I’ve got an 044 and an 064 , STIHL trying to score an 066 ... Something about those old “muscle saws” makes me big toe shoot up in me boot. I remember back in the mid 80’s the mustang GT put out about 220hp , now in 2021 they’re up to 400-500hp but with the chainsaws the same time/performance doesn’t seem to hold. In other words an old 044 pre epa saw (when properly built) will take a built 462c’c lunch money. Stock for stock the 462c might be a fuzz quicker as it’s “hot” right out the box but when equal work done the 044 shines. The port timing / flow characteristics are superior in those old K/S (kolbenschmidt) cylinders ... have a nice day ... eh ?
My dad cut with Stihl 051's back in the day. Wish I had one to run in the woods once in a while. The 066 is the saw of saws. Looking forward to the rail cart video.
I used to cut firewood with my old mans 051AVE had a 32 on it ended up putting a 28 on it, heavy b*tch of a saw I was only 19 at the time. Haven't started the saw in many years, it was used for bucking big wood dad had a sawmill 35 plus years ago. I went and bought a 046 Magnum when I saved up enough money a lot nicer saw to use didn't buck bigger wood like the 51 thou.
Handy tip no it's not look both ways before you cross the street, hit the like button before you watch the video so you don't forget thay are always interesting. Keep them coming donnie.
Love your videos and the stories you tell. Your knowledge of engines is amazing. Seems like your family has had a very interesting life. Good for you. Thanks for the help you give all of us. Merry Christmas
The old 066 were the gold standard for fallers, over here its Stihl I know on the Island its Husky. New 066s were bought the tired saws rebuilt and used again for the second saw or used on the landing for bucking.

Hey Don, have you ever ported an 038 mag and if so was it worth it?
July 7 1966 was the day that they invented slced bread. That my brother Richards DOB.
Those cars are awesome looking! I didn't know we had rails in canada allowed to do that on, I'm guessing their decomonished rails ?
Donny have a merry Christmas sr. Would love to know if a stihl 391 would make a great ported saw? ❤️🌲🌲🌲❤️
