There is a possibility that she has a limit of what she could do.
The desire to be reunited with a dear friend can trump a generational long sacred responsibilities. Reimu may act the whole 'whatever' attitude but it's clear she treasures those close to her, even if she herself doesn't realize it.

She won't. That last part was to show that Reimu could move on from what happened and be happy again. Yukai took the hat in the end because she knew she wouldn't notice if the hat was gone.

@MistPower101 The book that Reimu found contained a sectre resurection spell. In order to use the spell you need to sacrifice something of same worth as what you're resurecting. Reimu saw that the the Hakurei Barrier and Gensokyo itself had the same worth as Yukari, thus she's trying to sacrifice Gensokyo iteself in order to bring back Yukari. Alice, Marisa and Sakuya are trying to stop Reimu from breaking the boarder and ending Gensokyo.

I've watched this with subs and I must say that the story is so much more powerful and you get so much more out of it if you are not being forced to read subtitles.

After watching this a gazillion (approx) times; I've only just noticed that, at the end, when Reimu's mostly gotten over Yukari that she's grown her hair long. It looks surprisingly good on her.
Makes the ending a little happier seeming for me, which is nice after the gut punch of Yukari dying.
Clicked this by accident and had to watch it again. MANLY TEARS!

reimu cry because after received enough damages,she saw yukari. in the dream,yukari left her (because she can alive finally so she went back to gensoukyo and disappear). but when reimu saw yukari disappear, she thought her action was fail so yukari left her. that is why reimu cry( she thought she can never see yukari again).
recently i found a doujin manga telling a similar story. i think this pv is base on that story but i only have chinese version. in that manga, yukari did save gensoukyo.

@Ultrapyre Actually a full invasion force seems like what would happen cause of all the yokai (both the known ones and the unknown ones) going wild and eating any human they see which will probably result in a retaliation force.

... Marisa, Alice, and Sakuya try to stop her, because loss of the Hakurei Border means no Gensokyo. Upon being knocked unconscious, Reimu sees Yukari in her "dream", and realizes that Yukari will always be there for her. Reimu wakes up (during her sleep Marisa put her head on her lap) and isn't sad anymore. At the scene where Yukari's hat was taken away, I believe this is when Yukari comes back, and takes her hat, because she's not Yukari without her hat. This may have also been a "joke". ;)
