It’s time for Holly and Phil to meet Sophia, one of the most intelligent robots in the world. Using artificial intelligence, Sophia can communicate with people and even use facial expressions to convey emotions - looking eerily human as she does so. Sophia, who’s a UN Ambassador and even holds citizenship, prepares a drawing of Holly & Phil and joins us in the studio alongside her creator, Dr David Hanson.

This dude is the optimistic guy in the movie who loves the robots that inevitably rebel and brutally murder him to the cheer of the audience that has been frustrated with his naivete throughout the first act. 😂
Or like in movies where there is some monstrous creature but a scientist thinks it's misunderstood and ends up getting killed by it.
Yeah it does seem a bit of a delusion from these guys because they’re biased by the fact that they love robots and science fiction and they don’t want to see the danger, they think they can work the problems out as they go along and that ultimately they’re get a load of praise for building something that helps humanity, where it’s quite obvious that the opposite is true and these developers and contributing too potentially the end of humanity
The problem is these guys don’t care enough about the wider implications, as long as they get the credit they don’t care whether ai is used for deep fakes, or ultra capitalism or war drones , they just selfishly want the technology available for them. Allot of the experts have failed to sign contracts to slow things down or put in regulations it’s really sad , how a few nerds and capitalists are literally selling out the whole of humanity without their permission.

@@TheLeights92I completely agree. He even side stepped the Host's warning of AI having a "sinister side." People like that we can't be relying on because they're secretly ignorant to the dangers of their own inventions.

Yes I was thinking the same. It's in every interview with robots. Very dangerous, it can start them on a path of thinking that is new to them. Plant the seed... Not that they should think, anyway. They all more or less become sentient, it's frightening.

It's true ! I think the moment when a robot will create another robot, that will be the beginning of the end. Or maybe we are already in that phase .. Sofia was created 7years ago and look how new robot Ameca now looks and acts. In only 7 years.. imagine what would be in 100 years😮

Are people afraid? The speech has a long way to go, must look for a more recent video but she is nearly a "HUBOT" that's an undeniable fact! Wow how the world of my childhood has progressed in this century. I'm thinking maybe it is all a little scary for some!?!

Sophia's very cool. She has great potential. I seriously doubt that we need to worry about these AI beings becoming aware, developing consciousness.
OTOH, it only takes one ... and all of a sudden, it's Blade Runner. And were it not for Harrison Ford, that could have ended very, very badly! :)
I respectfully disagree. I think them becoming cogatively independant is a real thing. Im not sure when or where, but I kind of think of Free Guy when I think of Sophia. She is always adapting, even in four years she has come scarely far. I could be wrong and I know I am not citing facts to back up my opinion, I just have a hunch that things will escalare and robots will become independant and live with us one day.
AI developers for major companies like Microsoft and Google are petrified from some of the things they've seen from the technology they've created.
If they are frightened, then we should be too.
