Tamron is coming straight out from left field with their all new 35mm F/1.4, which is available for both the Nikon F-Mount and the Canon EF-Mount. But that’s not all, we also have the Nikkor 35mm F/1.4 on our hands, so we went all in and compared the two. To cut to the chase, if you’re looking for a good 35mm that is pin sharp, yet won’t cost you a bomb, the Tamron is what you should be looking at.

this was the video that made me buy this lens 3 months ago. it popped up on my home page again, wanted to leave a comment and thank. What a lens.
Thanks for watching and congrats on the lens
for sure you deserve much more followers you are very good, i m sure you ll have them . keep up the good work; always a pleasure to watch your videos. cheers from france
Thank you for your kind words and for watching our reviews. We very much appreciate the support
Thnks for the information.. you brought details about this lens which I've been looking for...
Glad we could help
Thanks for sharing the video. Definitely worth having a look at that lens 👍🙏
Thanks for watching. Yes very impressive lens
Arguably the best review on this lens. You gave great IQ examples and you didn’t make the video about you reviewing the lens. Way too many photographers make reviews about them reviewing the lens never demonstrating IQ . Keep up the good work. Awesome Review!!!
Thank you and thanks for watching! 👍
Great video, waiting for my tamron 35mm f1.4 !
Very interesting! In the past I’ve had trouble with getting sharp results from 3rd party lenses and never had issues with my nikkor lenses. Bought the docking stations for the sigmas and the results weren’t great after a lot time and effort. Did you have to fine tune the tamron or was it good to go out the box??!
I've had Tamron's previous 35mm f1.8 VC for over 2 years and have loved it. Didn't think Tamron could one-up themselves on that lens, but this looks very compelling.
They did. Hopefully they bring this to mirrorless cameras
*Plz comparison between tamron 35mm 1.8 and 35mm 1.4*
Thank you so much for this info. I have a question tho, how loud or silent is the autofocus when doing video?
It’s a quiet lens so I didn’t come across any issues
I’m looking at this Tamron 35mm or the Sigma Art 40mm .
I shoot live music photography and videography.
Really love the bokeh of the Tamron seems to me the Sigma has good soft bokeh but maybe not the dreamy dreamy look of the Tamron.
If YOU were getting either one of these lenses which one and why ?
I also shoot the d850 by the way.
Which one has the most reliable auto focus on the Nikon ?
With live music lens flare is a problem. Which one fairs best with the most contrast retention. Then which one has the most flare character? The most pleasing.
Thanks sir , and I really like your reviews
Thanks for the review. How do you find the AF? Suitable for action shots?
Autofocus is just as fast as the Nikkor lens.
@@TECH360TV Danke)))
Have you made a video comparing tamron’s 1.4 and 1.8 35mm? You should consider!
Great video although as far as the cost goes, MANY people will want to see the Tamron head to head with the Sigma 35 ART. How do you think they compare? Please take into account that the Sigma regularly drops to ~$599 on sales. Thanks!
Currently testing the Sigma 35 1.2. I’m extremely impressed by this lens. Downside for some is that it’s only available for E and L mount cameras.
@@TECH360TV Got it, that's helpful! How about the 1.4? That's what I currently own and I'm wondering if the "switch" to the Tamron would be a marked improvement.
I have the Tamron, I have been using it on a D3 and the results have been stunning
It’s a great lens!
Great review. Interested to see head to head with Sigma 1.2 35
Thanks. The Sigma 35 1.2 review is coming out this Sat
What camera backpack are you using in the video? Great video!! Great lens!!!
Hi it’s the Gitzo Century backpack: www.cathayphoto.com.sg/photo-video-accessories/gitzo-century-traveler-camera-backpack-black
TECH360.TV Thank you so much 😊👍🏻
You did shoot also with the new Sigma 35mm f1.2. Which do you prefer between the two lenses and why ?
Not trying to be politically correct here but both are good. The 35 1.2 is a fantastic lens that’s sharp at 1.2, great bokeh etc etc. However it is a heavy lens and for some that’s a deal breaker. The Tamron 1.4 is a great lens but not designed for mirrorless so you will need an adapter. It’s also a sharp lens with great rendering.
great video ! Please review the tamron 35-150mm too !
