Agree 100% on the dates.
I think the couples who say that aren't actually friends with their spouse, which I think is so weird! My husband and I spend the majority of our free time together doing simple things like taking walks, talking, cooking, watching movies or playing games. There is really no need to go on an expensive date to reconnect when we're connecting nonstop! Good enough for us! We've been together 16 years😊

My partner and I met each other first time ten years ago, been together nine years, and lived together for seven (we had a long distance relationship for two years). So we got together in our 40's. Also, we don't argue, we have similar views on a lot of stuff, and communication is good. Also, we don't stress or get irritated about small, insignificant things.
The growing together vs growing apart thing, is something I think depends on the people. My ex and I got together when we were very young, and we definitively grew apart. The twenties are very formative years. Even though we had good communication, we just changed in different directions. And that's OK.
For me it's super important to have enough alone time, and do my own things. If we were "glued to the hip", I would get annoyed and grumpy (not fun to be with). I don't think there's one answer how to make it work, it really depends on the persons in the relationship and their personalities.
I don't talk about marriage, as to me marriage is simply a written contract. And I don't plan on ever marrying anyone. ;-)
Ah, I got you. I think marriage is much more than a contract and I really love it. I know many people who have lived together and are not married, but I respect that you have the freedom to choose your own life too.

@@TheMennomilist I would say nothing ever "goes wrong" in a relationship... there are only learning experiences and you decide what to do with your new knowledge... there are times when you have to determine if those disagreements are worth the drama... Kitti and I just celebrated 26 yrs in May 2024 and I don't know what I would do without her.
