I just rebuilt one of these, an uncommon self-propelled model from 2004. I spent $20 on the unit, and another $20 for a used motor since the original one had a badly damaged commutator bar. I really enjoy it! These units were always great residential carpet cleaners when maintained correctly.
We had one of these 10 years ago. Brush motor died. Replaced it with the big green. The big green cleans 10 times better than the pro heat ever did. Pro heat would pull out grey water. The big green always pulls out straight black water. You can tell the difference in agitation and suction on the carpet while cleaning. The pro heat needed 24 hrs before the carpet was dry. The big green only a few hours. I did however steal the heater out of the pro heat and used it as an engine block heater in the winter.
Yep me too,well grabbed it from my kids dad's apartment dumpsters while I was dropping of a trash bag, im amazed the quality things people just toss out...We've also have grabbed two big screen tvs that totally worked great,no why someone wouldn't least sell them. Maybe they're using dumpster like a donation thing lol.
Same shampooer as ours, we bought it new years ago, over time as we used it the thing got worse and worse until it didn't work anymore. Wife wanted a new one so I thought maybe I could salvage it before I threw it away, I completely disassembled it and found out all the hoses and the heater were plugged up with lime. So I completely cleaned it and it works as good as new. The only water we use in it now is DISTILLED water and everything is fine.
I love my Proheat, I also want the Big Green for wider areas. I bought a brand new Kirby Avalir 2 this Summer and I told the salesman I didn't want to shampooer attachment.
Well the attachments are supposed to come with it. You could just call them and ask them to ship the attachments to you. It shouldn't cost anything since you are technically already paying for it.
I have the Proheat Pet Turbo from 2020 I believe, and it’s a decent extractor for the $130 I paid for it. I do want to try a Big Green or a 2X Pet Pro, but it does it’s job well enough.
I have tried everything you've shown here, my problem is no water movement when I squeeze the yellow trigger on the handle. Do you have any ideas what I can try to fix this? Thank you!
My friend had your exact Bissell in her attic, practically brand new. We replaced 2 of the belts that were dry rotted, cleaned the heater. It’s spraying, not sure if water and formula are mixing together. There appears to be a leak on the very bottom. I can’t figure out how to remove the black piece on the bottom, you can see a hose in there. I have a feeling this has something to do with the hose. Help!

I have 1 mystery to solve and if it can be solved I’ll be on my way to getting my wonderful pet’s stitch out of my rugs. I’m having trouble with the piston that sits in the smart mix dial. It’s under the cover. As you know it goes up and down to control water rinse only, medium traffic, high traffic. If I could send you a photo to show you, maybe you could help.
I bought a used bissel preheat almost identical to the one you got marketplace for free. I ran it today and it seems to leak from the bottom. Any ideas or tips on how I can fix this?

Just found a 2012 model in great shape. It just needs a wipe down. Got it for $13.
Nice that is was a simple fix. I think even the cheaper Hoover suck out and dry the carpet better than any Bisell Pro Heat that I have ever used.
I found one of these bissel proheat got for 19.99 one needed a clean and a minor flush out on the system works great

I thought the Motor be bad on it, but NO I was beyond wrong, thing works great

Try removing all visible screws.

Take it apart and search for the leak. Might be too much trouble though.
