Really nice review. I got my FS GT5 a couple of weeks ago and I cannot be happier about it. I'm used to the TRX4 TQi and the FlySky is so much easy to configure... Really worth the price. Thanks for the review Francis and team, excellent work
I'm addicted to your channel, subscribed, you just have great content that is very helpful.
Thanks to rc review for telling me about this radios. I own both of them and love them.
Yes, we need to save the world from the RTR placeholder radios!!!
@@RCReviewChannel yea I use the radiolink for my 8x8 crawler and my redcat shredder. I use the flysky for my 1/10 slash and 1/16 slash.
Thank you for reviewing these radios. I'm upgrading radios currently for 2 vehicles, and these 2, the FS gt5 and Radio Link were my picks as well. After seeing this review, I'm going with both. The RL for a brushless rustler, FS gt5 for a crawler. Thank you for making my decision much easier. 👊🍻
Wow, so good to know. I'm just re-entering the hobby after 20+ year hiatus and didn't even consider a new radio due to remembering how expensive they were. I'm not yet at the point where the extras are needed, but I got a quick reminder of how addictive this is and that I'l want more soon. I love your explanations and reviews!
Excellent information as usual for your channel. Thank you.
Tqi with Bluetooth modual does everything, and even shows your models pitch and roll, stability control. It does exponential, esc voltage esc temp. Motor temp esc current, speed and rpm and also controls your lights on your Rc. Win win for me. I parked my dx4r in favour of the tqi with my phone for my xmaxx and trx4
I'm totally new to Traxxas. Got my Summit 1:10 this year. First thing I ended up doing is going through the manual to figure out how to reverse the gear position switch. I tend to drive in 1st gear so having the switch in the up position always felt like the bottom of the switch was getting in my way, so I ended up reversing it so up is second, down is first. Makes more sense. Glad I'm not the only one!
I really needed this vid ty so much!
you could try their 6CH radio RC6GS

I’m on FlySky for slow RCs and RadioLink for racing RCs. So I kind of agree for your review 👍
I love Radiolink ransmitter I have been using it for a few months paired to 4 of my road cars DBXLE, XMAXX, INFRACTION & NOTORIOUS the thing I love the most is the range it goes way too far I have never actually tasted the distance because never felt the need too. All my cars Spektrum transmitter didn't go that far as this does. Plus the responsiveness of this thing is totally unbelievable.
So good to hear. Fast cars is where this radio shines.
Great info i just ordered this for my new limitless! Subbed!
Nice video, very informative. Just subbed. Thanks
I had the Radiolink RC4G a few years back. It was a great radio but the screen died after a few months of owning it. I switched to a Flysky GT3C which has been fairly reliable until now, but it's getting a bit old and tired. I've just ordered the Flysky GT5, can't wait to give it a go!
Great video. Very informative.
Great video. I just got the gt5, it is disappointing, I bought both the Radiolink and the Flysky with my own money and only good thing about the Gt5 is looks and ergonomics, for everything else: radiolink; better usability and navigation through the system, more intuitive, wide range of compatible lipos, far more functions IF you need them, they dont get in the way, insane range, customizable buttons, trigger tension adjustments, all their receivers are rated for up to 10V and send telemetry back to the radio (lipo voltage, rx voltage and rssi signal strength) without any hassle for the user…
To put it simply (and Im a HUGE fan of flysky and own 4 of their radios) the Gt5 feels like it is from the 20th century compared to the Rc6gs v2…
Like the screen and user interface on the Radiolink better than the Flysky.
Have the Radiolink myself, love it. Massive upgrade over the Spektrum RTR radio.
Many thanks for the video, I know what to order now!
Thank you! Picking up a GT5! much
Honestly I just like the look on your face when you describe traxxas electronics. It’s like a funny glossing over which I think is very appropriate lol
I just thought he was tired.
