  • I take a closer look at the SW-MOTECH Panniers that I have put on my Z900. I've also fixed a hyperflash issue that I had from swapping out my indicators. Other bags are available like Shad, Kriega and Oxford but I'm liking these SW-Motec saddlebags alot!

    I have a set of 10-year old Motech Dakar bags on my 2013 Super Tenere. I've been up and down the west coast in the US and all the way to Alaska thru Canada. Their bags are bombproof and the Velcro still holds like new even though I'm always undoing it.

    Have them on my Street Triple 765R. Excellent piece of kit.

    Thx for the video, used them on an mt10 a couple times before i sold it in some pretty horrible weather and never noticed any water inside, still the inner bag is a nice touch.

    Thank you for the video, it will definitely be useful in decision making for a lot of people.
    I also had SW-MOTECH in my selection.
    I already bought a Shad sh23 and a 3p system, I'll see and I'll be satisfied.
    I wish you many nice kilometers.

    Interesting vid, but I went with the slc version for my z900. Glad you used the better relay for your Z. Anyway, ride safe, god bless u.

    Great bags. Have them on my z900 -17. Had them for 4-5 years.
    They actually extends all the way around, not just at the upper half.
    Thanks for your videos, Cheers

      Had to check that one! Mine definitely hinge at the bottom, I can't see any way they would open up all the way round.

    Another great video bud. Good review on those soft panniers too. One of our biking group has those exact ones on his MT07 and they are just the business when i asked him about them. Things have changed for me now, i got the bike you didn't like the feel of!! the Z1000SX. We are just getting ready for a Spain-France trip starting in Plymouth to Santander. It's not far from us in Devon, which is convenient.
    Its not the first time i have done a bit of Europe on a bike, but it's been a while... Going week after next (thought i would let easter go by first!) so i might see you out west! Eagerly awaiting your video on your trip! Have a good one. Cheers

      That Z1000SX is a great choice, I've yet to find anything that beats it for price. I think you are doing the same trip as us, I'd love to know how you get on.

    SO expensive that Motech setup, I can buy the same setup here in my country for less than 70 quid including the saddle arm pole. Saddle bag qualit is not the same but I wont pay 350 for a bag.
    2:29 that plastic cover or anything to protect the paint is essential, mine got so many scratches after riding for hours.

    Nice review 👍 I'm thinking of getting some for my Kawasaki Z1000SX rather than the Kawasaki original paniers...

    • @bikerevz
      @bikerevz  Před rokem +1

      Yeah, I reckon that could work and then you would have soft panniers, which some people think a bit safer if you were to hit them whilst riding.

      Fitted mine last week or so. Haven't put mine to the test, apart from a trip to work. I got some anti slip rubber mat and cut it to fit. Cost is about 1 or 2€, provide extra security because anti-slip and protect your paint. I've posted in a link in the comments of mark's previous video. Quite pleased with it and i recommend it for every other blaze saddlebag user.

    Thinking of buying some blaze panniers fir my Street Triple RS moto 2 limited addition that arrives next week & wondered if they're water proof as I'm off to Pyrenees & also do a few trips in UK wet Wales & Cumbria cheers

    • @bikerevz
      @bikerevz  Před rokem

      Sounds like you do the same touring as me. I'd say they are shower proof with good water resistant zips. If it's going to be really wet then they do come with waterproof inner bags.

    Great video , has somenone try it with 2nd person on the bike and was it ok ?
    As i can see the velctro is on the seat and maybe this is a problem.

    • @bikerevz
      @bikerevz  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I think that would be a problem as the bags go over the seat so it would be even more uncomfortable than the standard ride on this bike!

    How are the bags with passengers? And can they fit a helmet? Just a curiosity. Thanks a bunch!

    • @bikerevz
      @bikerevz  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Not so good with a pillion as the wide strip that links the 2 bags goes over the seat. Let's be honest, it ain't a great pillion bike anyway!

    I bought these bags for my 2020 Z900 and I'm waiting for them to be delivered any day soon. Did you notice any scratches or wear on the back end of your bike after riding with these bags? Thanks for the review, appreciate it. Cheers

    • @bikerevz
      @bikerevz  Před 17 dny +1

      You definitely need something to protect the 'corners' of the tail plastics. Either a strip of tape along each edge or just throw a soft cloth over the tail before fitting the bags.

      @@bikerevz Thanks for the advice, appreciate it. What kind of tape do you recommend? Something like painters tape?

    • @bikerevz
      @bikerevz  Před 17 dny +1

      @@hisgen01I cut strips off the plastic sheets they provide (about an inch wide and 2 inches long) or I used good old black electrical tape.

    Do you think they are too easy to steal compared to panniers with straps that go under the seat?
    Considering how much they cost, I'm more worried about someone stealing the panniers rather than the contents!

    • @bikerevz
      @bikerevz  Před 2 měsíci

      Yes, the bags would be very easy for someone to take. The come off really easy so I take them everywhere with me.

    • @bikerevz

      You couldn't have a passenger and these bags. It wouldbe very uncomfortable.

    • @HightLink

      @@bikerevz because of the sit or the leg space? it's for a Tracer 7

    • @bikerevz
      @bikerevz  Před měsícem

      Both. It's not a great passenger bike anyway and these bags just take up the passenger area, so maybe you could squeeze someone on but it wouldn't be good. Maybe the tracer is different?

    • @HightLink
      @HightLink Před měsícem

      @@bikerevz The Tracer is a sport touring, she is pretty happy with the position, I'm just worried if the velcro on the seat will be uncomfortable.

    What if you dont have the rear pillions foot rest on your bike? how do you fit the bracket then? How much do the bags touch or rub on the bike? what will be the fix for this?

    • @bikerevz
      @bikerevz  Před rokem +1

      You should still have the brackets and holes on the frame unless you have ground them off? Brackets and bolts will therefore still fit. Might just need to adjust bolt length or maybe add some spacers but definitely possible.
