    I had the biggest smile on my face when this song first started playing because it has such an old-school classic Uematsu sound to it.
    I remember I called my wife in from the other room and cranked the volume up, even though I'm in an apartment.
    So when that guitar kicked in the first time it was super loud, fully unexpected and scared me half to death. Great times.

      Not sure why the song is design this way but it make for some funny moment, I remember hen I discover this I was still in my parent's home, I took a break on the World Map to take a coffee, my dad (he was playing the game to, but he didn't know either about the guitar part) and I were discussing in the kitchen and suddenly the guitar kicks in and we were both like "The fuck is this ?" XD

    Lost Odyssey really is one of the best and most underrated games put there. Beautiful world building, ost, story, and just everything about the game is just so gorgeous and more people need to play it.
    As for the gameplay, it's a turn based jrpg, made by the OG creators of Final Fantasy. I just adore everything about this game

  • @StoneyWoney

    Uematsu understands perfectly the musical context he has to add to a scene.
    This song is just playing in the world map menu. Not many would write such a touching melody for a freaking travel menu. Because it usually is of no big importance. But in the case of Lost Odyssey, featuring an immortal who kept travelling the world over the course of a thousand years, more often than not suffering from his aimlessness and the endless cycles of war and tragedy he encounters....it is really important to set a proper mood, even for the simplest of journeys.
    Fantastic work from him, as always.

    Real happy to see this song here and that you enjoyed it so much! Lost Odyssey is an rpg made by the studio, Mistwalker which was founded by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy. Between that and Nobuo Uematsu composing, it basically feels like a Final Fantasy by another name. There are even some little references.
    I've always loved the main part of the song and was completely caught off guard and uncertain about the guitar part at first, but now I just love the whole thing.

  • @tamashii6670

    Amazing song, my favourite from "Lost Odyssey", reminds me a bit "Terra's Theme" from Final Fantasy VI, maybe because of flute, another very catchy song, I love especially that old version from SNES, I think you could like it. ;) Two more beautiful and memorable songs from "Final Fantasy" are "Zanarkand" from FFX and "The Place I'll Return to Someday" from FFIX, these more theme/main songs, but amazing. And all three songs I mentioned are by Nobuo Uematsu.

  • @OExplosion

    I will never forget the first time I heard the whole song in its entirety. I went to the map screen and left the game there to go get some food and as I came back to the room the guitar just started shredding and I was amazed at what I was hearing. Most of the time you are on this screen for no longer than 20 seconds so there was never going to be a time where I would have heard the entire song unless it was by accident

    Microsoft needs to pay Mistwalker Studios so much money to make a sequel to this. I didn't play this until the xbox one was already out. Played through the backwards compatibility in about 2016. But THIS was the true ff13 for me. I love ff13 but THIS is where FF should have gone in the 360 era. And it makes sense considering the father of FF was the director along with Nobuo Uematsu composing. What an incredible game this was as someone who missed that feeling of older FF games.

      I didn't like the 'major' one that followed either, which is The Last Story. The gameplay was okay, but it being unbalanced made a lot of the mechanics useless. If you're struggling for a bit, there's a way to easily grind levels very quickly allowing you to power through gimmick sections that would otherwise require strategy. In fact, it would be harder to stay on-level in that game even on the hard mode. Doesn't help that the story surrounding the main couple is complete trash and is easily among the worst romance stories in gaming.

    A great thing about this theme is the music influences from traditional music of the Andes mountains. If you want to listen to music like this, look into Chilean and Peruvian Andean folklore music. A band that combines that music with 70's progressive rock was the Chilean band, Los Jaivas. There's surely others, but I can recommend that one.

    Hi there Uncle Jesse! Back on my feet and all better from sickness. You just listened to my favourite map music track of any game ever. Lost Odissey is such a gem of a game, that only released on Xbox 360 and it is considered, by many rpg fans, as one of the bests non Final Fantasy games made by Sakaguchi-san with an amazing score made by Uematsu-san. So, once again, some more music sugestions for you:
    - Epsylon Range - Lost Odissey;
    - A Mighty Enemy Appears- Lost Odissey;
    - Saman, Town of Merchants - Lost Odissey;
    - Battle with the Demons- Lost Odissey:
    - Dark Saint - Lost Odissey;
    - Main Theme - Lost Odissey.
    You said you wanted more from this game, so there you go. Man, I wish more people could have played this game. It is so good on so many levels, especialy how the game deals with mortality and the passage of time. Cheers, stay safe and happy VGMs to us all

    Lost Odyssy is probably one of the most impressive rpgs I've played. Its not even the combat or grapics for the time but the story and the massive amount of history created for the characters. Kaim's memories are amoung the most heart wrenching short stories about love survival forgivness and tragedy. I think at least 3 made me cry and they have such a beautiful way of presenting them. If you dont want to journey through the game definately find some videos or such about the stories. They will tear your heart and mend it at the same time.

    Lost Odyssey is traditional turn based JRPG made with same feeling, style and love as Final Fantasies 7-9. It tells a story of Kaim, man who was cursed(?) with eternal life. At the start of the game he is already 10 000 years old. Through the game you go and gather his memories all around the world, at the same time the player starts slowly to understand why Kaim is so distant to others. He had learned that in his Neverending Journey everyone around him will die and so he struggles to find meaning for his existence. Lost Odyssey is really beautiful game released for Xbox360 in 2007.

    All music in this game was composed and produced by Nobuo Uematsu, so I get what you mean when you're talking about good melodies. One of Uematsu's greatest strengths is the melody itself.
    I'll also throw it out there that there are 2 other people who also worked on the music of the game: Satoshi Henmi and Hiroyuki Nakayama. Uematsu composed everything but Henmi and Nakayama arranged everything in the end. Unfortunately, we'll never know who arranged which track since the OST booklet doesn't specify it.