I recently bought the Flysky GT5. I love it so far. Much smoother and more controllable than my stock Traxxas, Axial or Redcat controllers. I am in the process of getting more receivers so I can change out some of my stock radios. Great Review Francis!
Right? We don't know what we're missing until we find products that are modern and designed with the crawling purpose in mind.
RC Review Definitely!
I waited weeks for this review. Already bought the fs gt5 because it seemed to be much easier to one hand, looked way nicer, I have no need for channel mixing or the extra range, it’s not nearly as bulky, and most importantly all the head to head reviews I saw said it’s throttle had a higher quality sensor.
If only I would have waited a day or found this video sooner! Lol I just spent $40 yesterday on the bluetooth module for the TQi.
I did that a year ago.
Thank for you explanation about transmiter
Nice review....but I still love my Radiolink RC6GS. 😁👍🏼
flysky gt5 is my favorite - got it with the traction hobby founder ii
amazing over all
I use the Radiolink 6 channel V2 for my large scale gas boats. I started out with an expensive Spektrum set up and ended up disappointed with it's performance. The range and solid signal of the Radiolink sold me for sure. At a fraction of the cost.
I agree! I'm progressively changing all of my RC's (2wd ST & SCT, Outcast, 4ws Crawler, Trx-4, 6x6) to the GT5 as it offers all the features I like!
do you have any manual how to program microservos for that?
@@eM4rio not yet no, when I get access to a receiver for my GT5, I'll try and make a video on how to do it!
Radiolink V2 for Cen Reeper ( Gyro) for my Xmaxx & Reeper. A Little more manageable on 6s & 8s power 🔋ABS braking 👍is awesome with the V2 Wasn't to Thrilled with my Xmaxx controller ! for a truck that cost me 1.k $$$$ Traxxas didn't give me much of a controller , but on the bright side at least they included Gyro with the Xmaxx. Does the job. Appreciate the comparison 👌 nice collection you have , just bought my first Axial jeep & just got into the crawling game 😀👍always been into the basher's. Guess I'm growing older & starting to change things up a little lol .Thanks for your detailed review & thoughts my friend 💯👍
Great review! The only negative is when you were describing the location & function of the Aux switches @ 5:01, the camera stayed focused on a top view of the controller rather than showing what you were explaining
Was thinking similar. I'd like to get an idea where all these switches/controls are
Same here.
I do love my flysky, I'm currently switching all my rcs to this radio but the wheel foam is crap it came loose in first run but a little servo tape fixed it up. For the price (even cheaper than when this video was made) it's an excellent radio.
Thanks for sharing
i think a drop test would be in order. when out crawling, the operator can be on terrain that is as rough as what the vehicle is traversing - making it difficult to stay on one's feet. how well do these survive a fall from say a meter up onto rocks?
I just bought the GT5 . 👍👍👍
Fantastic vid as usual! Have you done a programming video on the Radiolink? Would love to see how to and where your choices would be.
thanks for this. made my decision. ill be getting that Flysky GT5. :)
You can't go wrong with this. Rugged too.
@@RCReviewChannel nicee .thanks much sir.
Just to be clear the flysky gt5 does have a voltage cutoff for lipos. It just beeps and vibrates letting you know to charge the battery or replace it with a new one. The actual manual for the gt5 is on FLYSKY's website where its like 100 times clearer and explains a lot of "hidden" features
had the gt5 for a year sold it to get the Radiolink so much more you can do
With channel mixing, could you progressively slow the steering as the throttle increases?
Another great review ! going with the Flysky i think. What is your MTB channel?
Hey mate how did you go with the info on the controller and the adjustable wheel for rear steer
Can any of these radio's have a 3-position momentary switch in
Thanks for the Video and Data. But mixing is a must so my mind is heading at Radiolink money isn't the thing just liked the ease of the flysky and the jogwheel
I have the radiolink. i use it on my TRX-6. Being able to mix channels is a great feature, and very easy to use and understand. There are two 3 position switches on top of the radio that are very easy to reach, then a dial and a button .