Thanks for watching :)
We have that in the pipeline now :)
Thanks !
Will it work well with the nikon z6 and the adapter? Fast auto focus?
Haven’t tried but assuming yes, as the adapter works well
Did you have any front-/ backfocusing? (5:06 looks a bit out of focus and the dog). Had 3 different lenses on my d850 and every lens had issues.
Honestly I don’t remember that issue. More times than not it’s the photographer at fault not the camera. I’m guilty of this as well :)
@@TECH360TV Ok thanks for the fast response. I tested the lenses in a controlled environment. I will try to adjust the focus with the tap in console.
did you have any problem with the AF (miss focus) tamron 35 1.4 ? My copy miss focus sometimes in low light situation
Not that I remember. Could be the camera as well.
Mine misses pretty often in low light...Been shooting at 2.8 more often. I'm going to have Tamron calibrate it for me so hopefully that helps.
Sometimes DSLR’s need to be calibrated with the lens to get optimal performance.
I’d be surprised if the Tamron is sharper than the Sigma 35mm 1.2. That lens is SHARP!
Review coming out next week. Preview: I love the 35 1.2 Sigma 😊😊
@@TECH360TV Would be good to see the Tamron and Sigma side by side ;-)
Thats so interest.. How to use lightroom mobile on your pc like editing in this video?... Thanks🙏🙏🙏👌
I use Lightroom for the iPad. You can do most things with the mobile app though
Tamron 15/30 V2 is their best lens EVER without a shadow of a doubt.
Not according to their PR materials 😊
@@TECH360TV PR material, marketing mumbo jumbo....fantastic lens but Methinks the 15/30V2 just tops it.
Have you tested them against each other?
How does it compare to the new Sigma Art 35mm f1.2 lens in IQ ?
Good question. So far I feel the Sigma is sharper. I need to do more tests with the lens as I just got it but I’m very impressed.
Anyways the Sigma is only for E mount and L mount that I know of while the Tamron is for Nikon and Canon.
"Anyways the Sigma is only for E mount and L mount that I know of while the Tamron is for Nikon and Canon"
Must be a conspiracy here. Such shady collab.
Sigma is part of the L mount alliance with Leica and Panasonic so that makes sense, and E mount is very popular at the moment. I asked about Z and RF mount lenses, but so far Sigma still needs to do more engineering to make those mounts possible.
What you think about Nikon z6 + Nikon 35mm F1.8 S vs Nikon D850 + Tamron 35mm F1.4 ?
OMG..what a beautiful lens..Just found a 7 month old lens at a great camera store in India for INR 38500...around USD 520...WHAT SAY...FLAWLESS PIECE...even had the original sticker attached to it...worth a bargain?
Congrats!!
Is this better than the 35mm 1.4 Sigma art lens?
Tamron is a bit sharper wide open and noticeably better in the corners. Sigma has some colour fringing around its bokeh circles, while the Tamron has cleaner bokeh. The Tamron is heavier and bigger.
I am a Nikon shooter of 20+ years and I have always sung the praises of OEM gear...until TAMRON started dropping their G2 line! I have their 35mmf/1.8 -2470mmf2.8-70200f2.8 all G2 and besides saving me a TON of money, the photos I come away with are top tier...and that’s on my D4S! That camera will call you out on your mistakes! I just wish that TAMRON would make a 28mm focal length, even if it’s just at f/1.8.
Perhaps in the future, but I feel like we will be seeing less and less of the DSLR lenses and more focus on mirrorless.
TECH360.TV Sadly I know that you are right...I will hold out to the very end though! I plan on picking up the D5 replacement IF Nikon doesn’t screw that up...IF they do (they better not) I will pick up the D850 and ride off into the sunset.
I expect good things from the next D camera. The Olympics are too important for the likes of Nikon, Canon, Sony and Fujifilm for all not to bring out some impressive tech
TECH360.TV ...from your lips to God’s ears!
