Welcome to the channel and thanks for clicking on the video.
Today I am in the classic Cotswolds village of Lower Slaughter, one of the prettiest and most famous villages in the region.
The name of the village of Lower Slaughter stems from the Old English name for a wet land ‘slough’ or ‘slothre’ meaning ‘muddy place’ upon which it lies.
This quaint village sits beside the little Eye stream and is known for its unspoilt limestone cottages in the traditional Cotswold style.
The stream running through the village is crossed by 2 small stone bridges and the local attraction is a converted mill with original water wheel selling craft type products and includes a café and mill museum.
Lower Slaughter boasts a 13th Century Church, St Marys, a 17th Century Manor House now a luxury hotel and the fabulous Slaughters Country Inn where I will be visiting for a drink on this sunny and warm May afternoon.
In 2011 Copse Hill Road in Lower Slaughter was voted the most romantic street in Britain!
