The ZZP team has put together plenty of 400 wheel+ W Bodies. Still, when we sat down to determine the "magical" number that maximizes reliability and functionality, 300whp was the value we landed on. (DON'T WORRY! We will be doing a Road to 400 episode soon as well.)

I was beginning to think that ZZP had abandoned the 3800. A week after I purchased my new 2002 GTP, I began modifications using ZZP components. No better time than now to continue with the upgrades. Thanks for the update 🏁
Why did you think ZZP Abandoned the 3800? We are constantly posting and working on them brother. We have said many times we are not going to abandon the platform.
@@ryanderrick656I see now that abandoned is the wrong choice of words. ZZP is the leader in W body and 3800 performance upgrade components and I couldn’t be more pleased with all of my GTP purchases. It makes sense to expand the product line to include the new and current platforms. Naturally you have to promote the new products with video updates too. Rolling with the changes is essential to stay on top of what you do best. I get it. My old GTP is just feeling neglected but that’s my fault. A shot of ZZP with a little TLC is all it needs 🏁.

Will you guys support the F23 (getrag 287) conversions that are popular right now with the w body? They require a custom transmission mount that everybody seems to have a different take on.

shouldn't the drive chain in the 65e be also replaced with a stronger one? My 07 GP GT is completely stock but I'm afraid of going WOT all the time for fear of granading the trans
I have been toying with the idea of a supercharged 3800 in an e36 BMW for like a decade. Glad I didn't just dive in on Gen3 stuff.
That said, I am fully immersed into Honda products on track. They just take a beating like no other.
For a boneville 97 supercharged with 3.5 pulley and VZ rpm cam cold air intake and 3"single ultra Flow muffler...needs running?
I find the 3100 much more rev friendly.

I run the exact turbo setup hes talking about at the end of the video on my 3800 fiero and I would love to hear what ZZP has to say about making 400whp on that type of setup.

Glad we're still getting 3800 support! I need to build out my 1996 Riviera and need as many pointers as I can get. Right now the urgent thing is new mufflers, any recommendations? I bought it with a full ZZP catback exhaust system installed but one muffler broke. Would like them a bit louder, idk what mufflers are on it currently

Yet the zzp performance website says the gen 5 blower does nothing for power.. so why go through all that just for slightly better efficiency..
Does the 04-05 Park avenue ultra have the better blower?
No, only the 04+ Grand Prix came with the Gen V M90. The PAU would have a Gen 3.

How certain is it that 300hp is going to blow the transmission?
Chances increase after 150k miles but pretty low. After 400hp the 4t65e can be a coin flip every pull

Crazy how older V6 cars needed a supercharger to try to make 300 horse and my charger V6 makes 310 naturally aspirated, technology
Head flow was not great back then it was not as important as it is now. A set of good heads and proper mild cam in a 3800 would make 300plus all motor. Also this vid is 300whp not crank.
@@88kleenmachine yeah i know that issue, my old e7 ford heads were terrible, the aftermarket fixed that issue thank goodness, engines are just an air pump, more air in more air out makes horsepower, I always liked those grand prix cars too, there was a performance one a gxp or something

@@famousmoonthis is untrue. The only “beef” was squashed almost immediately. There was a joke made on a podcast because we consider the owner a friend, and it was taken in offense. The “beef” was squashed privately and the only people keeping it going are the people that want to see drama. We have supported the owner by giving dyno days for his own fleet and doing extra pulls to help him get records. No “Dirt” is being thrown as we continue to support the 3800 community.

For the same money, get an lfx 3.6 from an Arcadia. It's 320hp naturally aspirated stock engine

This is just selling parts these can make 400 whp with the right parts ported blower intake methanol kit 3.8 isn't as tough in the 80s as the 3800 2 and 3 more air comes in more needs to go it's efficiency you just have to land it right with a tune
Could you take a shot in the dark at what my 96 riviera might be pushing to the wheel? I bought the car with all the mods preinstalled. Cold air intake, 3.6 pulley, ZZP tuned PCM, equalizer downpipe and catback
That pulley isn't a huge gain the pcm is. Exaust helps from knock on front bank middle cylinder is known to fail. Probably 35-40 hp over stock 280 flywheel. The biggest thing you can do for the m-90 cars is a intercooler. That's the power adder they needed stock.

I make 417 hp on a 3800 no supercharger,no turbo,no pro charger needed. Just some nitrous express dual 50 shot
The world record for a NA 3800 is 270whp. A dual 50 shot is ~100hp of power and the 3800 NA makes 200 CRANK horsepower, about 170 or so wheel horsepower.
PLEASE STOP THAT ENGINE REV NOISE EVERY TIME YOU NAME A PART, it’s annoying and makes it hard to hear the video

What? Out of stock means people are buying stuff and we are working on getting it back in stock. We are literally redesigning parts right now to re-release. Sorry you feel that we don't support the 3800 anymore...but I dont feel its accurate in the least.

I'm laughing my ass off bro 3800 engines are trash I've owned a monte carlo ss with the gtp swap that I got from my dad that passed away they are dog shit engines period ive had a Pontiac grand am gt with the na and it blew a head gasket they are trash
Well the Grand Am never came with the 3800, and you have to try reeeaaaaalllly hard to blow up a 3800. They're also a fairly common swap engine into many vehicles, and have run into the 8s, and the Australian markets with the Commodores mod them very reliable in factory RWD setups as well. Seems the common denominator is you bud!
