  • In this episode of 10th Scale Garage, we take a look a which budget-spec RC transmitter is the best. The Radiolink RC6GS Transmitter goes up against the Flysky FS-G7P and Flysky GT3C. All of these surface transmitters have the ability to store multiple models, multiple channels and are a huge upgrade over most stock RTR transmitters. We bind them up and test them out to see which is best.

I had taken a 2000mah 2S WPL battery and took out the double a battery tray, it has the wires you need connected to the tray, so you snip them and attach to a 2S, now you have the jst plug you need to plug it in. I even put my usb charger in the battery tray as i still have the room, charge in the car once in a blue moon, Lose maybe .2 volts every like 4 hours. Stupid good for its price, have gotten a handful of friends to convert to it from the flysky gt3..
Edit; i forgot to add as well how awesome it is having the ability to throw a camera mount onto the radio. Has made life easy when it comes to recording

RadioLink hands down when it comes to affordability, range, features and the price on receivers can’t compare. Speed runs, Drag Racing, Bashing it’s just better in my opinion of those on the table 🤷🏾‍♂️

I can vouch for that on the Radiolink, I have never used Flysky so I don't know how they perform for speedruns. I have done speedruns up to 2300ft (me at midpoint) with the RC4GS. I'm now considering getting the new RC6GS for the extra range. That or install a range booster.

Radiolink is awesome for fpv cars, its range with the 7 channel receiver is crazy far. Also it has a head tracker port and i think its the only pistol type radio that supports that feature. Love the functions on the flysky though! Brake force and expo on the knobs would be things I'd use for sure, and the sensor's sound cool.

Everytime I look for a different transmitter I come back to the FlySky GT3C. Very easy to turn into a 8-channel. Receivers are very cheap and with the 8-channel hack you can use 3, 6 and 8 channel receivers. It is very light. 800MAh Lipo is standard and you can get a 1700MAh Lipo that lasts forever. Range is very good, over 300 meter. You can connect 62 RCs with the 8ch hack, not much radios that can do that. Loads of 3D print stuff available for this transmitter. I have several for them, been using them for over 9 years now. Programming takes a bit more time, but there are good videos on that. And once you programmed it you are set.

Exponent thats fully tunable on points or a curve including braking . Fpv capture compatible . Multi servo mixing like operating a tank or monster truck with 4ws . And if you want to see where your knob is just hit exit from the main display screen and it shows the position of all the channels (which can ALL be reversed! ) and you forgot the dumbo (only for cheap reasons tho i know its not multi model compatible . Radiolink can run 2s lipos and the controls once you get use to them are pretty intuitive. It's just that you can't change settings as fast. If you wanted let's say adjust steering epa from 100 percent to 40 you gotta wait for the dang thing to hit every number in-between which can get pretty tedious.

Friends and I had GT3, ALL had very short range. Have a G7p, hate it. Thought I would eventually learn how to navigate with that 1 stupid button- nope. Most aggravating radio Iv'e ever used, the GT3 was MUCH better in that respect. So I ordered the Radiolink, I know it has excellent range and 4 individual buttons for much better navigation. Hoping 3rd time is a charm. Shame the 3GT has lousy range, it was not hard to learn, but 8 AA batteries?! If it could be lipo'd and had range I would have been thrilled with it. I like spektrum interface over the higher end fkysky radio cuse you can put dual rates for throttle for break out racing 140percent and 65 percent is what I run in my legends car and same principle with my other RJ speed break out cars. I use 140 percent on all my other non tenth scale break out classes like on oval the 21.5 pan car or rubber toie truck and the touring open wheel modifieds look like nascar wheelin modified class. I also run vta pro mod 17.5 pro touring and pro touring, F1 cars, is my on road cars so 20 models is all I need for what I do and love my spektrum you can set all kinds of buttons and knobs to adjust stuff on the fly. Best part is our track is the carpet from the 2019 snowbirds same track and all we bought the whole snowbirds setup after the 2019 snowbirds we left with everything they had for the track plus timing system and the hand out transponders for new ppl who don't have their own the bulky clip on red ones you gotta drill a huge hole in your body for them to put a body pin through to hold on with the charging board for it and we get 100 plus cars in total every weekend for both oval and on road and every Thursday is rj speed night legends spec 10 and RJ speed open class non break out run any RJ speed car and body just no open wheel like the sprint car and modified ones

Way to short reach on it. And if you trim end point with it it will take away as much power from that channel leaving it weak instead.

