I’ve been holding down the handle in one of my bathrooms for 4 yrs now. Smh. Watched this and fixed it under 2 minutes lol. Thank you!!!!🙏🏾😁
You’re welcome! Thank you for the kind comment.
Excellent bro, fixed my two bathrooms. Thank you keep up the good vids
It worked, easy. Thank you for making the time to make this video.
God Bless you for making this video. I fixed my 1st toilet issue after watching a video by Roger Wakefield. Then went to Walmart and got a toilet handle and flapper to fix my other toilet with the help of your video. Thank you very much!.
Thanks! This was very helpful. I was about to got to Home Depot to get the whole kit, but your video fixed my problem. :-)
I watched your video my in-laws are coming over for Easter Dinner on April 2021 still in Covid-19 time so I decided to learn how to fix the toilet myself. I have not had another people in our home due to Covid-19 except my in-laws. I fixed it! Thank you
Thank you for this video! This is exactly what I needed to do and it works perfectly now. Was so tired of having to hold the handle down, was getting ready to buy a new handle.
Thank you so much! You helped my grandmother and I fix her toilet!
...my grandmother and me
THANK YOU!! I just replaced the internal parts to one of my toilets and holding down the handle was driving me crazy!! Fixed in 3 min!!
Thanks this solved my problem. I installed a new valve seat seal, new flapper and was still getting a running toilet unless I held it all the way down for an entire flush cycle.
I had to move the chain pretty significantly down to be as taut as yours but once I did everything works perfect now. The handle feels way less loose too. Thanks so much, I've been having to shut my water off after every time I flushed, it was so annoying.
If only I can figure out how to take down the chain. Edit: Just did. Thanks for your video issue is fixed. My chain wasn't connected in the little holes, it was somehow connected elsewhere where it shouldn't be and I couldn't figure out how to get it off. Now I have and toilet flushes!
This worked great. Thanks. Keep up the good vids.
This fixed my problem in less than 30 seconds, thank you!
You’re welcome!
Thanks for keeping it short and to the point. The other two guys videos I watched prior to this lost me with all their rants about Facebook and how they had to go to Home Depot and whatnot.
This video is great. Fixed my problem. Thank you.
Your idea worked! Thanks.
Thank you for this video.
Great suggestion! I really appreciate the knowledge on your CZcams channel. I have subscribed as well! Thank you again, sir!
Quick fix- thanks!!
Thank you much, work like a charm!
Thanks man. Worked great. Appreciate it. Now, on to the next thing on my 'honey do list' 😕
it worked! Thank you for the video. Very helpful!!
Happy to help🧻🚽👍
Wow!!! Thanks soon much I've been holding this handle down for years.
No more holding down the handle! Cheers.
Thanks short and sweet
I had the same issue. Turns out that the water level was too low.
Adjusted the float valve up, and it took care of the problem.
Thank you so much you are the best
Thanks to your video I just fixed my flushing problem 👏
You’re welcome. Thanks for the kind comment. 👍😎
Thank you my issue was solved because of your video!❤❤❤
You’re welcome!
You save my life
You’re welcome! Thank you for the kind comment!👍😎
Oh my god thank you. My toilet has had this problem for 6 months and it was so bad my guests always thought it was broken and wouldn’t flush. A few quick minutes and its good as new
You’re welcome! Thanks for the kind comment.
You’re welcome! Thanks for the kind comment.
Thanks!
Worked! Thanks so much. My BF wanted to just buy a new toilet. 🤦♀️
Worked like a charm Thx
Happy to help👍
Great video mate🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿!!
Thanks 👍😎
Thank you
Thank you! My apartment complex has taken a month to get to it. Drives my girls and I crazy.
TY
yup yes and yeah - and my flapper still drops too quickly.
Thanks! We use taut in Canada, or was that an accent, sounded like "taunt" (for the chain). 🙂
.
That was easy ! Thanks (Taunt) lol
Does this work for a sticking handle, also?
Didn't work for me unfortunately. Any other suggestions?
Adjust dial on flapper
@@thetubeinsideyou no dial on this flapper hahaha, i've tried swapping it out to no avail. Did try putting it on a different hole in the trip lever, same problem. I push the handle to flush, let go and the flapper immediately seals the hole.
@@Innuya you'll probably need to buy a valve seat seal kit, a steel wool sponge and and a new flapper.
Take the old flapper off, use the steel wool sponge to scrape off any grime or particles causing a bad seal on your flapper. Put the epoxy that comes with the seal on the back of the seal (use almost the whole tube) and press it firmly in the valve seat (the little whole where the water goes) and let it sit for 15 mins. Then add the new flapper and adjust the chain so it's almost completely taut in the water. It'll give you a perfect seal.
@@MasDouc Thanks for the response, though I've fortunately fixed the issue - by moving!
The problem I was having though, is that I'd push down the lever to flush and the flapper would go right back down. The toilet would only flush for a second or so. Had to hold down the lever for 20-30 seconds. Would the method you described have fixed that problem?
I’ve got it as tight as I can but I’m only getting about half a tank flush. Is there a solution for that?
Get a new chain
Sometimes this doesn’t help. If it doesn’t, you need to add a flapper float to that chain and just adjust the height of the float by trial and error.
What if the chain is taught?
