Wouldn't you argue that there are already 2 other apex predators in the league. Chelsea and Manchester United. However, people complain that City have done it right, regarding recruitment and management, but no one seems to be annoyed that Chelsea and United who both have probably equal income to City and spending power, aren't getting right and therefore are allowing for City to "run away with it".
Also, people seem to make the comments that it is becoming a farmers league, but I feel this is ignorance from people who only view the final result. If you look at it in black and white, then yeah City have won 5 of the last 6 and could win 4 in a row etc... But this isn't the full story. The times that City have won have always been competitive, wehther this be Liverpool taking them to the last day of the season 2 times in a row, or Arsenal having a 8 point lead and City overcoming this. I feel City is discredited for winning all the time and it isn't acknowleged that, okay yes they have more money and spending power, but have still had to in moments come from behind or go and win 15 games in a row and prove why they are the best.
I understand the City hate because of the 115 allegations, but again this hasn't been confirmed as guilty and at this point, I feel if City were found innocent of these allegations, people wouldn't be satisfied as they already view them as guilty in their head.

    • @josephkerrigan733

I agree, I felt this way about Chelsea when they were battling man united people don’t often give credit to them clubs because of getting brought and the money that came with it. But they put on a hell of a performance season after season and played great football (I know some people don’t like Chelsea way of football but they would still win games like 4-0 and it they’ll be some of the best goals you have ever seen)
My point is I agree and we have to take into account these players have still played there ass off and made seasons or matches that will be remembered for a long time. you gotta respect them type of clubs like city chelsea in a way because of how good they are and the memories they created

    • @danielmarsh1376
      @danielmarsh1376 Před měsícem

completely agree. Everton have spent to the point of FFP points deductions, even accounting for covid and women's team expenditure, United have spent over 2 billion pounds (the most of any prem team ever), Chelsea have spent the most in any singular transfer window, twice, and Arsenal have outspent Manchester City for the last 3 seasons.
This notion that Man city are uncatchable when it's seemingly all down to awful transfers, sackings of managers, poor facilities and infrastructure as well as back room staff, purely points to incompetency. Everyone is happy to laugh at Manchester United and Chelsea for doing so poorly, yet if they were doing any better people would want crushing points deductions and transfer window bans.
Also, to you point, City have "dominated" literally one league season, the 100 points season. The year after, City won it by a point. The next season, Liverpool blew the entire league out the water and went 25 points clear. The season after City were 11th in November and there were 7/8 different league leaders with Liverpool prevented from winning the title again due to mass injuries. The season after city won by a point again. Then city had to catch an Arsenal team that had to merely maintain a 2-0 lead against West Ham and Liverpool to all but win the title. City this season had to rely on both Arsenal and Liverpool dropping points.
How is this considered some juggernaut of a team when in basically every season City relied on teams dropping points carelessly. yes it's impressive what pep has done, but it's more impressive how poorly every other team throws away points

Even if they don't win it, it's still a testament to Klopp's work. Not only that but that team has given us a lot of exiting games and seasons. When most of the panel have roughly similar perspectives on a topic, the quality of discussion drops significantly. Craig just stands out because this is probably the 20th time this season they brought the Man City/Pep discussion on the kick-off, and he's the only one with a perspective that's different to everyone else on the matter.

Chelsea have gotten significantly worse since spending unscrupulous amounts, and are pending an investigation. Have they gained an unfair advantage or become worse? It seems Mancity are the needle in the haystack of teams that spend a lot and have actually become successful and improved, and because of that fans are calling for relegation and expulsion. Also, what do you define as "unfair"? Because to me, City have merely bridged the gap with their expenditures. It's taken a decade of self destruction from man united for City to be even considered as good a team, still nowhere near the dominance mind you. So "unfair" to me is a competitive law restricting teams to their own minuscule revenue generation in comparison to United and Liverpool and expecting the league to become more competitive.

@@tf0256 my point is that because of how dominant Manchester United have been due to amazing managerial leadership and being the dominant team during the rise of huge commercialisation, they have become solidified as a an "apex club" to coin Brian's phrase. In order for any club outside the top 6 to break into that block, you either need an insane amount of luck, or huge investment. Man city have had both to get into the position they're currently in. The "rules" are clearly not fit for purpose as Manchester City have allegedly breached them and still been able to complete a treble. They also limit clubs like Brighton and Brentford who essentially have to get lucky in order to arrive in the top 5/10 because they can't compete with the wages and transfers of other clubs. That means they're limited to a smaller group of players that want to come. I'm pointing out the flaws of the ruleset which limits smaller clubs (in terms of revenue) and solidified the "big six." That to me is unfair

Man City. For me it is harsh trying to hold that against a guy who's squad was getting crazy points totals most seasons and still come up empty handed.
It's difficult because the issues over style of play and then what it does in terms of injuries is also a fair criticism because it did see Liverpool drop off... in essence I would actually say. Liverpool in hindsight, weren't as well run as they appeared to be but in spite of that they were usually challenging at a level that they shouldn't have been, which then circles back to the point around funding and what Liverpool, maybe could have achieved if they had spent more.

There’s closure and comfort knowing [insert team here] didn’t win much through the early years of the premier league because Fergie’s united was there. Perhaps Wenger is the greatest manager of all time too if it weren’t for Fergie. Let’s call Jose the hypothetical GOAT while we’re at since he was coaching during the Fergie years.
I understand why anyone who isn’t a city fan wants to hold onto the charges and start making arguments in this way, but don’t shoot yourselves in the foot to get your points across.
One of the reasons everyone is ready with these sorts of statements is because there’s a possibility you’d have to accept the fact it’s just City’s time at the top. If City are found guilty, these mental gymnastics wouldn’t be necessary. A guilty club wouldn’t need mental gymnastics to shoot down; you just shut them up with the verdict and they would lose all credibility in any discussion.
From an earnest listener: If you start creating mental loopholes just accommodate where city is, you’ll be killing your arguments and start sounding like you’re rambling nonsense. It’s football. It’s ups and downs. Obviously don’t ignore the facts, but this is just fantasy spoken out loud.

    Hi Brian !!
I think we need some perspective here , this was a rebuild and I personally think as a Liverpool fan we've actually overachieved !!
Noone expected us to be in this position at the start of the season !!
Doesn't take away the fact we have hit our worst patch at the wrong time !!
