I don't know who I like better Alfred Hitchcock or Rod Sterling both are geniuses ❤
So many Alfred Hitchcock episodes about husbands killing wives amd vice versa.
Reality
And now you can find a real life version of every story.
It's not particularly interesting when strangers kill one another. There's not as many ways to intrigue the viewer if the parties are strangers. These stories are character-based.
She said I'd be back for Christmas. Can be taken two ways:
He, the murderer would be back for Christmas because he would have to face murder charges when his wife's body would be discovered. Also she said WE WILL BE BACK, also meaning SHE TOO would be back. She would come back when they uncovered her buried body in the wine cellar. Her words were more prophetic than she realized. "You can rest assure, WE'LL BE BACK" is what she told her guests. It is so eerie how people can say things at a certain moment that actually turn out to be PROPHETIC. I have seen a picture of my two cousins: one a young girl of age 21 and beside her is a little boy age 10.The picture was taken in about 1968. It is just the two of them standing close together and the little boy of 10 is beside her. She is smiling. TODAY in 2019 as I write this, the older cousin is now 72 years old and she is taking care of the little boy( who is now 61) in her own home because he is disabled mentally. If you had told her in 1968 that she would have to take him in one day and be responsible for his care, she would have flat out denied it with strong rejection and disdainful laughter from utter disbelief. But it would turn out she would be more connected to that little boy than she could ever imagine! When I look at that picture today a cold chill comes over me how some times a sentence so casually spoken or a photo can be telling you about something that is GOING TO HAPPEN in the future! Life can be so VERY EERIE and STRANGE!
So true!
Calvin Jackson, Yelp so onpoint and exceptionally wise you see deep rooted truths that some can't see wow that's a gift perhaps that's is why you are a fan of Alfred Hitchcock movies sometimes the truth is right before our very eyes
The horrible and sad part is people like him ,commit murder and live with themselves without feeling any remorse
I wish you and your family the best. That's a difficult situation.
So carefree. Sociopath!!!
The lesson learned here: never dispose of your spouse in your own cellar/basement. LOL
Alfred Hitchcock was no joke...
Don't people lock their doors?
@@johnbockelie3899 I agree. The door was unlocked, yet the wife was worried about the windows. But they just walked in straight away. They didn't even give him a chance to answer the door.
This is a copy of a story that was done on Suspense Radio during the 40's called "Back for Christmas". But it was much longer (30 minutes) and had a longer lead up to the murder. Hermione was going to build a rare orchid garden for Herbert in the cellar.
Thank you I was trying to remember where I heard this story.
Couldn't he, as the owner of the house, just simply call it off? Like “Stop the job, i have no money to pay for it.”
I think the work was in progress?
Xiaomin-some of hitchcock's plots are implausible.. but others are gems.
By the time he received the bill, the work was in progress. Communication was not what it is today. That's not implausible. You just have to keep in mind when the episode was filmed. He was driving around a lot and the mail had to catch up with him.
Yes, but then there would be no satisfactory ending for the viewer.
I encourgage any readers who may be interested in this episode to LOOK AT THE BEGINNING (if it exists on youtube) to really get the full scope of this chilling episode and to understand the murderer's last statement!
There is a beginning and it's wonderfully done and it explains why he did what he did but he is still a evil man cause she was a good woman.
@@flippingforreal109 Its only a imagination of Hitchcock there is no good or bad Person at all .
Watched this on Nick at Nite, summer of 1990.
So many of Hitchcock's presentations prove the point that "crime doesn't pay." It's usually in the twist. Thank you so much for bringing old-fashioned suspense that doesn't disappoint!
When me and my wife used to watch these we joked about how many wives or husbands got ideas on how to get rid of their spouses.BTW, there was a similar story on Tales of the Unexpected.
My wife an I, not me and my wife. Simple way to know if you should use I or me...take "my wife" out of the sentence and see if it makes sense...in this case it does not so it is I not me.
eg. When me ... .. .... used to watch these etc.
"Back for Christmas" is not only one of my personal favorites on AHP but is also one of my favorite short stories to read (especially around Christmas time). It's such a dark comic tale concerning a perfect crime and the darkly ironic ending for the murderer. I first heard this story on radio particularly on Escape in 1947 then on Suspense (Radio's Outstanding Theatre of Thrills) first in 1943 with Peter Lorre then in 1948 with Herbert Marshall and then once more Marshall appeared in 1956. I watched the TV version on Tales of the Unexpected and thought it was good but very different and of course I watched Hitchcock's version of this story and it was good at rhe beginning, the moments before Herbert killed Hermione, and the final twist at the end. The radio version with Peter Lorre is my favorite because he finally loses his mind after all those years of being dominated by his nagging wife. Listen to the 1943 version sometime and you can understand why the husband had to kill her.
That's amazing that you still remember the radio programs! I wish I could have heard them.
Who wrote the story, can you tell me how to find a copy to read to my grandchildren? LOL seems like a really good Christmas tradition haha!
@@gurubhaikhalsa9337 The story was written by John Collier.
You can probably find the story to read online or can find the story as part of an anthology called Fancies and Goodnights.
So she was having the wine cellar built for him? Ungrateful cad. Lol.
I guess that was his Xmas present. Hopefully, she haunted him!
Ah, the folly.
How ironic haha
One of the best episodes i have seen.
He snapped
Yup. That's enough 👌🏽
Why would he turn the water on ??
John William's, his music infomercial was shown on TV for about 17 years after he died. Classical record sales.
I remember that so clearly! I love him. He was a terrific actor, playing good guys and bad guys equally well and with such ease.
I thought that was him. Just looked up the classical music commercial.
Dr. Crippen !
👍👌👏 Thanks a lot for uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health.
Cat's outt the bag 🙀
Best show
John Williams plays Wonderful Man Who Does Nothing Wrong. Story by John Collier.
There was a similar episode based on this storyline in the “Tales of the Unexpected” series from the 80’s also called “ Back for Christmas “ .. Both are equally enjoyable,l must say ..