What do you do if this doesn’t fix the problem? I’ve been messing with the chain at different lengths and it’s currently at taut as it will go but I still have to hold down to get it to flush 😢
Go to Home Depot and buy a flapper with a float attached to the chain. The float will hold the flapper up until the water drains down to the right level.
new toilets have an adjustable flapper bulb that either turns or snaps out and it determines how long the flush will be.
what if we don’t have a chain contraption?
You mean TAUT, not TauNt.
I prefer taunt
He taught me that taunt is the new taut
So the chain should be tight. Not a lot of slack?
i am holding handle down and it still will not completly flush..any suggestions.i do not think it is clogged..even when i try to plunge water will not go down...i don't think it is plumbing it's new about 5 years..i am trying to figure it out myself..this just started today..my husband passes away a year ago..so i try to do things myself and if i can't i call in professional..i am a 57 year old lady...trying to learn things so i can feel confident i can do things myself but if i can't i will call in the professional.i just want to know why even when i hold the handle down it still isn't completely flushing..thanks
This is the second one for the basement bat. czcams.com/users/postUgkxOuLt8IL_GxhhaK8DBuKEL-zV0UJVpWZn , works great
You’re welcome! Thank you for the kind comment!👍😎
I have a toilet that has been "fixed" by the landlord recently. He put an adjustable overflow valve, and an adjustable flapper into it, which he set both to be "low flow". After that it wouldn't even flush a piece of toilet paper. After watching a LOT of videos about how to fix this, and finding out that the "low flow" options do not work for toilets made before 1992 (which is my toilet), I adjusted the overflow valve to be higher, so the water level was the same as it used to be. After trying a bunch of times to adjust the adjustable flapper, and having nothing I tried work (I had to hold the handle down for almost the entire flush),I decided that maybe we need a new, older style, non adjustable flapper. So, today it arrived, and I installed it. I made sure to adjust the chain, and I adjusted it so there was very little slack. However, I still need to hold the handle down for a couple seconds when I flush it, to make it flush properly. I'm not sure why this is happening now. The toilet is not running, and other than having to hold the handle down for a couple seconds to make it flush, everything else is working fine now. I don't want to be continuously buying new flappers, just to have them not work, when I don't really know if it'll help anyway. What would your suggestion be?
To write a much smaller, concise, 1 sentence post so people are more likely to read your post and help you. The first few words should include your exact problem with request. Sorry I can't answer your question but trying a new asking method will deliver better results, I guarantee it.
Nice video, I think you meant taut, not taunt :).
That doesn't fix it for me, i just replaced the overfill valve which works great now but now the flapper slams shut too fast and the chain is set correctly...do i need to also replace the flapper or could it be something else? The flapper was working fine before i replaced the overfill valve lol
Yes, replace the flapper
Before buying a new flapper I tried draining the tank once more, took the flapper off and then back on, and adjusted the water flow a little slower and now I only have to hold the handle down for 4-5 seconds
Mine sounds like the water keeps running what can I do ? The handle is loose and won’t even pull the flap at all
Love Light Blessings change the flapper
"Taunt"? I think you mean taut. And agreed with the other poster -- it's weird that you didn't give a demonstration.
You have to taunt the toilet until it flushes properly. Mine is 16 years old. Taunting is all I have.
Just be glad he didn’t show us how he fixed his TAINT!
Ok it’s bad enough we have a bunch of Obnoxious Karens out there, now we have a mind numbing number of KENS popping up! Stop being critical of a simple typo on his part -it is clear what he was saying to normal People!
Does it make you feel like a real man to put another down or sick urge to point out what is obvious to everyone? So desperate to be right about something so clear?
Oh but then you had take it even further to try and justify your idiotic tactic to point out that someone else agrees with you!?!? So not only do you have to put another down, you need to point out that you have support? Oh, but let’s not stop there…now you whine because he didn’t demonstrate every step- that is absurd and a huge confirmation of your fragile insecure state of mind! He showed a very clear video of a brainless easy job! All you demonstrated was your deep rooted insecurities and low self esteem AND you are so ignorant, you have to be shown how to move a chain up or down a notch…🙄🙄🙄🙄how utterly pathetic! There are therapists that can help! Do yourself and the audience a favor and seek help and maybe refrain from posting anymore!
But, you knew what he was meaning, right?! So, instead of thanking him for providing this free tip, you chose to criticize? I was able to fix my issue with this simple fix.
If you needed a demonstration, perhaps you should hire a plumber…at the rate of $75-$100/hour.
@@jasonmysinger9464 While the tit-for-tat comment re: the plumber wasn't necessary, you make a fair point. I was likely in a bad mood when I wrote that, but that doesn't make it okay.
Sending my apologies, Check it Out!
If this isn't the solution, you need a new flapper and/or ring (flapper and/or chain can degrade over time). They come in replacement kits at hardware store.
No n in taut
Taut
I think the word you're looking for is "taut"... "taunt" is when you goad someone on to be angry
Yup 👍 thx
Don't hate me.... but the word is "Taut". "Taunt" means something else. My mom always said this and it drove me crazy haha.
The word is taut not taunt.
Yep, you are correct! It’s amazing how many times I screw up!
"taut"
😂👍😎
Didn't solve my problem. My toilet flushes only if I hold the handle long, about 6 seconds(((((
Consider replacing the flapper.👍
Americans talk so much that it takes them 2 minutes to say something that should only take 10 seconds. "If you have to hold down the flash handle to keep the water flowing, try shortening the chain until there's no slack"
Yeah, that’s not a fix. Usually it’s an adjustment on your flapper
Thanks!!!
