Freddie's ability to use his complete range and just shift from one end to the other with total control is part of what made him such a unique singer and enabled the entire band to write some music that would be nearly impossible for any other band to perform, particularly live. I love all four of these songs but March Of The Black Queen is just so fantastic. Brian May has been my favorite guitar player since the first time I heard that very first Queen album. I had no idea who Queen was, they were new to the scene but I put that album on and slapped on my Sennheiser headphones and tight away when Freddie started singing I said, "WOW! that is the best voice in rock and roll" then here came Brian and I said "and that is the best guitar sound in rock and roll" and I have never had that change and I like a lot of great guitar players. It is just something about Brian's sound that I find to be not only original but captivating. Thank you for reacting to the excellent medley. Brian built that guitar with his dad when he was a teen with stuff that was just laying around the house. Some of his unique sounds come from the Deacy Amp which is an amp that John Deacon built from stuff he found in a dumpster. It enables Brian to make his guitar sound like other instruments when he is playing.

Deaky said, "I bought the whole bass, I'm going to play the whole bass." Brian picks with a coin.

Brian May is in my view (as a sometime blues/jazz player) hands down the best rock guitar player. He has a greater sense of melody and harmony than anybody. BTW his guitar was built from scratch by Brian and his dad and nicknamed the Red Special. If you are interested in guitars I heartily recommend the book "Brian May's Red Special". It's written by Brian and a chap called Simon Bradley. It goes into great detail as to how it was built with lots of great photos. It's also interesting for Queen fans who are not interested in guitars as it has lots of info about the Queen days and the making of the movie "Boho Rhap" and lots more.

"March of the Black Queen" is great. Similar structure to "Bohemian Rhapsody". Another song similar to them both is "Prophet's Song" - Brian's masterpiece. It didn't get the attention it deserved because it was on the same album as "BoRhap", but it's an epic song.

You got me!! You are so versed in music I see- love your reaction Sandman- I’ve watched you before and I think this is your best yet! Thank you for giving us the young Queen!! I’ve been a fan since 1976 and I love them all just like I’m back in time and sometimes feel other worldly- do rock out Sandman!! March of The Black Queen is outstanding!! EOW!!!!! Freddie still knocks me out!!💛💛

Of course each band member plays multiple instruments- talent like I’ve never seen. Brian has been voted best rock and roll guitarist by Guitar Magazine. His guitar- he uses a Penny- only British coin . Brian and his father built his guitar at home using things found around his home. He calls it the Red Special. Brian was a teen when he built it. Deacon used scraps he found and wound up making an amazing AMP. It helps give the band its unique sound. No one has been able to copy it. Freddie has no formal training for singing or the piano. Roger/ he was becoming well known before Queen was born. They are super talented- all university men. I can’t wait to see what else you find Sandman!

Awesome reaction! The March Of The Black has 11 different sections, compared to 5 different sections in Bohemian Rhapsody. Bring Back That Leroy Brown is a very unique song, it is Ragtime, from the 1920's, it is a short song, but this was only a very small section of the song. Queen were great with adding interesting genres in their music that most artists would not really experiment with. Queen II is very much prog rock, it is heavy prog rock. You might say it is a precursor to progressive metal. A lot progressive metal bands such as Dream Theater, will sight this album as an inspiration. The March Of The Black Queen is an epic, Queen has a few epics. Another great epic song and album from Queen is Innuendo, but it was their last album, so it is much later then this, from the early 90's.
Brian May is a very unique guitarist, but you really have to listen to Queen to understand it. If you only heard some of their greatest hits, you might not realize how good Brian May is, which is something that happens a lot.

Great reaction. You definitely should react to Bring Back That Leroy Brown, but listen to the original lyric video for the famous Queen harmonies. Brian's home made guitar is called Red Special.

March of the Black Queen is absolutely an incredible complex composition by Freddie. The guitar is filthy, the theme is fascinating. Can't wait for your reaction to it.

When you do March of the Black Queen. The incomplete end is because it merges into Funny How Love Is. Maybe you ought simply add A bit of Funny How Love is in the reaction

Brian May’s guitar sound comes from a combination of his home made (!) guitar and John’s ’Deaky amp’: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deacy_Amp?wprov=sfti1

Glad you are back at it.. You have to do all the songs in the medley on their own because this was just a piece of all of them and they are all great. Can't wait for you to do the March of the black Queen.
