    In regards to image quality when using DLSS, it is important to note that you have it set on default sharpening which is way too low in my experience. As least for my monitor, I use 0.25 or 0.3 sharpening.

    I really dislike how so many are trying to clown on this tech yet they have no idea what RT or PT even is/does. It doesn't even matter if it only runs using Frame gen and DLSS rn... The devs themselves literally said its for future tech and future proofing the game. But you have the option to see what is essentially going to be the future of lighting now if you have a 4080 or 4090. Also you are not forced to run this on any card and you easily turn it off so I don't get why some are arguing that its forcing people to buy overpriced cards.

    Reflections and shadows are most noticible and lighting you see it everywhere and nowhere depending on scenes, sometimes a big deal for a scene, sometimes not..

    The latency was lowest with frame generation on. With reflex the latency penalty is the exact same as dlss2 on a 3000 series gpu. 7-8 milliseconds is hardly noticeable compared to the nearly 30ms without any upscaling, and the 15 avg ms with dlss2

    • @D3R3bel
      @D3R3bel Před rokem +1

      Frametime is the difference in ms between each frame. Since FG generates frames in between real frames, of course frametime latency would improve. But that isn't the actual latency you feel. Since FG generates frames seperate from your inputs, it does not actually improve perceived latency. At best, latency stays the same and at worst, it adds additional latency.

    This brings to question to me how well frame generation will be as its developed, because dlss when it first came out was terrible, now its an excellent tool most people agree is worthwhile but the same can not be said about frame generation at least for now, maybe by 6000 series the AI algorithm will able to generate frames in motion so well that even when slowed down to nitpick is barely noticeable.

    • @TheCanadian0495
      @TheCanadian0495 Před 9 měsíci

      In my experience it depends a lot on the game. The additional input latency in Hogwarts Legacy and Witcher 3 was completely unnoticeable, but in Cyberpunk it was juuuuust enough to be annoying. The game was still pretty responsive so I wouldn’t say it’s unplayable, but it was just barely enough input latency to at least be mildly irritating.
      That said I think it’s a very promising start that will only get better

    Personally I love DLSS in Cyberpunk. I actually prefer it over Native res with the sharpness slider turned all the way to 1. It looks sharper than native to me while not being oversharpened in any way. I made a couple comparison shots just for myself and the degradation in detail between 1440p native and 1440p DLSS performance was minimal. I had to zoom in A LOT to notice tiny miniscule degradations in quality that you would otherwise NEVER notice.
    So for Cyberpunk DLSS is perfect. I really want to recommend this to you Daniel: crank the sharpness up. of course it is subjective but imo it gets rid of the blurriness that DLSS has :D

      Also some people prefer oversharpened images even to original quality ones, so if you're that kind of man, you should try cranking the sharpness slider on your monitor. Don't worry if there won't be a "Sharpness" setting, it might be called some stupid marketing name

      @kaystephan2610 Před rokem

      @@vinylSummer I have tested DLSS a lot in Cyberpunk. Back when the sharpness slider was not a thing I just could not get myself to like it because it always had a very noticable blurriness to it. It always felt "softwashed" and a lot of detail got lost. With the sharpness slider this does not happen anymore. The Image is not OVERsharpened. It just looks clearer as if now the native image lacks details in some spots where the DLSS performance sharpness 1 image has more detail.
      I also experimented with the sharpness slider of the menu of my monitor and I set it to a value I like - one that is not too sharp and not too soft.

For the record i have been playing with a 3070 at a DSR resolution of 2176x1224, all max with path tracing and DLSS Performance and 44 fps in the benchmark honestly doesn't sound too bad to me. there is quite a lot of shimmering and overall softness because of the low dlss and overall slightly lower resolution than 1440p but honestly, i can definitely see myself playing the next dlc like this. If AMD releases their fsr3 and a modder/devs implement it cyberpunk with path tracing might actually be a viable option with a non 40 series card

    A few important notes for cyberpunk enjoyers;
    Disable Film Grain (Had it on for a more stylized playthrough, but the dlss starts blurring most of the image)
    If your hardware allows it, turn off dlss, but keep frame generation; You can't see it in the benchmark, but the rainy weather and any kind of fog become blurry with frame gen and dlss
    Also, I'm playing on an RTX4080 on 1440p and get around 80 frames with frame generation enabled and no dlss.
    There are still some glitches, avoid fast turns, since the light needs some time to render (pulling 180 degree shots, can feel like you're live rendering a blender project)
    The car reflections on glass work perfectly, but the metal surface often looks, oddly enough, like a low resolution texture if you just inspect it closer. And by closer, I mean standing in front of the car.
    And one personal annoyance: Your character still won't be reflected to any surface, so you won't see yourself in shop- or car windows, smooth surfaced buildings or any other reflectable surface..
    (I'd personally gladly take a 10fps hit, if that means I can see my character in my respective car window)

I know that showing how a game feels is hard and that a playable latency is subjective, but at least you saying something like 70ms latency feels quite playable or unplayable could give an idea. When coming to an age with frame generation, a lot of gamers know for them what is a playable frame rate, they wouldn't know what to them is a playable latency.

    Keep in mind that Cyberpunk is a game that gets massive fps gains from dropping res or using upscalers, because almost every graphical effect on the screen scales with resolution that includes ray tracing, that's why on 4k cyberpunk is demanding and to be frank you lose quality and precision on almost everything (tracing less rays as well), so 1080p with rtx 4090 feels kinda sad ngl. Certainly impressive, but considering that this engine will no longer be used it feels like a waste of resources and just mandatory nvidia paycheck for CDPR, would rather have them work on UE 5 to prepare it for their future games, that includes possibility of adding path tracing like right here, but for future games, oh well.
