Flysky GT3C vs GT5 - Battle Of The Budget Transmitters

  • A little head to head comparison of two Flysky transmitters/receivers. I clearly favor the GT5 over the GT3C and highly recommend paying the extra money to get it. It may be possible that I did get a defective unit with the GT3C but the range at which it would start cutting out was unacceptable and I wouldn’t recommend the transmitter to anyone unless you knew you were only going to crawl with it. The GT5 on the other hand preformed remarkably and I’d highly recommend it to anyone. Absolutely great transmitter/receiver combo for the price. Also there are multiple compatible receivers for the GT-5 and you can find the list of those receivers on the GT-5 downloadable manual that you can find on the FlySky website and you can find the list in section 4.2 on page 7 under Binding(compatible receivers). The best budget option in my opinion is the FS-A3 with 3 channels and no gyro for $8 but the best all around option is the FS-BS4 which will run you around $12 with functional gyro, 4 functional channels(so you lose function of 5 and 6) but it also has 3 extra slots other than the functioning channels that can be used to power lights/fans etc. I will also link the manual below.

    Nice video bud I did the same thing with upgrading the transmitter from the stock Arrma transmitter I went with the fly sky GT3B initially and was OK with it at first but not real happy with the range and it seems to be getting intermittent with steering especially. Was debating on doing the GT five and I think your video sold me on it. I do really heavy bashing in my stuff also and the extra range would definitely be nice.

      Bars&tone RC - Yea I’m not sure how the GT3C had good reviews with how bad the range was on mine. The GT5 is just other world when it comes to range/quality/everything really. Not a huge price bump but the quality upgrade is just major. Oh and read the video description for receiver info I added. There are cheaper options to the original FS-BS6 if you need to buy future receivers for future vehicles and don’t need all the channels or GYRO.

      gary murphy - The GT3C comes with the GR3E receiver and sorry to say it is not compatible with the GT5 transmitter. If you read the video description there is more detail on what receivers are compatible and a link to the users manual for the GT5 where there is a list of compatible receivers. I have not personally tried to see if the GR3E will bind to the GT5 but it is not on that list of compatible receivers.

    Having my eye on a gt5 or the noble but friends who race say that the fly sky radios response is slow and they who tested it on the track was actually between half a second to a second and a half slower on their lap times compared to the futaba and Sanwa radios.. In your experience are they telling the truth?

    • @AszBall
      @AszBall  Před 4 lety

      Rhinus Breedt - Do they have the GT5? The GT5 vs the cheaper GT3 series is a whole different ballpark, can’t speak for the GT3 series but I love the response on my GT5 I notice zero lag but I also just bash and stunt I do not track so the track guys should have better feel for response I’d assume. I mean if you’re getting into track stuff where a half second of lap time matters maybe just pony up for the high end gear? Like I said I don’t track so I couldn’t weigh in on your situation, all I know is it’s gonna be great for bashing and has great response for stunting. Wish I could help more...

    Design and ergos of the gt5 are not as good as the gt3c. Flysky really got close to perfecrt with the gt3c. They should have just upgraded it with all the features of the gt5 + a better more detailed screen. Even the battery and bay were better. I have 2 hacked ones and I'm never buying anything else.

    Hi I have the GT3 and have the GT5 arriving in a few days.
    Was wondering if I can
    Change out chargeable gt3 battery , and refit it into GT5 which boots up on both small lipo or 4 dry cells ???? . Otherwise my GT3 will sit there with a perfect lipo battery in it doing nothing

    • @AszBall
      @AszBall  Před 4 lety

      The GT3C battery? I doubt you can make that work in the GT5 plus it’s a one cell 3.7 volt battery in the GT3C and the GT5 takes 4 AAs which would be closer to 6V and low voltage would be around 5V so if you had a 3.7V battery that probably wouldn’t even run the transmitter right and even if it did it may have a low voltage cutoff that wouldn’t allow it to work, and even if it didn’t have a low voltage cutoff at the very least there is a low voltage warning that would be going off constantly. That all being said the GT5 will accept a two cell LiPo and that will plug right in to the GT5 but you would need an appropriate charger for that LiPo with the JST red 2 prong connector. Here is a link to an example of a LiPo that will fit the GT5 - www.amazon.com/dp/B07X8MXTZX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_8t2-EbJWAFEFX

      Cancerous Potatoes - That is what I did, returned the GT3C after making this video and was much happier with the GT5. Up to you I mean if you got it on amazon you have 30 days to see if it works for you or not before your return window closes but if the range on your GT3C is as bad as mine was, I’d say it’s not worth keeping. Personally think the GT5 is 100% worth the extra money. And yea the GT3C seemed glitchy to me, when I was changing the settings on one model it was changing it for all models. I only had it connected to one vehicle but if I was running it for multiple cars that would have been a big issue.

    • @AszBall
      @AszBall  Před 3 lety

      I go over the range issues in the video I mean the gt3c was so bad I suspect I had a faulty unit otherwise i don’t see how anyone could use that transmitter, especially with bashers. Gt5 on the other hand has more range than pretty much anyone would ever need. I tested the range on both with a optical range finder and forget the results but it was a staggering difference and I couldn’t test the full range of the GT5 because it was getting too far for me to see the car so like I said more range than you could need. I’d recommend Gt5 all day long.

    Can you mix channels with the GT5?

    • @AszBall
      @AszBall  Před 4 lety +1

      FPV Jos - I’m not sure I really only use steering and throttle and use the other slots just to power fans and lights. Haven’t got into crawlers YET so don’t have much use for all the channels for now. I know there is a crawl mode so you can control rear and front steer at the same time but don’t think you can mix the channels like swap channel 3 and 4 so the channel 3 button runs on the 4th channel on the receiver and vice versa. If you want channel mixing check out the RadioLink 6 channel transmitter (RC6GS). Pretty sure it’s the better option for crawling and mixing channels and stuff like that and think it’s in a similar price range. I just picked the FlySky because I didn’t need all that for the bashing I do and the GT5 looked better aesthetically speaking. The radiolink im pretty sure is more advanced in general but it’s just a lil big bulky and ugly for my taste and at the time I had little interest in crawlers. If I were to go back in time I woulda done more research on the RadioLink and possibly leaned in the direction of getting it if I had known then that I would be considering getting into crawlers now.

    • @Randy1124pr
      @Randy1124pr Před 4 lety

      You can’t, you basically have 4ch extra not counting the Th and St channels. You have a push switch, a 3 position switch and two knobs, depending on what accessories you want to use you have to pick the channel that will work the best. For example my light kit is connected in ch 3 which is the push switch and that turn my lights on and off, as for my winch i have it on ch4 and i use the 3 position switch for it.

    • @AszBall
      @AszBall  Před 3 lety

      Read the video description, I’ve listed a few receivers that work that go as low as $8 but that would be without a gyro and that receiver works despite whatever model you have chosen on your GT5 so it’s kinda cheap and lacking, but if you got some cars that just need a cheap receiver it’ll get the job done. So you can use the cheap FS-A3 for cars you don’t need a nice receiver for, and probably get the FS-BS4 for your good bathers you want a gyro for and get the full on FS-BS6 for anything you need more channels for like crawlers.
