For everyone wondering, the water isn’t gross. The brown color is just iron deposits. Happens if you have well water in some areas and doesn’t cause any harm to the water except leaving some stains in your shower or toilet
Looks like poo
She is right.
I had a well and know what you mean. Ironout helps to get rid of the rust.
No it's dirty water. You need to clean that inside with soap
I think someone dropped an upper decker in that tank. Yeesh!
Owen Cowan uhh no. Tank water should be clean and clear.
Owen Cowan it’s clean water, stupid! It’s the same as faucet water. How do people as dumb as you function day to day? You could literally go to your toilet right now, take off the lid, and you’ll see that it’s clear. In fact, you should be able to drink it in an absolute emergency. Stick to your outhouse if this is too complicated for you.
what state do you live in?
Texas...only thing there is Steers and.......
@@OCC_Plumbing_and_Restorations You keep telling people to look in their tank. I don't know where you live, but I DO have hard water and my tank doesn't look anything at all like this. It's still clear.
Hi Joshua, THANK YOU for this ... Oh my word! The toilet handle in our one-bed, one bath condo has been sticking for MONTHS and it's been driving me up the wall. I followed your simple, sage advice and loosened the nut on the handle (which had been over tightened at some point so the main beam inside the tank was making contact with the rough surface of the inner tank wall, which was what was causing the handle to stick). One small tweak with an adjustable wrench and VOILA! A;; fixed. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
YOU ARE LITERALLY THE ONLY FREAKING PERSON ON THE ENTIRE INTERNET THAT IS SHOWING HOW TO FIX TOILETS THAT DON'T USE FLAPPERS AND CHAINS. I FUCKING LOVE YOU. YOU LITERALLY JUST SOLVED MY PROBLEM AFTER 2 FUCKING HOURS OF RESEARCHING ALL OVER THE GD INTERNET. FUCK WHOEVER INVENTED THESE PLASTIC STICK TOILETS, EVERYTHING BREAKS ALL THE FUCKING TIME!!!!!!!!!

Calm down. Happy for you.
This video is 10 years old and still helping new home owners like me! Thank you so much!
Woah where does this guy live!!?? Michigan?? That water looks crazy! But it worked though thanks!
fuck you, i live in MI
@@austinmiller1339 your video ro so nice

