In today's video we go over hilariously confusing records of Nathan Horton, Marty Turco, Gordie Howe, Campoli, Matt Murray, Ken Dryden, and Derrick Pouliot.

Getting a shutout loss is the worst feeling ever as a goalie. Like wtf you mean I got a shutout, yet I lost the game. Doesn’t even make sense. I’d rather have the goal count towards me. I mean it’s not considered a shutout if it ends in OT, so why is it considered one if it ends in a shootout? I think it should be counted as a goal against the goalie, but not affect his SV%. So it would still show as 38-38 or whatever, but then it wouldn’t be counted as a shutout. So the GAA should still be affected, but since I know GAA is calculated based on how many goals you let in per 60 minutes time on ice, and there’s no clock in a shootout, I think if it goes to a shootout, GAA should be automatically calculated as 65 minutes time in ice for the game. And then however many goals you give up. So if a game is 2-2 snd the end of regulation, and team A’s goalie had 59:45 of TOI because of being off the ice for either delayed penalties or being pulled for an extra attacker, and team B’s goalie has say 59:23, then it goes into OT, then into a shootout and team A’s goalie after OT had 64:45 and team B’a goalie had 64:15 because of 1 delayed penalty in OT, then say team A goes 2-3 in the shootout and team B goes 1-3 so team A wins 3-2 final score. Then team A’s goalie should have 2 goals against in 65 minutes of time on ice because it went to a shootout so that but of time should count and erase the time he was off the ice for delayed penalties or what not during the game, giving him a GAA of 1.85, and team B’s goalie would have 3 goals against in 65 minutes giving him a GAA of 2.77. I mean why is it fair that the goalie who won the shootout has the same GAA as the one who lost? Just because they don’t count the shootout awarded goal as a goal? In fact, as the current way it’s done works, technically, is a game was 0-0 and went to a shootout and team A went 2-2 in the shootout and team B went 0-2 not needed a third shooter obviously, technically both goalies get a shutout, which isn’t fair for the goalie who stopped literally EVERYTHING, even in the shootout, and the goalie who LOST and let in 2-2 on the shootout, also gets a shutout? Not fair. Look at the example I gave before 2-2. Say it’s the same thing, but as they do it now. Now say team A went 2-2 in the shootout and Team B went 0-2, and say Team A’s goalie had 64:25 time on ice due to delayed penalties and such, and team B’s goalie had 64:45 seconds time on ice. Well now, team B’s goalie, despite losing, and despite letting both shootout attempts go in, actually comes out with a better GAA then team A’s goalie who let in the same amount of goals in regulation and OT, and stopped both shootout attempts. Because he was off the ice for a little more time due to delayed penalties and such, and because the goal awarded after the shootout doesn’t count for the losing goalie. Team A’s goalie would have a 1.86 GAA while team B’s goalie would have a 1.85 GAA. Just because he was on the ice for 20 more seconds throughout regulation and OT. Even though he lost, and gave up both shootout attempts. That makes no sense. It should be counted as a goal, and for making it to a shootout the goalies TOI should automatically be at max, or maybe given 30 seconds extra. Even if they were already actually at 65 minutes. That way if one goalie never had to leave the ice and played a full 65 minutes, and the other goalie had a situation where his team had a delayed penalty advantage and he got off the ice and his team managed to hold control for like 3 minutes before the other team touched it, and that other goalie only had 62 minutes time on ice. It isn’t an authentic give him 3 freaking minutes for the shootout as that wouldn’t be fair at that point to the other goalie. And 30 seconds because it’s a 3 round shootout, say 10 seconds an attempt. If it goes longer it doesn’t matter because you’re already helping them because they may give up all 3 attempts but you aren’t counting those goals against the GAA and so adding the time per attempt if it goes to 20 rounds and they let in all 20 attempts isn’t fair because at the end you only count 1 goal in this scenario so it just keeps helping them even if they sucked in the shootout. So just an added 30 seconds for making it to OT.