I own a mess of flysky radios including gt3b (mods to the moon), gt3c, and the noble nb4 with a bunch of the stock radios from redcat. The only thing that has ever broke on any of them was the power button wires on the gt3c. I just put a power switch on the front of the radio, easy fix. I do how ever have a broken Kyosho kt 432pt that is made by flysky that I can’t get fixed (electrical issue).

      This...
It's sadly the only one they didn't get lol. GT5 > All other flyskys for sure. Easiest menu navigation, even easier buttons, extremely smooth trigger and steering... And dat range... I also like how minimalist it is. All of those, including the G7 are just overly bulky, whereas the GT5 is comfy, light etc
That's my opinion of course, but in my experience so far, GT5 is my best budget radio.
I do love Dumbos, but we have those for our B list cars and ONLY because features for price+receivers are CHEAP. Our 1/5 - 1/8 scales get the GT5 ;)

I had the GT5. I wasn’t a fan. The screen was unusable in sunlight, the stylus was crappy, the buttons felt cheap and it broke within 9 months. Kyosho makes the same transmitter with a better design, but that version is too expensive for me to consider it “budget spec.”
I know there’s a ton of people that love it, but my experience was bad. Rather than buy another one and complain about the bad experience I had with it, I just chose not to include it.

@@10thScaleGarage No worries, i absolutely agree. Having a bad experience is what shapes our opinions! Like... I love Dodge because experiences, but hate mustangs because experiences....
Not going to complain if you had a bad one :P but i do love the menu layout and the design the most. It's comfy, the holes help prevent sweat, and dat trigger pull and wheel are so smooth it may as well be Snoop Jr!

The interface on the GT3C is just awful, not helped by the crappy scroll wheel clicky button. Setup is terrible. But it's still got tons of options and once it's done, it's easy to live with so that's dealable with.

Then Anheuser Bush has your back. Welcome to Bush light lime with both horrible tasting light beer and lime pledge spray it sounds like you shouldn't get scurvy if you drink it so it's like the medicine of beer.

G7P is awful had it less than a week and it went full factory reset on me twice! Erased everything i programmed and repgrogrammed. Also was awful to offer a 4 wheel steering option and not map servo speed over to the 2nd steering servo. Also when mixing Throttle to a 2nd channel for something like dual motors, it does not pick up Idle Up or Engine Cut settings into the mixed channel. Bush league stuff right there. They can't even fix it with firmware updates, they just deleted the functionality and took it away altogether. Wild stupid stuff for a $75 transmitter. Flysky is trash. Sorry. Gonna try the RadioLink but from your vid doesn't seem like its alot better. Maybe the Dumbo 350 12channel will be good.

havent watched vid yet and tbo the radiolink kills the flysky own both just in range alone radionlink smashes and kills flysky let alone many other features , no spectrum no futaba radiolink and that is from many radios price , features etc. its not even worth comparing . but ill watch now lol. not to mention the ability to run crossfire or even fpv with head tracking the list is huge . and fkn cheap oh and forgot the 8 ch rx has even more range . for the price of rx do the math . tanks, boats , excavtors etc it will do it , but i will say mixing is a challenge but once you figure it out nuts. for the price. oh did i mention crossfire""""""""""""""""""" how many surface guys are running that??? crickets::::::: but what do i know just a old rc dude that has paid ota for bs like spectrum . beer assistant
