    My hunting career sounds just like yours except I’m a little older and this past season was my second year of hunting beast style and although I didn’t get a mature buck I had better quality sits and was just off by 20-30 yards two different times on two of my target bucks that I had seen in the off season and figured them out and just chose the wrong tree but overall I was very happy with the season and seen a huge difference in the amount and quality of deer seen on stand

      Beast style changed everything for me and took me to another level. Glad you are getting more and more into it. Only a matter of time and effort before you knock down a big one!

      @@NextStepOutdoors I’m ready to get that first big one under my belt for sure. Going from a stump sitter type hunter to this is so much better and I really enjoy my time in the woods. I always did enjoy the woods my whole life but not I don’t coach my kids because they are older now and now I have the time and a reason to be in the woods. Thanks for the time and work you put into these videos for our learning and enjoyment. I appreciate that. I started doing filming too and it’s my third year in my saddle and this past season was my first year one sticking just like the trends but I do enjoy and got into ropes and stuff also and made so pretty cool things that I learned and made something that is for me. I took ideas from a few different guys and tuned it to make it my own one of a kind. I would love to have a beast stand to out in my tool box of hunting stuff. The filming I do is just for me and my family since I really don’t know anything about editing and if I decide to start editing there are plenty of videos to teach me. Anyway thanks again.

    Nice video for an adult learning hunting. Any book recommendations that you have found to be newbie friendly or deemable as essential reading in your opinion?

      Mapping Trophy Bucks by Matt Herndon and Bowhunting Pressured Whitetails by John Eberhart are two that helped me a ton. They cover a range of topics. Super pumped you got some value out of my video!

      A ton. When I first got serious about deer hunting he was one of the first people I really started to follow and I can attest a lot of my success to the principles I’ve learned from him.

    Awesome video Aaron! Looking forward to the mobile system too because I got screwed by stationary stands last year. I had to set up on state land and lock it in place and then couldn’t move when a booger clown set up 40 yards behind me with a 10 foot extension ladder and made a hell of a lot of noise.

    • @NextStepOutdoors
      @NextStepOutdoors  Před 3 lety

      Yep it pays to be mobile. Just need to get you some light climbing sticks and you will be set.

    If you are hunting public land in a different state...or in an area that you've never been to before...contact the local wildlife biologist. They get paid to know about the deer populations in the area. They may tell you that place is a dud and give you better options!
