      @dennishena1399 Před 6 měsíci +52

      That’s exactly what I just typed in my comment.
      What’s crazy is, the filmmakers of “The Killer” took the “Hitman” basis, changed the name of the character, film title, and look of the character, and KEPT everything else regarding story and charcater, and the film is awesome!
      However, the filmmakers of BOTH “Hitman” films took the “Hitman” basis, KEPT the name of the character, film title, and look of the character, and CHANGED EVERYTHING ELSE regarding story and character, and the film is GAH-BAGE!!!
      When will filmmakers learn that when is comes to adapting a video games character…STORY AND CHARACTER MATTERS!!!
      You can’t just leverage the name of the IP, butcher everything else about it, AND think fans will be satisfied and the film will do well. There’s a reason why the the IP is popular, keep that for the adaptation.

    To anyone interested in watching this movie, do it. I highly recommend it. With that being said, this trailer is a bit misleading. It's not an action movie. There's no gun fights or car chase sequence. There's like, ONE fight scene and that's it. The rest of the movie is very quiet and methodical. It shows a professional perfectly executing his craft. It's a Hitman movie through and through. Hell, it's more of a Hitman movie than the Hitman movies.

      Sounds similar to The American with George Clooney. It was a character study that was marketed as an action movie. Of course, I absolutely adore The American. Based on what you've said, the fact that this is directed by David Fincher and has Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton, I suspect I will love this. It's been in my list for a while. One of the best parts of the French comic this is based on is the sociopathic nature of the protagonist, he does not care, he is not moved by the act of killing people, it's just a job to him like if he were working at an office job but instead of pushing pencils he commits murders, there's a little more to him but largely the entertainment value is in seeing a man who is very good at one particular thing have to outwit and outmatch people who think severing ties with him is as simple as backstabbing him and leaving him for dead. This looks like it leans a little too much into the unnamed protagonist having redeemable qualities for my taste.

      I remember when the Hitman movie came out and it was just action & explosions. I bet they never actually played the game but just assumed that's what the game offers but it's actual value was precision, minute details, background music given by Jesper Kyd, forming up a strategy to be a silent assasin. This movie covered all of it and showed him like a human who makes mistakes and not as a superhuman. In Hitman games, you would walk into the crowd and hear all the white noise but you had to stay undetected and that makes the gamer empathize with the killer who is trying to hide his identity. I also liked the monologues in the movie. They were so powerful because they give you a peak into the mind of the Killer who is a loner, introvert and an antisocial guy (Mindhunter vibes). I don't agree that this is a revenge movie because he was a pragmatic person who wanted to finish the trail to ensure security. I really liked some minute details like The elevator scene when that woman giggles because she was deluded which is a typical style of Fincher (Fight Club vibes). This movie is a masterpiece but I do realize that many people are not going to like it or even understand it.

    Word on the street is that Andrew Kevin Walker's script is really an exploration of his impression of the millennial generation: from what the gig economy demands of us, to the seemingly meaningless duties of being a White House gofer, a chef, an Amazon delivery person, a copywriter at a high-powered marketing firm-- it's a film reflecting on what the current job market has done to warp the characters of young able-bodied people.

    Great slow burn and incredibly realistic-the plot itself is relatively uneventful and exactly like something you would expect in real life, but the intricacies in the story come from the way the protagonist conducts his actions.
