I have the exact toilet with the original Kohler handle. My handle won't come out of the tank because of the bend on the steel part and I can't get the part seperated from the handle because the screw is really stuck. Any ideas? Also, looking at the link you provided for the part Kohler shows a washer and nut and I do not have a washer.
Easy to install, czcams.com/users/postUgkxjA-hDN2m8_mi0Dg0JD8U6QiArozIAc4I and comfortable. No idea what other people were talking about when they said it was difficult to install or uncomfortable.
I tried this but so far am stuck on the initial step as the retainer nut won't budge loose? It has never been replaced since the toilet was installed 12 years ago. What do you do then?
I had to do this today. Mine was stuck together and I could not move the lever. I just used a big plier and just turn. It will eventually come lose. Also I pulled on the handle at the same time
Why does Kohler put the handle pointing towards the back of the toilet instead of the front, where it would be more easily accessible? Very odd design. I installed it pointing to the front to make it more easily reached, and I pull up to flush instead of pushing down.
They may make a plastic one but I can get metal from my supplier. They’re a professional wholesaler though. Most big box stores will just carry plastic items.
This was very helpful! Thank you.
Glad it helped!!
thanks for pointing the nut goes in reverse!
all toilet handle nuts are reverse

How do you make the handle tighter? Seems super loose
It was fine.

It might be reverse thread. Or not enough pressure is being applied.

Not sure. I see your point tho.
Mines was toward the front I believe lol yes it makes since thought
from the side the amount of lift on the flapper seems less than when the handle is front mount
FYI, Kohler now uses a plastic arm which cannot be bent if necessary. Annoying