So for 2 examples as to how I think it should work. Game is 0-0 going into a shootout. Team A’s goalie has 65 minutes played and stopped all 38 shots. Team B’s goalie has 62 minutes played and stopped all 32 shots. Now you give both goalies an extra :30 to their TOI. Team A wins in the shootout going 2-2. Team B went 0-2 in the shootout. As it stands currently, Team A’s goalie would have a shutout, a win, and have a 0.00 GAA, while team B’s goalie would also have a shutout, a loss, and a 0.00 GAA. Not right. Now with my idea, team A’s goalie would now have a shutout, a win, and a 0.00 GAA and a 1.000 sv% as well as an extra :30 to add to his season total for TOI which helps his total GAA since it doesn’t really show it when it’s a shutout. And team B’s goalie would instead now NOT have a shutout, would have a loss, and would have a 0.96 GAA due to having 62:30 TOI after the additional :30 were added. And would still have a 1.000 sv% because it wouldn’t be fair to count every shot and goal in the shootout as they’re all breakaways with no back checking pressure. I mean, MAYBE you just add 1 goal and 1 shot so he instead went 32-33 giving him a .970 sv%? I don’t know, that ones harder to work out if there should be a fix for it or not.
Another example, 1-1, team A’s goalie, 62 minutes TOI, team B’s goalie, 65 minutes TOI, team A goes 2-5 in the shootout, team B goes 1-5 in the shootout. Team A’s goalie gets the win, and 62:30 TOI with 1GA and a 0.96 GAA. Team B’s goalie gets the loss, 65:30 TOI with 2GA and a 1.83 GAA. Vs Team A’s goalie getting 62 mins TOI, still a 0.97 GAA, and Team B’s goalie getting 65 mins TOI with a 0.92 GAA.
I mean, I think it makes more sense to have the winning goalie have a lower GAA if it went to a shootout. I mean unless the most ridiculous thing happened and team A’s goalie only had 32 mins TOI while team B’s goalie had 65 mins TOI. Then yeah making it 32:30 TOI with 1 GA vs 65:30 with 2GA, team B’s goalie would still have a lower GAA because he played a FUCK ton more time on the ice than team A’s goalie, but that would never happen. Unless there was an injury or something halfway through the game and the backup had to come in and he gave up the goal and only played 32 minutes and then got the win in the shootout. But then that makes more sense.
So I see why it could fuck with some stats if you counted it as a goal for GAA because of a goalie came in in relief of an injured goalie, then stopped everything for 32 minutes including OT then lost the shootout it’s kinda unfair to make his GAA go from what would be 0.00 to 1.85 just because he lost the shootout which isn’t regular hockey anyways. So i don’t know how they can do it. Maybe just something as simple as just not counting it as a shutout but keeping everything else the same so state don’t get messed with. Because saying a goalie had a shutout in a 1-0 loss doesn’t make any sense.

I was expecting from the thumbnail that the shutout was a loss was that they played the full 60 minutes and got a shutout but in the overtime got injured or something and couldn't finish the game but they still lost. Cuz technically wouldn't he have gotten the shutout

I have scored a goal on the bench:
I dumped the puck, and my teammate didn't get it, and the goalie missed when he tried to swipe it to the corner

I'm not sure why the heck it's even called the Gordie Howe hat trick if Mr. Howe himself only had two of them to begin with. Maybe it can be renamed the Mark Recchi or Brendan Shanahan hat trick now lol.

Who would you rather have at the line with the game on the line, me or Michael Jordan?

Here's one for ya. October 20, 2019, the Winnipeg Jets beat the Edmonton Oilers 1-0 in a shootout. Mike Smith (Oilers goalie) got credit for the shutout. The goalie got a shutout and lost.

@@JZJ7777 goals in shootouts don't count for the players scoring them, so they don't count against goalies either. If you win the shootout your team is just given a "goal" and the win.

He got longer looks in 08' 09'. Looks like 29 games, 9 points -1 over both call ups. The under lyings in the ahl look pretty shit in the following years as well. Just another guy who couldn't play in the big show, but at least he's got a claim to fame.
