As how I learned of this track from the joke game Charles Barkley Shut Up & Jam Gaiden, and was listed in the game files as "Jesus Christ That Guy from Deep Purple Sang this" .
But seriously, Ian Gillan & Nobuo Umematsu, what a wild combo for your standard boss music.

I've never played Blue Dragon, sadly - it seems good though, got them Chrono vibes... But I went to this song because I knew it was the one in Barkley. A billion megajoules of b-ball energy radiated into my hands and forced me to click it.

If the lead singer sounds familiar, he is Ian Gillian of Deep Purple, one of the bands that helped inspire Nobuo Uematsu's style! I'd encourage anyone to go back and listen to Highway Star, and you'll instantly recognize the identical screams in both songs.

For anyone who hasn’t ever played Blue Dragon, Eternity is boss battle music. With all its energy it really does fit in with the feel of those battles. Been a long time since I played the game, but I still listen to Eternity regularly. It’s not a song you’d want to forget.

Also worth noting, this soundtrack was composed by Nobuo Uematsu. The game itself was created by Hironobu Sakaguchi, who was also the creator of Final Fantasy. This and Lost Odyssey were both created by his own game studio, Mistwalker.

Man this game has some fun songs.
Blue Dragon is best known for being the debut game of Mistwalker, the studio Hironobu Sakaguchi founded after leaving Square. It's a fun game that suffered from having the kind of expectations that come with being the first work from the father of Final Fantasy after going independent so it got more criticism than it probably deserved over how traditional a JRPG it was. Lost Odyssey came out a year later from the same studio and very much overshadowed it by being the next gen looking epic people were expecting.
Both of them suffered from being Xbox exclusives though, the market in Japan was and still is totally dominated by Nintendo and Sony.

"Man this game has some fun songs."
What I wouldn't give to find a version of In Search of the Ruins longer than 2 minutes. It's such a catchy tune.
Also, I LOVED Lost Odyssey I even dare say it's the last great Final Fantasy game. It's sad to hear that Mystwalker has no desire to remaster it. But I really wish they would port it to PC.

This is easily a very underrated RPG. It's pathetically easy on normal mode, but pleasantly challenging on hard. The soundtrack is top-tier as well. My personal favourites of this game are Cave/Cavern. They are 2 songs, but the latter one is basically a slightly faster version with some amazing guitar play added to it.

@@crowcoregames1785 The only boss that wasn't a complete joke on normal was the final boss. My first playthrough was on the hard mode though. I can say that I absolutely loved it. But it is pretty much a jump from very easy to very hard, that's how big the difference is. Well, maybe just 'hard' once you get past the first disc or so.
I'm not sure if you can still get the free Super Hard mode DLC these days (includes hard mode and a harder difficulty, but that latter one can only be beaten with an NG+ because the enemies are simply far too strong).

@@crowcoregames1785 I forget exactly since it was quite a while ago for me. But I do recall beating just about every boss in 2-3 turns on the normal mode save for the final one. There might have been a boss that gave me slightly more trouble than pathetically easy, but I'm pretty sure every boss other than the final one was a pushover for me.
I am really experienced with JRPG's though and have beaten quite a few hard ones (and ones on the hard difficulty). Something like Final Fantasy Crisis Core was not really meant to be played on the hard mode from a fresh new game, but I still did it and beat it because it was possible. I suppose a few bosses may prove to be slightly challenging for someone who isn't as apt and experienced at these types of games.

  • @n1fffan
    @n1fffan Před rokem +1

I'm sure enough people have by now said enough on this game to give you an idea of Blue Dragon as a game. It is a JRPG exclusive to XBox (released originally on the 360, and available to play on newer consoles via backwards compatibility. The work of a GOD TEIR dream team consisting of:
Hironobu Sakaguchi (creator of Final Fantasy)
Akira Toriyama (just the guy that made a little known manga called Dragon Ball... Idk if anyone knows about that, someone might have heard about it, maybe...)
and Nobuo Uematsu (legendary composer for Final Fantasy.)
This is actually the the boss battle theme, so in game, this music actually loops from that end solo transitioning us back into the first verse, and you do not get that end in game, that is essentially soundtrack exclusive.
The vocalist of the song is Deep Purple frontman, Ian Gillan. The band of which being a huge inspiration for Uematsu as a composure. So having such a legendary singer supplying the vocals made this boss theme on such an epic level.
When I first heard this song, I was over at a friend's house and he was playing this on his 360. He got to the first boss (of which I didn't realize he was that early in the game at the time) and when heard the opening of this theme, my jaw dropped to the floor... I knew I HAD to have this game. The day I bought this game, I was singing this song somewhat quietly going into GameStop, and quietly to myself on the way home. This song is THE high point in this game imo. The game is pretty good, story is ok, battles are good. I don't feel like giving a more in depth review right now, but if there is in interest, it's been a few years since my last playthrough, but I think I can muster up a good enough summarization of my personal experience with this game.
I have a little nephew who very recently took interest in the game. He's still a little too early for the first battle. I'm looking forward to seeing him react to this boss theme when it starts.

Blue Dragon was a thing I tried to get into so hard. I tried the game and forced myself through it despite not enjoying it much at all, I watched the anime when the dub first aired then watched all of it in the subbed version. Then I went back to finish the game to force my way into trying to like it until the end with no luck. This song remains as the only thing from the game I remember liking from the game and is still on my usual driving and grinding playlists.

this song is the Boss music that plays on every major boss fight. Blue Dragon has a few hidden tracks that blew me away when i was 13. the mecha robo march theme, Eternity and some of the Ruins themes absolutely made me stop just to listen.
