  • If your toilet keeps running try this quick fix. A toilet that won't stop running can cause an expensive water bill. So we better fix this thing. It could be as simple as adjusting the handle. A sticking toilet handle can make your toilet run all night. "Kaching" sound and not in a good way. I don't know about you but we live in the middle of the desert and water isn't cheap. So lets fix this thing and save some money.
    The toilet in this video is a Mansfield toilet.

    Fixed the problem and gave me insight into how the operation in the tank works. Thanks so much.

    Those Mansfield flushing assemblies were recommended to me some years back. Made in USA...so I'm in.
    turns out I bought a pallet of tanks at an auction once....each tank had that assembly. Paid $20 for the whole pallet. I do like auctions. tHanks for the video

    Thank you. I have been battling with the same problem and just couldn't get it to work. All it needed was to loosen the nut.

    I bought the handle with the metal arm and it works fine. Our problem is that the tower closes too fast for a full flush. If I hold the handle down I can get a full flush. I’m trying to find a fix for that. Also, the hose will pop out of the hole randomly. So we tried taping it to the top but the tape doesn’t stick when it gets wet. Any suggestions?

      The hose could be worn out. They can get a little stretched out over time. So you may just need a new hose. As far as the flush goes the newer toilets will have buttons with 2 flush options. One is a fast flush and the other is a full flush. I think these older toilets are the same way you get a quick flush when you flush it and a full flush when you hold down the handle.

    One more thing to check, which may be more in cases in apartment complexes, is that the tank lever is the correct style for your tank. The maintenance workers of this 200+ unit complex that I live in installed the wrong one on my tank and so it pressed against the inside of the tank and got stuck when in the up position. The temporary fix for me was to loosen the handle nut way beyond what it should be. This allowed the handle to pivot in the xy direction, which prevented the lever from being pressed into the inside wall of the tank.

      Great point. I have had that happen to me too. The plastic handle rod broke on our tank and when I went to replace it all I could find was the longer one and it caused some sticking issues. So I had to loose the handle to get it to work.

    I loosened the nut and it's still getting stuck. It's a brand new handle and was a tad bit too long. I shortened it so I could slide it through, but it keeps getting stuck. Please help!

      If you have tried loosening the nut as much as you can and it's still stuck it could be the plastic arm. They also make a metal one with a much thinner arm. I was going to try that one. The amazon link is in the video description.

    Hey? What is holding the camera so steady?

    • @ThatHobby
      @ThatHobby  Před rokem +2

      That was kind of tricky. It was a tight space and I couldn't fit a tripod in the bathroom. But there was a shelf above the toilet so I ended setting my phone on the edge of the shelf with the camera lens facing down to my work area. I wouldn't recommend it. I have dropped a few of my phones and broke them trying to film stuff like that. I got a GoPro and have been trying to use it more but my phone fit just right on the shelf so went with it.

      @@Dancing_Alone_wRentals I have tried some pretty crazy stuff. I ended up building a overhead boom arm to mount my GoPro on in my workshop. I didn't have to do anything that crazy for this video. The flapper won't stop running??? 🤔

    • @ThatHobby
      @ThatHobby  Před rokem

      Yeah that is common problem too. They sell the flappers individually. So you can just buy that part. They can crack, shrink or warp over time and will stop sealing.