There was a similar episode based on this storyline in the “Tales of the Unexpected” series from the 80’s also called “ Back for Christmas “ .. Both are equally enjoyable,l must say .. "
The reason for that?
Because both were penned by the MASTER
Raoul Dahl.............
ENJOYED THEM TO AND READ THE ORIGINAL
Siân Phillips was the ill-fated wife in that one.
@@ausendundeinenacht1 I thought this was written by John Collier.
@@williambishop8044 Dunno
Anyhow ....Collier was BRILLIANT
Byeeee
Do not go down the stairs !!!
Why are these Alfred Hitchcock episodes so short?
Carmencita Davis
It’s because of the advert. market. The Studio who owns these films can now reap the benefits without any obligation to have to show the whole film. They’ve been shortened to the prescribed attention span of the new American average of 10 minutes.
Isn’t this a clever angle to make free money? .
Carmencita Davis I saw the complete episode I don't remember where I saw it but this is an edited version
@@Wanamaker1946 they are being used by a free streaming service, Peacock, as an incentive to watch the FULL episode, of course, using Peacock.
Me tv shows full ones
This movie is already suspense
A true classic
A healthy caring womans world ,reminders to do good ladies .
He did all of that and DIDN'T lock the door 😔
I knew he should have gone deeper. lol
Back for Christmas?
Why would you even bother to put an Alfred Hitchcock flik for only 10 to 12 minutes? That sucks & it's simply ridiculous.
Karen Cawthorn I agree with you. I guess you have to think things out for yourself. Downright aggravating.
Ma'am, why can't you subscribe the Dailymotion app for full Sir. Alfred Hitchcock's presents or hour. You are very much liberty to watch full these gems.
Karen Cawthorn You can also watch the 50 min version. Search for the full length videos.
Brilliant
Cool shows
Just A. Not B. Minute. Dear
about 15 mins missing at th beginning
Yeah as grateful as i am for this channel for the HD uploads of these classics, I have noticed they do this all the time. They will upload one part of an episode and not label it “part 1” or part 2 or whatever, and then a month later all of a sudden they will upload the second part again without specifying which half of the episode it is...or sometimes they won’t even upload the second half...so you’re basically left to guess which half is which, beginning or end. Ah well...
Instant karma good for him👍thank you that was brilliant😘
How come these are only partial episodes?
Copyright law.
Oh...so sorry to get in your Selfish Narcissistic way!
Now that was rude...😠
Sound is too low 😒
Good move 2 👍👍up
Where is the beginning?
He got caught with his pants down shame on him thanks for the video 👍🇺🇸
Shan't C U again. Love
Nowhere in the video did she say "be back for Christmas".
This isn’t the whole episode, I think she said that in an earlier part of the program
It's in the letter he typed.
Things that make you go 🤔

Well where's the rest?
Omg she drove him to madness with her complaints
Because I need to escape...
I've seen a remake of this. Can't recall by whom. I believe it was Tales of the Unexpected.
Why did he kill his wife 🙄 please explain 🙏 friends
Erstwhile Dear
Why?? She's seemed yo be such a sweet ole bird, lol. Hermine must be a famous British name like Mary, Sally, Linda etc
Somehow...The name Linda does NOT conjure up famous British women!
She took a proper look at that proper hole and boom.. She was in it.. I only hope that one whack with the pipe killed her instantly. 😳 Great story!
All he has to do is cancel the job. Shouldn't be too difficult..:)
@@giovanna8187 the date on the estimate said Dec, 1955. Since they said they would start immediately to be done before Christmas, they would have already started by the time that letter got to him either by boat across the Atlantic or even air mail. Lol too bad for him! 🤪
Great spoiler, thanks.
@@dianalovescolors Good thinking! I wish someone would post the whole half hour. More suspense before the eventual misdeeds :(
@@Sunshine74444 so was your comment BEFORE mine that she was building the wine cellar for him. I am sorry now that I posted it. I won't again, I was just thinking people would read or post the comments after they watched the show or I wasn't thinking. I'm sorry.
Oh yeah, cus this the one..where someone was wanting to buy the 🏡. Oh lort!
this is not the full movie
Boy, that's an awful kick in the head, ain't it, Herbert 🤔
Il n’ai pas nécessaire de tuer ça femme pour être libre..il faut simplement la quitter..
He kept his cool for some time with his liquor .
I gave this a "Thumbs Down" because it's about half, if that, of a longer COMPLETE movie. It's stupid, insensitive and I don't know what else of whoever decided to put this "clip" up. I also dislike clips, or could you tell?
It's been on METV and other classic TV stations for years always late at night. I watched all of them years ago at 1:00 and 1:30 at night. Now I DVR some episodes.
Doug I was wondering how you like "who needs an enemy " that's the title it's also short, meaning with friends who needs enemies. You got it...its short too but very good and funny check it out.
And I can't tell you don't like clips you probably already watched the one I'm asking you too. 😉😉
This isn't a movie. Its an episodic TV show. These are used, like a teaser....to watch the full episode on Peacock, a free streaming service.
Now Now. If that RWA was a far away reality not invading bcos of no legal authorization you'd surely have enjoyed a more than joyous Christmas
This is simply disrespectful & shoddy the way the whole show is edited down to 10 minutes. It makes the story utter crap.
Ooops...
This is why you chop them up into little pieces and feed it to the hogs.

If you’re not on the farm ya just chop em’ up and use them chum. You might as well get a little fishing in. 😉
That's horrible Mr. Hitchcock!