The dial is proportional and the button is basicly like an on off. On my 6x6 I have the 2 speed transmission on the button.
The steering wheel position sucks for one handed use. It sticks out way to far and even with a steering wheel extension it still sticks out to far to use.
The throttle is set too far forward. It's not horrible but if your going to let kids drive, they will he unable to use reverse. Their little fingers just cant push the trigger that far forward.
I dont know how the other radiolink radios are, but on mine the on/off switch turns on very easily and will turn its self on inside my radio case. So after I'm done driving my 6x6 I have to unplug the battery.
I drive crawlers, so for me the GT5 absolutely takes the cake because it lets you access 4-wheel steering modes right from the main menu. And 4-WS is dead easy to set up.
Awesome videos
I just want to be able to change the led colours so the gt5 wins :P. Hold back button and rotate menu wheel ( hope that helps some new viewers)
I think I will go with the GT5 but I am wondering what are some good small receivers for micro crawlers? Scx24 etc..
hello, love the channel ! thanks to you I bought trx4 sport, flysky gt5, hh crawlmaster pro plus the red traxxas servo. my question~how do I switch my lights, after a little research. I'm seeing that the lights run on 3v, truck runs on 6v ? do I need some kind of controller ? switch ?
Radiolink on duty since its releaze, awsome remote for the price 6ch with programable buttons when it gonna break im gonna order another one!
the gt5 is awesome because of the 4ws. but the best use of gt5 is the servo knobs. so you can independently steer the rear while steering the front at the same time. not a lot of transmitters have knobs so easily accessible
I dont have experience with the flysky but i have the radiolink and it works awesome.
Hi, can you tell me which battery pack you use in your GT5 transmitter? How many volts, amps, etc. Or maybe if you have a link to one.
Thanks.
People forget or dont know about the settings in the flysky gt5 or the new g7p . I havent used too many transmitters with the type if adjustments unless it was a sanwa or fatuba. The flysky g7p with the idst esc in any crawler even the wpl c24 stock will transform it in precision control for 100 bucks. Honestly cant beat that combo.
Have the flysky GT5... It has the 4 wheel steering in its setup..
And has a jst plug to run it on lipo..
I did spot the other one radiolink it was a brand unkmown versus flysky..
EVERYTHING about the Radiolink is better. I don't buy a radio based on what it looks like, it buy it based on how it works. The Radiolinks have fully customizable throttle and steering expos, and you can get a range of receivers-- the R7FG with gyro and telemetry, the R6FG without telemetry (so just one antenna,) the or the R6F with no gyro. The most expensive one is twenty bucks, and the form factor is quite a bit smaller than the FlySky receivers. Also, if you don't need 6 channels (plenty of rigs out there that can get away with 2 or 3 channels) theres the RC4GS, which is a 4-channel version and costs 60 bucks. The GT5 at 80 bucks is criminal.
The Flysky's inability to assign buttons, or even adjust the functionality of the button (like making CH3 intermittent) are getting to be dealbreakers for me. Don't get me wrong, I think I own 8 GT5s... but I've absolutely bought my last one. It's Radiolinks from here on out. Unless I hit the lottery or something, and can throw around that Futaba money. 🤣
I'd really like to get the FMS SCX10 transmitter for my TRX-4 Defender - would this be possible? It's either that or the RC6GS for the independent diff lock channels
For me, my choice is the Radiolink. My fleet of cars is all Arrma. I have a very fast car, that travels over 127/130 MPH. So I depend on a very stable signal, with tones of range, too be able to even contemplate, sending my car that fast. For those of you that do not know how fast is 130 MPH, it is the equivalent of 190.66 feet per second. It is not merely for the range, but to be able to control my car even when 300/400 meters away from me. The last thing you want, is a car doing 130 MPH and out of control. Crawlers, are not really my thing. But if it was, I might go with the Fly sky model.
