking fast. Slow down. 😊
So is it meant for performance or for longevity ??? And mitochondria uncoupling
It's a natural product so it's not 'meant' for anything, it just has certain properties.
I bought this from Webber Naturals and it’s at 7200mg. But I think this is too much of a dose. Can anyone help with this ? I am scared to take it
I thought ashwaganda was in the nightshade family. Would it affect those who are sensitive to nightshades?
Yes, I understand that it will
It doesn’t with me…
Tried ashwagandha for 30 days and made my anxiety worse. Was so disappointing
It all depends on the brand you used, a lot of fake and half baked products I'm the market, it must be standardised and organic extract.
It's real.. I get good sleep and relaxation.. stress free. 😎
Also is hepatotoxic, "A 2020 case study examined five adults who had experienced signs of hepatotoxicity, or toxicity to the liver, after using ashwagandha", may increase hormones levels like Thyroid and testosterone. Liver damage is not a good thing, so you should say the pro and the cons too.
A study with five subjects? Who conducted that "study"?
@@richardwrynn824 quite possible but fir liver stress that would have to be a real high dose .. it ain’t happening with 300-600 mg
A five person study, huh?
Problem with dr. Gundri is he only gives you positive benifits and ignores negetive effects. Like his advice to drink lot of olive oil every day for health. Which is insane.
Ashwagandha is from the nightshade family, as we learned from you Dr. G, nightshades are loaded with lectins. Contradiction or acceptable side fact?
True. Alot things he says don't make sense
Ashwagandha is safe unless you have an autoimmune problem
Ashwagandha is safe unless you have an autoimmune problem
So it’s a safe nightshade ?
No it is not.
It is safe for the majority ; those with auto immune disease must avoid it.
Hi Dr gundry where can I purchase the aswhagandra the real deal
Mary Ruth Organics are the best ones.
What is the safe, yet effective dosage? I understand too much causes liver damage, but not enough has no effect. What’s the sweet spot?
No dose is safe. It’s poison.
It doesn't cause liver damage lol, I've eaten over twenty bags lol a bag in a week no issues sorry you believing false news
Can it cause liver damage?
Usually NO
Doc, Is Ashwaganda recommended for people over 60 ? I'm a delivery driver for UPS and coffee or energy drink just isn't cutting it anymore . My job is Extremely.physically stressful looking for a little natural pick me up. Could this help ?
Look into DHEA, plenty of videos on CZcams
stop poisoning yourself with high level of sugar and caffeine. Go to the doctors, talk with a doctor, and explain your symptoms. and FIND the root cause of your low energy. for being 60 years old, you are not supposed to be that tired and drained. you gave a health issue that needs attention.
dr gundry, why is the fact that ashwaganda is a nightshade plant irrelevant??
Does this product interact badly with blood pressure medication and statins?
throw out statins
Swallowed first capsule now.
4:34. I've heard there can be liver problems.
Why everytime I take it I get diarrhoea?
Is it ok for diabetics?
In India it is given to diabetics by Ayurvedic physicians
Supplments are great but not before we have a healthy foundation. Get your foundation right by eating the right foods and correct any underlying conditions. THEN one can incorporate a limited number of supplements into a regimen.
This is an example of what makes the internet a crappy place to get answers. You have a doctor that know own has ever heard of, generally speaking, giving his advice, thoughts and recommendations. Then you have over 100 comments from people that none of us know with no given expertise or qualifications in the matter that would permit them to even think for a second, they should be allowed to talk, giving their thoughts and testimonials. Some of these testimonials are good and others are not so good. After, watching the video and reading the comments you are left with the same confusion that you started with and brought you here in the first place.
Some truth here.
What about Boswellia?
Check Boswellia Serrata by googling the term. It's an effective herb
Can cause liver damage ..... though 😮

Ashwagandha...I have taken this as a tincture, herb, and dermal delivery systems. EVERY time I found it to create a lot of anxiety and agitation. BE CAREFUL.
Ignoring a majority of the side effects is strange in this video. I noticed a more depressed mood and a lowered will or care for things I usually enjoy. I also felt more irritable.
very lazy research on his part
That's because serotonin rise, dopamine is pleasure, motivation hormone ashagwanda helps those with to much dopamine anxiety
Why are most studies conducted on men?
I speed up the presentation to 125% and it is way better.
I slow it down 755% and he sounds like he is in a bar!
now the important question, will it also work on my wife ??
The Himalayas brand is cheep and good, don't buy from pharmacies who put 5 x price up. Indian shops are cheepest. I❤.😊
In my research, I have found that males experience a loss of sexual drive and abilities decrease but with females, it is in reverse. Can you please elaborate?
I agree that it blunts any time of drive, makes you numb to feelings
It causes homeostasis, your not supposed to be a lust ful pig lay down with a woman you love and if ur digging stick still don't work on ash then that's you
Doctor I'm from India. Ashwagandha is hugely popular here but it's so called benefits have been debunker by Dr Abby Phillip, also from India. You could find his posts against ashwagandha online. I've stopped taking it after hearing him. You may review your opinions after interaction with him
I need to tell people about my experience with ashwagandha. It's not a miracle herb for everyone. In fact, it can be the opposite. As soon as I began taking ashwagandha (at half the recommended dose), I developed severe insomnia, sleeping between zero and three hours a night for two weeks. Before that, my sleep was fine. I also felt depressed, manic and thought I was going crazy. My anxiety went through the roof. Within one day of stopping the ashwagandha, I started to feel normal again and my sleep improved. Several months later, I tried the ashwagandha again, and the exact same thing happened. This herb is clearly toxic for me and has the exact opposite of the desired effect. Please be aware.
to bad it is a nightshade
So is tobacco. Coffee. More toxic unless it organic
Doc you need to lose the blue glasses
Liver failure is on the side effects list, rare but given it is fatal i would think of it twice
