  • A stuck toilet handle isn't necessarily a plumbing problem that requires a complicated fix.
Here's one simple fix that can solve the issue.

Wow, tyvm! I am delighted that I can actually perform this task. Our handle is not working directly after our plumber came, charged $250 for 10 mins to change the flapper and now not only is the handle all wonkie and either kind of just hangs down or is sort of stuck in horizontal alignment and it takes a long time to fill (my husband says that it no longer has water conserving capabilities). Further, the tank itself is up higher and you can see under or between the tank and the commode (like the dust line from where it has been seamlessly together for years) as if they accidentally put the tank-to-bowl gasket back upside down or something. Like you can see under the tank. It is a a little but enough that you can see it and it is now rocking. None of this was there before they came yesterday. I am concerned because I do not want to call them back to try to restore its functioning or for any reason. But I do not know if calling someone else is the right thing to do. Thank you for your excellent tutorial. Will check back with a follow-up.

One more thing to check, which may be more in cases in apartment complexes, is that the tank lever is the correct style for your tank. The maintenance workers of this 200+ unit complex that I live in installed the wrong one in my tank and so it pressed against the inside of the tank and got stuck when in the up position. The temporary fix for me was to loosen the handle nut way beyond what it should be. This allowed the handle to pivot in the xy direction, which prevented the lever from being pressed into the inside wall of the tank.

The ad was longer than the video. Lol

Not sure why there are downvotes for this video . . . our 18 year-old toilet's handle was slow to rise recently, so I unscrewed it from the back, cleaned out dust and all, added silicone lubricant at both ends and actuated it until that got inside. The handle is no longer slow/sticking and acts as normal again.

I down voted because it doesn't tell me where to clean. I'll remove my down vote if you can describe to me what I am supposed to clean? Also, where should silicone lubricant go? What is the "toilet arm"? This is a CZcams video, we're watching this because we are not experts. This needs to be explained. I'm sure other people have similar grievances.

Guessing the down votes are for the many other styles of handles/toilets that require a different fix not covered by a simple cleaning and lube (like mine). A competent DIY blogger would have given more useful information regarding this issue - even more basics (like excess chain).

Exactly. This is a shitty video. Down vote.

Many dislikes probsbly because video is long when you could just say to “clean it” or something.

Because you just gave 10x the information in your comment than the video contained.

Well this was super gay. Its most likely the seal in the vacuum tank or the rod that connects the handle to the tank/mechanism has either become detached or snapped.
    Wow.