We love your video
@@austinmiller1339 don’t be offended everyone knows MI water is toxic 😂 we really feel bad for you and hope things get better, no one is lookin down on y’all for it. We look down on the government for it.
Wished I’d looked you up about 6 months ago when this problem started. I desperately need a fix today and figured I’d check CZcams because my plumber is unreliable when he’s available. Thanks for fixing my problem in less time than it takes to talk to the plumber! 👍🏽 ❤
Thank you, I lived with a sticky handle / over-running toilet for two years and was able to fix it in literally one minute after watching this video, the handle nut was just too loose!
Thanks looking forward to trying this! Getting tired of pulling handle up and waiting to make sure the water quits after filling the tank. . .
One more thing to check, which may be more in cases in apartment complexes, is that the tank lever is the correct style for your tank. The maintenance workers of this 200+ unit complex that I live in installed the wrong one in my tank and so it pressed against the inside of the tank and got stuck when in the up position. The temporary fix for me was to loosen the handle nut way beyond what it should be. This allowed the handle to pivot in the xy direction, which prevented the lever from being pressed against the inside wall of the tank.
I’m a new home owner it worked!!!? Saved $$$ Thank you.
Its a little funny to me now but, a whole year I've lived at my new house with this problem! It took me a minute to fix after watching this and now the world is a lot better again.....
thank you sir! :-)
Thank you!!!! Moved into a new apartment and everything keeps breaking. Its nice see someone actually demonstrating what each thing is instead of me having to read and guess this information. Thank you!!!!!
Sometimes, as with my toilet, it gets stuck because the arm catches against the inner edge of the tank lid. Had to bend the arm away (toward the center of the tank) a bit to fix that particular problem.
Thanks Justin. How do you replace the foam as I believe it is sticking when flushed?
Thanks so much! It worked!
Awesome! It worked!
Thank you so much! That sorted it!
I like how gently you talk. I'm going to try this fix. The handle on my toilet is very loose and the nut is not on straight. I hope I don't break it!
I checked my toilet as it’s stick is sticking too. The foam is missing that you mentioned should be cleaned dry, from where can I get it?
Thank you SO much!!!!
You're the BEST1
Helpful note is that it's reversed threaded!
Oh, thank you. I was wondering about that as my brain said, righty-tighty, lefty- loosey
You just saved me a handy man call. THANKS!
If you have a chain mechanism, make sure that the chain is tight.
Also, the top of the toilet might interfere with the movement of the handle. You might need to reposition it or bend the handle away from it.
One of the key points is the threaded nut is left-handed. How can you forget that part when removing and installing the nut??
whats the name of the piece with the foam on it? mine napped
snapped off and pops out the filler tube every time I flush
It is called a Mansfield stop cap.
Silly comment about the water color. It is quite common, depending on your water
I soaked it in vinegar to get the mineral deposits off, and that did it. (also followed up with a water rinse, towel dry, and wd40 to make sure no water was hanging around in it to corrode the hinge)
That is exactly what I was going to try. I’m going to give it a shot. Vinegar worked on my sticking float, poured it over the moving parts and it works pretty good since.
How can you do a video about this and not mention that the thread is reversed?
Does anyone know what this type of handle with no chain is called? I’m looking for a replacement because mine snapped and all I can find are the handles with the chains.
FusionMTL I wish I could help you. I am having the exact same issue.
Mine has been seized for years. The threaded part turns. I guess some Lime-A-Way might free it up. It's not plastic.
Do anybody know what toilet handle lever that is?
Totally forgot to mention the flush valve seal. That's more likely the culprit than anything this video covered.
If all else fails, you and pick up a new(inexpensive)handle at the plumbing dept of any hardware retailer Re-install per this video instruction.
I can't get the plastic ring off thats next too the flush lever. It's gettting stripped. Sprayed it with WD40 and it still wont come off. Can't risk it being stripped completely so I just gotta deal with it and tell everyone who uses my toilet they gotta press the handle up after flushing.
It’s reverse threaded. RIGHTY LOOSEY!!!
Can find replacement parts at the hardware store!
Just as expected
Mine is still stuck...
Will give it a try but I couldn't see the part after where you removed, cleaned & then retightened the bolt. If you could pan out a bit with the camera because I couldn't see where you were working for the 2nd part of the fix - where you said you might need to add a bit of foam - hands in the way of camera. Thanks
Super glue and bedroom fun don’t mix. You and your partner will need to head to ER to get a doctor to unstick you from her.
Omg, I’m either ignorant of how some people’s toilet water looks (mine is completely clear) or that is genuinely very dirty… can anyone explain?
Helpful video though! Lmao
Double decker
Apparently neither of those solutions are the answer to my problem which is the hard suction between the cap ring that closes over the drain and the rubber ring that meets up with it. When the tank is empty of water it opens and closes just fine, but when there's water in the tank those two rubber rings get stuck together.
Yea that didn't work for me. The metal part that the bold tightens around is breaking apart and there's a lot of calcified stuff stopping the handle from turning properly : (
You can buy replacement parts at the local hardware store. Just bring them the parts needing replaced and they will help you find the replacement parts.
Folks! Water that color is everywhere. Not unusual at all.
Is it not lefty loosy?
I think the water line is hooked to the sewage line instead.......nasty.
Have you heard of hard water? Do you know what iron and minerals are? Look in your toilet tank before criticising him.
Maybe this was filmed in Flint Michigan?
Handle is new , cleaned everything off, plastic bolt isnt tight. And STILL the damn handle wont return to upright position
Well, that was unexpected
😂you did not show how to put in a little piece of foam.😢😢😢
That’s some nasty as water lol 😂
Why is the water red
Ever never ever seen a toilet like that before. What the F is he taking about with a pillar and dry foam? On my planet, there’s a big rubber flapper that opens and closes. Also, reverse thread handle nut?? Alternate dimension?
Good video, lovely tatoos, don't over tighten it .
is that water getting re-cycled back to the tank when you flush?... yikes!
Have you heard of hard water? Do you know what iron and minerals are? Look in your toilet before criticising others. I'm sure yours is the same
That is some spicy water!
This guy says that you want the bolt to be a little finger tight but then he pulls out the pliers and uses it? lmfao
He says "You want it a little bit over finger tight." So, just a little more tight then the finger can manage.
Someone gave you an upper decker???

I think someone dropped a duece in that upper tank...or they live in Michigan
Why would he do a video with the water looking like that?
He is a person trying to help people. Look in your toilet and then apologize to him.
Great video, but the water in the tank is gross.....
I poop in the toilet bowl. Are we supposed to poop in the tank part? I'll give it a try next time.

why is that water brown???
