I may have subscribed for the railway, and that's still my favourite, but I stick around for the no frills innocence of your channel amd because you seem like a really nice friendly and fun person. Watching your videos, be they railways, charcoal crushers or wooden trikes, makes me happy. Keep posting. I hope the income picks up. I always 'like' 👍 your vids in the hope it helps a little.

I like how this changed from 'I'll build a pedal car so I can go to the shops without using fuel' to 'I'm making a kit-car to sell plans for as a major project'.
Also, thinking about this, it's not really that bad an idea either. It won't be winning any races or making epic journeys, but for a 'pop to the shops' or commuter vehicle, I could get use out of it.

    • @patrickspendrin3107

I feel like a name needs to give you a memorable brand, plus scope for developing your design ideas in various related directions. I'm sure this isn't the final answer, but what about generically branding it as something like the "Freedom", and then making this particular model something like, the "Freedom AWC" (All Weather Cruiser). That way, you could develop the Freedom AWC Estate, or Sport, or 2.0, etc, without losing your brand continuity. I chose "Freedom" as a term which sums up what you're trying to offer the driver: affordable, tax-free, energy-efficient personal transport which is designed for use in all weathers. But someone can maybe improve on this? Very best of luck: it's a great and much-needed project in our times of soaring energy prices. I like the palletised kit idea, btw.

I'm surprised that you have so many holes in the front to let the rain in, specially living in one of the rainiest places on the planet! Maybe glue a piece of foam board behind your flower design, so the deign pops out, but rain doesn't get in and wet your legs?
I love your design and sense of scale. I need a project like this next year when I retire. Too lazy to peddle, but will pedal when I see cops.
I won't be making it out of plywood though. I did built a LongEZ aircraft from plans many decades ago, and will build it that way. Foam covered with fiberglass + epoxy, with plywood or aluminum hard-points where required, before glassing.
If built correctly, it provides excellent sound, vibration and heat/cold protection. Not to mention it will be lighter, stiffer, and never rot like would.
The beauty of this technique is you can carve your creation with a brad knife, then sand to perfection before glassing. Curves are sexy like what you have there. Sharp angles are not.
I await your plans and price.

I have made a good number of small cars and I have some recommendations for fabricating steering spindles:
Excellent spindles can be pretty easily fabricated out of .......wait.....hexagonal tubing and rods?
The first secret of hexagonal tubing is the shape; as it has the advantages of both a round and a square tube!
The top, bottom AND sides of hexagonal tube are all FLAT so it's easy to attach the steering arms; but the corners of the sides of the hex tube are shorter than a comparable square tube so that they can easily spin in the shackle.
A huge, HUGE added bonus of using hexagonal rods is that the RODS fit beautifully inside of hexagonal TUBES with NO machining!
If you have ever worked with "off the shelf metal tubes and rods" and have tried to telescope one size over the other; you will appreciate this!
The corners of hexagonal rod are also easy to grind down to make rounded sections which then can be threaded to make the securing bolt for the spindle .
My grand daddy showed me all of this.....um.... right before he died...sniff

Like I said when i sent you a email Tim your vehicle reminds me alot of both the Sinclair C5 and the Organic Transit ELF why not name it the "Leprechaun" Velomobile for it's small and compact size for being Irish made. I think this is a very good concept design I would love to get plans for this if you make them public for people as I have a friend in North Carolina who has a passion for bikes and trikes made of reuseable material called Sol-Mobil
