Welcome to episode 2 of The Road to Horsepower! This time, we're tackling the legendary 3800!

Crazy how older V6 cars needed a supercharger to try to make 300 horse and my charger V6 makes 310 naturally aspirated, technology
Head flow was not great back then it was not as important as it is now. A set of good heads and proper mild cam in a 3800 would make 300plus all motor. Also this vid is 300whp not crank.
@@88kleenmachine yeah i know that issue, my old e7 ford heads were terrible, the aftermarket fixed that issue thank goodness, engines are just an air pump, more air in more air out makes horsepower, I always liked those grand prix cars too, there was a performance one a gxp or something

No, only the 04+ Grand Prix came with the Gen V M90. The PAU would have a Gen 3.

Nice. These tips right here will help me a lot. I just recently got bit by the L67 Series II bug. Picked up a 04' Monte Carlo SS Intimidator for a song and a dance. Was a favor to unload it from the guy. It has it's issue's so I was going to fix it and flip it(I'm a Ford Mustang guy, have been for 35 years). But now that I've been messin' with it, think I'll keep it. It only has 110k miles on the clock but it has Vacuum leaks EVERY WHERE!
Now how much did all these parts cost to make that up? Probably could have just bought a faster car to start lol

Hey guys! Be sure to listen to what he's saying when it comes down to the camshaft actuator phasers. Pay very close attention to that part! When it's time to torque those actuator bolts, be sure to hold the 22mm wrench with the same amount of pressure. Be sure when you're tightening the bolt to spec, don't let the camshaft move the chain, or else the crankshaft tool will move out of place, and the timing will be off. Keep paying attention to the crankshaft tool everytime you're done tightening either camshaft.
Question. Doing a head swap and a stage 1 swap. I timed my actuators with the tool but didn't check the crank. If i replace the head and all new components as long as #1 is TDC and locked with the pin can i just time it as shown here?

I have been toying with the idea of a supercharged 3800 in an e36 BMW for like a decade. Glad I didn't just dive in on Gen3 stuff. That said, I am fully immersed into Honda products on track. They just take a beating like no other.

U guys know what the lsj (B207) internals can handle in terms of hp stock?
The LSJ internals, and also the B207, are very stout in stock form. Stock long block record is 500+, but as long as it's well cared for they can easily live at 400+ for quite a long time.
If I bought a ZZP catted downpipe for my Camaro and it threw a lean sensor 2. Because the downpipe was what threw the code up with the code most likely go away after the tune?

What gear was that pull done in? I didn't like my Cruze until i tuned it then a deer said not so fast... my 2020 Equinox 2.0 I absolutely love for all around use and performance Full bolt ons and tune, but a red light runner said nope... So I may be able to fix but not sure yet...😭
I wanted to comment on the fuel. All fuel is shipped in a pipeline to your area then to the gas stations via tanker truck. That said all 87, 93 whatever is the same at every station. Shell does not refine their fuel and truck it to each shell station.

Glad we're still getting 3800 support! I need to build out my 1996 Riviera and need as many pointers as I can get. Right now the urgent thing is new mufflers, any recommendations? I bought it with a full ZZP catback exhaust system installed but one muffler broke. Would like them a bit louder, idk what mufflers are on it currently
shouldn't the drive chain in the 65e be also replaced with a stronger one? My 07 GP GT is completely stock but I'm afraid of going WOT all the time for fear of granading the trans

How certain is it that 300hp is going to blow the transmission?
Chances increase after 150k miles but pretty low. After 400hp the 4t65e can be a coin flip every pull
I redid the wiring and added some heat reflective tape but it’s going strong the sheath over the wires deteriorated
