I had the opportunity to hang with Matt for a few days at one of John Daly's golf events in Tennessee, and let me tell you - the man is one of the most humble people you'll ever meet. We were just talking about hunting, life, and sports and the man kept buying ME beers. One of the best times of my life.
Drank for years daily til I’d black out. Just to numb the pain of all the horror I saw when I was in Iraq.
Never had the strength to just pause, take a moment stop and talk to the woman I had then and just tell her I’m falling apart.
I drove my life like a mustang pinned to the max til the wheels fell off. Lost my wife of 12 years, to a guy who had his stuff together.
Now I have to live with the mistakes I’ve made forever. My daughter now lives in a split home situation and I cleaned up for her.
I’m a very blessed man, god gave me a second chance to get my life together. I’ve had a rough road. But I know we all have.
It’s about being open sharing. And listening. Learn from your mistakes, take ownership and help others along the way.
I had an amazing wife who loved me, that was then. I think about her still. But I got a second chance again with a woman equally as amazing.
And things are a lot better now.

This is so much my current boyfriend. 7 yrs ago, he was that guy in the beginning. We stayed close but not together. We never slept together. Never would say he loved me. Then a few months ago we got together. He changed. Got himself together so well he helped me trust again. He finally told me he loved me after all this time. @@BearHawks i wish we had time together like that. I struggled at first with the 7yrs we lost but he says theres a reason. He believes we are stonger now than we would have been. Hes happy and I see it in everything he does, even on the days where hes completely wiped out from 17hrs of work. He hugs me and says its the best part of his day. Its amazing to know he valued our relationship enough to want us still. I feel very fortunate

@roadrash429 not sure if you’re responding to me or the other comment, but… what you’re referring to may be your situation but in my situation he was a alcoholic who made empty promises and let me pay the bills while he made excuses. Not to mention putting his hands on me after I tell him “hey I need help” ya know? Why would I keep someone who takes, takes, takes and then decides he’s man enough to break my nose but not man enough to be a real partner. I have 2 kids.. that’s plenty. Sorry if you’re going thru some craziness with someone. It sucks and I’ve been there. Hope it all works out.

Edit: we just got together last week and just found out she was still with her boyfriend and that she's there right now spending the night with him it really sucks I lost 130 pounds I stopped drinking I got a stable job now not sure if I should try to talk to her about it or just go even though I love her could really use a hard drink but I dont wanna break being sober for a year
Edit 2 I'm still sober the pain I've managed to get most of the way through everyone of you I wanna thank y'all so much some of you went through the same and some went through worse y'all have my respect and my sympathy for the hardships you guys went through I'm currently working harder to better myself I'm not gonna look for a relationship imma just let what happens happen thank you all again for all the nice and wonderful things y'all said

You can do this! (for you and her)...My brother says women give men purpose to become a better man, better father, better friend. I see that with all my brothers. Watching them, I learned men have a quiet loyalty to us (women) and as long as we dont accuse or make something that isnt there, they stay right where they are, no desire to be anywhere else. All of them have been married since high school to great women. 20 plus yrs. Sounds like shes given you value and purpose with what youve done already. Keep going, cuz I think you got this! Its awesome.
My boyfriend, The Devil tried to take him. He drank himself to death one night, got out of the hospital, I picked him up and he went out and got drunk that night. Got mean when he drank and liked to fight, hit and drive drunk. He went to prison. He went and then went back. I knew it wasn't him. I stayed with him. Every day I answered that phone so I could be a life line to him while he was going through detox being locked up. Thank God for his Mamma she helped me and the kids. Thank God for my folks, they helped too. I worked hard but was home at 4 p.m. to take his call and answered every letter. I could see that Light in his eyes and knew he could change. We are soul mates. I know we played together in Heaven. He rescued me and I him. We have been married now and both sober almost 25 years. We raised our two and his oldest are in our life and now grandbabies. My folks love him now. They hated him but that all changed when they saw he could change too. Our kids are successful and know the power of abusing alcohol and drugs. We love one another and I will be with him forever. I am forever glad I didn't give up on him.

Ive been in that same dark world that most people don't understand, but I took a stand against the evil of drugs and alcohol. I was done with dope after my heart was crushed that's why I started dope and drinking my self to death, but it got old and that is when I took a stand and walk out of the valley of shadow of death and walked in the light and now i can tell you im 6yr sober from heroin and alcohol and my life is better than ever

Currently going through a bad break up. I'm struggling day and night. Can't eat, can't sleep. I cry alot and pray even more. Today I had to leave early from work. If she would just give me another chance I've seen what I've done wrong and know I can better myself. Please God bring us back together

I have Struggled with alcohol. I can quit easily for a while. I haven't drank for 7 years at a time, 2 years at a time two days at a time. I just know it's caused me a lot of problems. It's been almost 3 years now. I'm 57 yrs old and because of my health I know I can't drink. I've always had an addictive personality. I'm so happy I stopped. I hope I continue being sober. 🙏
This is what country music is about. Tells a great story, people can relate to it and maybe even help them. I have never struggled with addiction, I have seen many loved ones go through it and I think about them when I here this song. Very well written song. This song should be on the radio and be a #1 hit!
