I’ve seen the Leeds v Chelsea game back in the day but the rules of football have changed so you can’t compare the two games. Atletico played the dark arts at least 4 of their players went way over the top in how they tried too play, I’m not a City fan but I’d rather watch the Pep way than the Atletico way only because the rules have changed so much, pulling hair, head butts, dragging players back on the pitch, and elbow in the back of the head for Foden, if that’s in the rules then fine then both teams can do it but if City reacted they would have had a player sent off that’s where it’s wrong in my opinion.
The ref was poor let’s be honest he was never really in charge of that game he brought it on himself by being far too weak.

Atlético Madrid were the same (maybe not as bad) vs Man Utd, but because Man Utd had been so poor, the attention was quickly focused on their performance rather than the antics of AM. In this game though, AM from a pure footballing point of view were brilliant but their extra-curricular antics weren't. They could probably have scored a goal if they would've put their energy more into the balling side rather than the bullying! Some fantastic balls out wide, interceptions and playmaking throughout the game were marred by a lack of discipline. Shame really because they were pegging Man City back in the football playing stakes for periods!

Anyone who thinks Diego Some-one is a "world-class" manager should review the last 15 minutes of that match.
    1) Taking João Félix, Koke, and Antoine Griezmann off, and reducing Luis Suárez to a bit-part cameo, when your team is in desperate need of an aggregate goal, on your home ground, in a Champions League quarter-final?
    2) Throwing team discipline out the window, and resorting to toxic thuggery, at a crucial stage of the match, (i.e. where Felipe recklessly swings his leg for a foolish red-card-deserving tackle, and Savić drags Foden off the pitch, headbutts Sterling, and pulls Grealish's hair), as the clock is rapidly ticking away, and time would be better spent, on the attack, in the opposition's box?
    3) Capitulating before the final whistle, by sarcastically clapping in protest of the officiating, and encouraging fans in the stadium to do the same, when your theatrics would be better placed, in energizing a final push forward?
That is tactical ineptitude on stilts.
Congratulations to Diego Some-one and Atlético Madrid for losing a more-than-winnable match, on a day when City were not at their best.

As a former centre back in Sunday League football for 12 years...defending is also part of the game. Its not an easy task defending attack after attack. Everyone focuses on the attacking side of the game. The ballon Dor is a perfect example. Strikers/forwards always win.

I agree with you I don't like the ballon Dor I think it needs to be totally remodeled with a different voting system in place. Not a popularity contest. Messi will be in the top 5 this year regardless.

Simeone encourages his players to cheat, time waste, dive & get opposition players booked or sent off & win 1-0 with a squad, as Jamie said, that cost €600m. Wd rather watch Pulis' Stoke.

Athletico were the better team & played some good stuff. It’s the thuggish behaviour of the players which are a product of Simone. That’s wrong. Footballing wise, they were better. City resorted to play acting towards the end but I guess that’s tunnel vision eh ? Yeah play em at they’re own game. That’s a better assessment. Plus the ref gave an awful lot to city which again has gone unnoticed.
