Was absolutely losing my mind trying to set this up, thanks to you I'm up and running and couldn't be happier! Brilliant guide. You've earned a sub today.
Thanks! Excited to try this as a pi project eventually
Thank you for the video. I don't think I have ever completed a Pi project without one of your videos. I set this up on a Pi 3B and it does work but there are some things to be aware of. The process is much slower to set up on the Pi 3B and you do not want anything else happening on the Pi which running it headless shouldn't be an issue. Even with that I was getting occasional pauses where I'm assuming the Pi was bottlenecked. I'm sure with a Pi 4 and above it is flawless.
Keep up the great work
Most Excellent!
as usual great stuff , geeky I love it , I was wondering if it was possible to have it installed on a Pi that already had retropi installed on it. I don't want to get a second one for no reason if I can.
Seems like a good option if you are already paying for Plex. Some immediate questions that come to mind are will it work on an older Pi (3B) and can the PlexAmp system, do multi-room synchronized playback? I've been experimenting with other small-board audio players that don't require a monthly fee, such as Volumio, Moode, Arylic, etc. Thank you for posting this video and making me aware of this product will definitely check it out!!
At the moment this looks like only a one-to-one solution so I don't think it'll do room synchronization unfortunately.
Thanks for the video lon, i usually use roon and ropieeee to stream from my roon server losslessly from tidal or my flac libraries. I pay 120 a year for roon as well. But i have a plex pass and plex already setup. So if i can get lossless audio from tidal to plex that i can control from my phone then it would save me 120 dollars a year. May setup a test endpoint on my spare pi and let yall know if it works.
I'm in the same boat with you. While I think nothing compares with Roon when it comes to metadata and a few other high end features, they are pricing themselves out of my comfort range. I already hold a lifetime Plex Pass, so this would make a lot of sense. I'll be paying close attention to the development of this project, for sure!! ~Frank
Sounds like Ropieee also added support for plexamp (in beta) too. I haven't tried it yet but will add it to my weekend todo list.
It's out of beta now just did a fresh install looks to work great
It works amazing I am debating replacing my roon setup as this is free as I have lifetime plex where roon is 120 a year
@@TazTheTech nice! I set it up last night but didn't have much time to play with it. I hope plex continues to improve and expand it. Roon has more features but is expensive and probably overkill for most tbh.
@lonSeidman Where is the plex forum link in the description ???
Does this work over the LAN network?
Installed this a while ago, and need to update the application. How do you update to the latest release?
Finally, geek stuff. More RaspberryPi projects please.
Where did you get the pi😊
Does this support HiRes audio?
i'm having a hardtime getting node js16 to work. it loads version 18, and plexamp errors when installing. should version 18 work? thanks
I have a hdhomerun 4k dvr and plex pass. What can I record with the plex pass DVR besides OTA channels? I would like to record the streaming plex channels and other streaming shows from peacock, tubi, netflix, amazon prime, etc. How is that possible? Thank You!
How do you turn the raberry pi off when finished listening?
I use Volumio on a RPI. It's much simpler to setup.
Lon you are the Plex expert, i have an issue. New TCL Google TV, Plex will only play Live Channel content. It can see my server, it can load up the files to play but it won't play anything, doesn't even Play Plex Free Movies and TV, all i get is spinning cursor thing. I have uninstalled the app and Factory reset twice and same issue just won't play anything but Live Channels. Any idea's what could be wrong? Plex works fine on my Roku, Fire Stick and even my Chromecast with Google TV. I don't want to factory reset again!
none of my chromecast devices are showing up yet I can cast from the plexamp app on my phone to the chromecast. hmmm..
Can you make a video on how to create a home "Apple" server if I dont wanna pay 10 dollars for 2TB of iCloud? The more tutorials online, the better
I would take a look at my Synology series - upfront hardware cost but when paired with Tailscale works great anywhere: lon.tv/synology
Having problems with the node js/index.js maybe this video is outdated now.
Same
Didn't work. Loaded js node 18.
A missed opportunity to name the Pi server Lon ”Pi”dman.
Too bad some Raspberry Pi models are still not that easy to find. All of ones I have right now are already being used for other projects.
Jellyfin does it better
So jellyfin can losslessly stream audio from tidal from a phone app to a pi. If so I would be willing to try it out
I'll be honest. That's quite sh*tty experience for install for essentially subscription service. I'll stick with Jellyfin, don't see any value in this.