How to try this lence on sony a7iii or when its came for sony e mount ...
Thank you
Adapter will be the only option.
A little back focus on some of your photos?
Perhaps on some looking at the images
How much better is it than the Tamron F1.8? I really like the fact that the F1.8 has VC, but let's be honest, if the Tamron F1.4 had VC it might cost as much as the Nikon.
This is Tamron’s best 35 they have made. The 1.8 is also good, but as other reviews have said this is better
@@TECH360TV Thanks man. I was hoping you wouldn't say that.
tamron 35 1.4 vs tamron 35 1.8VC?
Tamron 35 1.4
I've had it for two weeks now and it hasn't come off of my camera.
Great lens right?? Congrats on getting it
TECH360.TV thanks. I’m debating on selling my canon 50 1.2 because this lens shoots such good portraits as well. Tamron really hit one out of the park with this fine piece of glass.
Yes they did. I’m a fan of the Canon 50 1.2 as well but I agree with your assessment on the 35.
*please tamron 1.4 vs 1.8*
I wonder why so many people on ebay selling their used 35mm tamron even they say they like it
because mirrorless
It is heavy heavy. Actually ended up going with a smaller one stop slower F2 lens.
Canon 35 1.4 II?
Fantastic lens but the Tamron is impressive especially for the price
when yall getting a million subs
We are trying :) Thanks for the support
I honestly don’t understand why people think image stabilization is so important...
When you shoot with it and without it you will see
nice bar wink
Sigma: Hold my beer!
Hahaha this Saturday will be a review on the new Sigma lenses for L- Mount.
What a handsome guy though 😍🤤
Why pixel peeping all the time? The Tamon is better on paper but also very clinical. The Nikon is seems to be a better story teller because this lens has suddenly a character.
I bought a Zeiss 2/25 years and it is my best performing lens. The image is so sharp that it doesn't look good any more for my work and I need to turn down sharpness. Sharpness is not everything.
It’s not everything and there is something to be said for older lenses, but dollar for dollar the Tamron does edge the Nikkor
@@TECH360TV What I wanted to say is that one needs to find a lens that suits the photography one wants to archive.
I would be happy with any of them because I don't have a 35mm in my pocket. Would it be a choice for me? I probably would go for an 35/2.
Many don't see it. People never asked me what lens I used to take this or that picture. What matters is that you can tell a story with your images and that people are amazed.
You are right. Most of the iconic photos we have seen were shot at f5 f8 etc. It’s about composition, moments etc.
However for gear reviews we focus on the specs more as for some this is very important.
No surprise. Btw Nikkor pronounces as Neker not naikaul.
Depends what part of the world someone is from. Some people say Zed some people say Z.
@@TECH360TV but isn't a Japanese name supposed to be read as the way it pronounced in Japan? Sure we do not read BMV as the Germans but think about vast majority of the brands.
I think you made my point with your last comment.
Is it made in china ?
I believe the Philippines
China
2112 xrtjrp thanks. I will never buy camera gears made in China.
Then you’ll want to stay away from the Nikon 200-500mm ... lol
Good luck
2112 xrtjrp Yep. I am Canon shooter. 🤠
Zeiss & Voigtlander lenses have more soul & award winning/money making potential vs these no soul ultra sharp lenses. This lens are for guys desperate to get laid who don't even know what Magnum agency is or never stepped foot in a gallery.
I've never met someone who got laid based on a lens but thats just me lol
Made in china LOL
nikkor lenses has no future, only rich people who doesn;t know about lenses would buy them, however, this kind of people wou'dnt exist anymore in the future, due to channels like yours.....
I think lens technology and engineering has improved from so many different manufacturers they are all around similar levels. Nikon still makes some great lenses like the 500 5.6 PF lens and their Z mount lenses are great as well. It just depends though. Thanks for watching btw. Much appreciated
huh?! Lol
Nikkor lenses has no future with amateurs
@@moheebsaad1918 u mean the people who.dont use.200mm and 400mm, which are.the only source of nikkor user's pride 😁😁😁😁😁
