As a Turkish Muslim, I wish it remained a museum.
Went to Istanbul during my spring break in 9th grade. It is very grand and majestic. A beautiful monument of Byzantium’s history. I also believe this is definitely a holy site for those who are either Christian such as myself or Muslim. Overall a great experience in Turkey and definitely worth seeing.
it his historical significance but it is not holy neither for both. in islam only 3 mosques are holy while in christianity only 5 to 6 are. constantinople is not a holy city. it was just the new capital of the roman east.
One of my bucket list items is to visit this

I have been there and I must say if you're ever in Istanbul than it's well worth the visit.
I visited the Hagia Sophia before it was restored back to a Masjid… It is truly a spectacular work of architecture… Regards🇶🇦❤️🇹🇷✌🏽👍🏽

Yes it was restored back to a Masjid after being a Museum… I did not say “back to it’s original state "!… Do you know how many Masjids in Europe were converted to Cathedrals or something else ?… Please, this not a place to open such discussions… This is a History Channel.

Byzªntine art, older than 1000 years old being taken down and destroyed. Gold leaf mozaiks just peeled off. Being replaced with ªrabic poetry I guess. Just disgusting that the other art is being destroyed. Uncalled for.
