Hey everyone! We are back from a MUCH needed family vacation and I finally have been able to finish this video! I have had a good amount of drive time with this lens and feel it's a GREAT budget-friendly option for someone looking at the Canon L series 24-70 but doesn't wanna drop the coin💰

I've had the Tamron 24-70 G1 and when I accidentally destroyed it in a hard fall, I replaced it with the Tamron 24-70 2.8 G2..
I personally prefer it over the Canon EF versions..
Though Canon really killed most every other manufacturer with their RF line up.. both the RF 24-70 2.8 & the 28-70 F2 are just absolute insanity. I will eventually pick up one to keep.

Hi! I have an r8 and am currently looking for a versatile, general-purpose lens of great quality. I already have the ef-rf adapter, so EF glass is no problem. I mostly want a lens that is really nice and sharp, up to today's standards, and preferably with an aperture of 2.8 (or 4). My budget is up to about 800€ (used). I really can't make a decision...especially as the older and newer lenses are rarely compared directly to each other or to the current standard. The next lenses are still on my list:
    EF 24-70 f/2.8 (mark 1)
    EF 24-70 f/4
    EF 24-105 f/4 (either mark 1 or mark 2)
    Sigma 24-105 f/4
    Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 (either mark 1 or mark 2).
Which of these would you recommend and why? I would love to hear your insights!!

@@GarrettWare I'm excited man! Did my fair share of research before I pulled the trigger! Finally convinced that this lens is a better investment than the canons 24-70 ii given that lens is sharper but with the built in stabilizer and the price difference. It's a no brainier for me to get the Tamron

Nice review. In the begining you are so eagerly trying to sell Sigma which makes me think that it is the history you've had with Sigma that makes you kind of lean towards them. Some of the points I have cought: 1. Price of Tamron is lower than Sigma by MSRP 100$ (currently they are +/- the same in terms of price, but it reallllllly depends on where you are located on the globe). 2. Sigma's IS is virtually non existent vs. Tamron has an impressive 5 stop VR. 3. Tamron has full weather sealing w. Sigma's only weather gasket at the mount 4. Sigma is heavier by ~100g.

@Garrett Ware That's awesome! How did the lens do for the Wedding? Really am debating, cause if I go with the G2 then I'm getting the newer version but at the same price point if I want the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 II version even used I'm looking at 1200-1300 and I just don't know if I can swing that. Appreciate the response!

@@GarrettWare I looked at some raw files of 24-105 mm and did not satisfy me in terms of sharpness. I prefer 24-70 mm. 24-105 mm quite a long for me but of course RF mount may bring more performance.