I have a flysky gt3c. does the gt5 have more resolution? i like the gt3c BUT always thought the resolution was not great. just wondering if moving to the gt5 and new receivers is worth it?
would u guys recommend spektrum rugged or flysky noble?
Yes it is extremely hard to get used to please explain to me how I can shut off RSSI ??? It keeps beeping.I’m sure I hit something wrong
I have both the flysky and radio link 👍
I had both of them and I have to say the feel of the Flysky FS GT5 is so premium that on construction I would say it beats all other radios I've had including my Futaba 4PV. It is also great functionality for it's price. I would give the best though to the Radiolink RC6GS for two main things- it's insane range and it's gyro is simply insane to. I'm talking about the V2 version because I've heard many people say that the gyro on first version was too weak but the V2 is insanely strong. Also it has more functionality than any other radio at this price range. The only problem is that there is a little defect with my own where at times on reverse once initiated sometimes it just keeps on reversing even if you aren't currently putting it on reverse, just pulling the trigger on forward takes it off this mode.
The gt5 is disappointing, only good thing about it is looks and ergonomics, everything else: radiolink; better usability and navigation through the system, more intuitive, wide range of compatible lipos, far more functions IF you need them, they dont get in the way, insane range, customizable buttons, trigger tension adjustments, all their receivers are rated for up to 10V and send telemetry back to the radio (lipo voltage, rx voltage and rssi signal strength) without any hassle for the user…
To put it simply (and Im a HUGE fan of flysky and own 4 of their radios) the Gt5 feels like it is from the 20th century compared to the Rc6gs v2…
@@DashzRight I like both. I would say however I personally prefer the Radiolink because it's better for speed runs which I like to do. The range and the gyro are big pluses.
VERY NICE VIDEO
Sir i lose my remote 2.4ghz of crawler d6 n g m now i try others remote but not work please tell what i can do work my crawler keep
As per usual, well done on the production of the video. 😁 what are your thought on the $30-$40 dumbo rc 6ch? I recently picked one up to try on the gen8. Have a great day bud.
i heard they are great... you just need to change all the settings each time if you have more than 1 model you run
In one of your videos you said that you sell some of your rc builds. How do we get ahold of you?
For bashing radio link with r7 receiver is a beast crazy rang ...
What is the R7 Receiver? i am trying to find other brand receivers that will work with my RC6GS. Thanks in advance
@@AUBREYTHOMAS1979 www.amazon.com/Radiolink-Receiver-Two-Way-Transmission-Real-time/dp/B07RWC9GXT
The Radiolink has a lipo warning, but no cutoff. I have accidentally destroyed a battery in this radio by leaving it on. I got it to take a charge but it was really puffy so it had to go.
Thanks
❤thank you
is it ok to use fs gt5 for crawler rc with brushed esc&motor?
For 1/8 TT buggys wich do you recommend?
Hello I just purched this remote because of your videos but now I can not figure how to use my dynamite kill switch could you please help me
Even the tqi has more resolution than my high end castle esc’s. I can turn on cruise control and spin the multi function knob and see, on my multimeter, every step increase in voltage. If only the throttle was smooth, that’s my only gripe with the radio. Yeah it was hard to learn, but once learned it’s easy.
The only thing that disappointed me about the tqi radio was the lack of durability. (Have had 7, 4 from brand new) I have had more of the Traxxas transmitters and receivers quit than any other brand. I wish I would have saved the money from buying the Bluetooth module, and just bought a better, more funtional, easier to program radio.
Ok, I've ordered a RadioLink RC6GS V2, now how do I rain proof/water proof this? Thanks.
What transmitter can I use for rgt adventurer?
nice info, and Radiolink have new R7FG receiver is more amazing, which support car voltage and RSSI telemetry, that's awesome function !!!1
600 meters=2.5 football fields. I can’t see that far.Lol.Love my new RadioLink .
can you use flysky gt3b recievers with the new flyskyGT5??? thanks i ask because i have 10 recievers already
Thanks for the great review!
