Today, we’re going to talk about the most powerful adaptogen in the world: ashwagandha.
An adaptogen is something that helps you cope with stress and helps your body adjust to its environment.
Ashwagandha has a lot of benefits, but we’re going to focus on how it can help you adapt to stress. Ashwagandha has helped many people feel calmer and like they can cope with stress easier.
Ashwagandha helps control the HPA axis, which is the communication between your hypothalamus, pituitary, and adrenals. These hormonal communications help the body adapt to a stress response.
Once the communication is complete, the hormone is supposed to lower back down, but with chronic stress, cortisol never goes back down and is chronically elevated. Ashwagandha can help reduce these hormones.
Cortisol isn’t a bad thing. It doesn’t cause stress-it’s adapting your body to a stress state. But, it’s not healthy to have your body in a state of chronic stress and chronically elevated cortisol.
    Potential benefits of ashwagandha:
    • It helps lower cortisol in the AM
    • It helps lower DHEA (a precursor to cortisol) in the AM
    • It helps raise testosterone (stress lowers testosterone)
    • It helps increase endurance
    • It helps increase strength (stress may cause weakness)
    • It has shown significant improvements in emotions

We don't find homeostatis word in ayurvedic literature because it's not in English and does not have Greek origin. But ayurveda clearly mentions its benefits and effects on human body. Only because of our collective amnesia we are leaving such knowledge and finding such repackaged information as great. Definitely we need more new research but the west has yet to properly acknowledge the traditional knowledge which forms the basis for such research. It's a disservice to the Indian heritage.

One common thing I have heard about him is that he is not a person who can handle pressures of life. Be it small or big. I have heard that he would worry a lot about the future and be sad and angry about his past. He was an intelligent man and this Incan attest for, but his emotional intelligence was very poor from what I gather. At that time we had a lady help in the house. She was actually adopted by our family. She did something wrong and my uncle threw boiling water on the lady and my dad jumped in and slapped my uncle. Though the CDC and FDA were instituted with good intentions, it has become lobbying firms and hence I would read thru the details of their every dictum!. BTW, the same WESTERN geniuses convinced that mRNA vaccine by the WESTERN companies are 100% safe but look what happened. Still the hangover of British rulers exists with lots of Indians.

Second being, his explanations or inferences or analysis would be a lot more lucid, clear and crisp in comparison to Dr. Berg's because of the above reason. Thirdly, Ayurveda holds the elixir to transform a life from dead to spirited which as an Indian he should strive to bring forth to masses. I learned not to take it unless I'm feeling highly anxious or stressed because if I took it on just a regular calm day I would start to feel emotionally numb.
It also increased aggression (Not to an unsafe degree) and helped me to be more assertive.
It also increased libido a bit too much for my liking.

You have just saved my life, Dr. Berg! I’m over 50 and started packing on the pounds no matter how much I exercised. I was starting to look fat instead of normal and I couldn’t sleep if I tried to restrict calories. I started cutting out grains and sugar and doing intermittent fasting and it works! If I’m hungry I know I can just have a normal modest serving of bacon, sausage, nuts, cheese! I have lost 10 pounds already! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Hi Dr. Berg, I have been suffering from stress for quite a while now up until 3 months ago when I took the decision to walk away from what was causing me the stress, as I was living in flight and flight mode nearly all of the time. I have started to take a Vitamin D & C supplement as well as Omega 3. I am slowly starting to feel better but it's a slow journey. I also make a Berry smoothie everyday and I'm trying some Yoga but my body is still so stiff and sore from the stress. My Herbalist recommended Ashwaganda which I bought yesterday funny enough so I'm also going to take that as well as Magnesium, hope I'm doing the right thing as I'm determined to feel better and get some better quality sleep. Thank you for all the informative videos you send our way, regards Julie

Really want to thank you for all your wonderful videos. For the last 18 mths I have been doing OMAD & healthy keto. My hubby has also participated. I have lost to date 101 lbs & he lost about 75. He is off his high blood pressure meds & I no longer have constant arthritis pain. You have greatly improved the quality of the life of two seniors. However this herb looks very helpful. How much should we take a day & when? Keep the info coming you are a treasure. Thanks from Canada. 👍🇨🇦
