    So glad you mention Deaky, he's mostly overlooked and often underrated as a bassist, yet he's an very talented musician. Fun fact: John Deacon played most of the instruments on Another One Bites the Dust: lead and rhythm guitars, bass, piano and additional percussion. Roger Taylor added a drum loop and Brian May contributed noises with his guitar and an Eventide Harmonizer.

    I connect this to more of Freddie leaving a message - to the youngsters. Freddie was a serious Godfather, followed up with how they were doing. Now tells them he is with them always - an invisible man, but there. Freddie calling the names puts a great stamp on who Queen 'were', him, Roger, John and Brian. Him singing never had a real good friend plants a seed for their parents to explain Freddie when old enough to understand his life specifics. The cartoon style pictures and the kid having a secret from the parents entices kids to look at the video. And, the bass having such a big role will lovingly appeal to Deaky's children. Wonderful reaction. I love this, you must know. Yes "What a song?" Tears here - maybe happy tears cause Freddie was such a special personality and his songs from 89 thru 91 talk to all of us.

    The guitar solo clip will have been show must go on video. The guitar solo on this always reminds me of the sound of a computer game loading off tape, don't know if that was intentional with the computer game theme of the video.

    • @42heizer
      @42heizer Před 2 lety +1

      The whole song, not even the video clip, is a copy of a late 80s console or early PC game. The reduced, but very complex bass combined with the "poor" drums, mirroring the sound abilities of 8bit computer devices of that era. The little "laser" inserts remind to small 8bit midi files to get sound on user action while playing the game. It was a common thing that days, to switch between several characters in a game, played by one player, to expand the game story, which is done here by whispering the band members names and change the song a little. Even Brians guitar seems to get down to a flat 8bit sound. And yes, I think it is imitating a floppy disk sound, too.
      And try to fade out Freddies vocals in your head, its hard I know, and you hear a perfect late 80s four track, pseudo stereo, computer game soundtrack. Maybe C64, Amiga, SEGA or early Nintendo in an arcade.
      Load an emulator of late 80s computer stuff and play some games of that time. You will hear it.

    Everything I can find says "released in 89" but early 1990 was his last public appearance at the Brit Awards looking quite ill. So I do wonder when this was actually recorded and filmed.
    Not sure how I feel about the song. Not one of theirs I would seek out but I did enjoy the video. The look on the kids face when Queen burst into his bedroom! Now that would be a thing of dreams!
