  • In this video, we walk from the popular Cotswold town of Bourton-on-the-Water into the southern part of the Cotswolds to the town of Northleach. Along the way, we go by Rissington Mill, pass the iconic church in Little Rissington, visit Great Rissington, show where to picnic along the banks of the River Windrush and pass through the great National Trust estate of Sherborne.
In Sherborne, we see hunting meadows and woodlands, visit an iconic deer course built in the 1630s, see some magnificent views of Sherborne manor and pay homage to a wooden sculpture of a popular local resident.
We also learn to navigate across a recently plowed field where there is no identifiable path and end our journey in the town of Northleach.
Northleach was an important medieval wool centre with interesting places to visit, including a wool church and an old prison.
This walk goes through the southern region of the Cotswolds. It gets few travellers and even fewer walkers. On this walk we did not see even one other hiker. And yet the views are magnificent, the region is beautiful and it is peaceful and quiet. If you are looking for a good Cotswold walk with undulating hills and amazing views, this is it.