Have you tried binding other brand receivers to these radios? I want to know what receivers are compatible to my RC6GS? It can be difficult to get Radiolink Rx in South Africa so i want to know if a Flysky Rx will bind to a RC6GS?
It won't
The GT5 does have a low battery warning. It tripped me out the first time because it both beeps and vibrates.
in terms of reliability and long lasting, glitches and gyro would it be the gt5 or the radiolink?
My gt5 works really well. I have it on my custom 1/27 drift car, it feels really nice and the features are really easy to get to. Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Futaba and Sanwa from Japan?
Just got a flysky GT5. My only problem is the receivers are hard to get hold of but at least they are cheap.
how is the range on the gt5? The reason I bought a second TX/RX out of necessity was that I didnt get good range on my Flysky gt3b (not at gt5) for a budget radio. I saw reviews and bought 2 dumborc and range is very good and feel of controller is surprisingly good too. It doesnt have model memory and lcd screen on the DumboRC like the RCGS. I wish I saw this video on the Radiolink RC6S because of being able to link to multiple vehicles (DumboRC cannot), very good range (better than the Flysky IMO), and because Im using it for my Arrmas which need the extended range due to their size and distance they can travel.
Actually the TQi has 30 model memory. You can bind it with any Traxxas car, and it will recognize the model each time its turned on. If you purchase the bluetooth module ($35) and you link it to your phone, you will then have a screen just like a display on those other radio's. You actually need the module if you ever want to update the firmware of your ESC. I have updated my Xmaxx, and Traxxas Maxx a few times already. from my understanding Traxxas moved to the bluetooth module for us android users. Its not all that bad really once you dive into how to program it.
Good point. Very tedious to use though since there's no screen, so you don't know what model/vehicle you're on. And the steering trim is a knob so it has to be readjusted for each model. And finally with no easy programming of all settings, it's a bear to set up for each vehicle.
We put two on it once and gave up. It's just hard to use that way.
Be good if RC REVIEW did a review with all the tq has to offer, added phone holder with all you info and settings in front of you, can also use it to film crawling videos. And the dash layouts with all the telemetry options are impressive.
Need to compare it to futaba. Adjustable trigger and great response times but expensive
Thinking about getting a A bully 2 from RC4WD. I’m thinking having channel mixing we puked be good for a crawler running 2 ESC’s? I don’t know. I can’t find info on hoe the MOA crawlers are set up. Doesn’t look like your into the MOA crawlers? Don’t see any in your videos. Thanks
Hey, what do you think about latency and accuracy of the flysky gt5 vs radiolink RC6GS?
He has reviews on each
still hard to choose, but thanks again
Hey boss can you please help me I'm trying to figure out why am I losing the signal really early it doesn't go really that far and then the signal drops and I don't have a runaway until about 100 ft later
Does the flysky have channel mix?
Currently Looking at the FlySky take me to school please👍
I went for the Radiolink cause of the quick delivery on Amazon. I didnt have the patience to wait 30days for the Flysky. Lol
I've had mine for about a year and a half. No problems. This guy seems very biased. He completely ignored the other flysky...lol???
I almost bought the NB4... just didn’t have a 5channel single receiver that would fit in my rx box.
Gonna get the Flysky. I feel that I have no use for all the extra features the Radiolink has. Im going for the ergonomics and that the Flysky has a dial knob for 2 of the extra channels.
the traxxas is not too terrible for a ready to run I actually like the high low selector its convenient to use with my trx6 on trails
What do you think about spektrum dx5c
I like my dumbo rc it is six channel you can drive it one handed it’s between $20 an $30 dollars it’s not real fancy but works good it has around 500 to 600 range on it it also has I forget what it’s called but if you get off it help the steering win you pick it up and turn your car the wheels will stay strait!
Need reviews of range tests with these cheap transmitter vs stock
