In this video I show a full day in the life chasing my dream of becoming an Olympian. I do a threshold training as well as a short speed session in preparation for my next track race: the steeplechase at LA Track Fest. I also show some of the other little things that I do to maximize my fitness and progress such as lifting, activation, mobility, rolling, treatment, and nutrition. Overall this was a great day in the life, and I'm so so excited for the rest of the track season! #AllieOstrander #OlympicTrials #NNormal #transparentlabs #ParisOlympics

You have a good coach: but distance coaches never do pure speed workouts: you don't need much, but getting a few fast 60 m sprints would be a bonus to your workouts done before NOT after the main workout.
Go get it.
Good luck on your Saturday race.. was upset to see some of the comments people sent that you mentioned on one of your shorts but just remember where you'll be when you're lining up at the start and think where they'll be... You're awesome Allie and the community loves you
Gee, can folks complain about everything.
What???? What pathetic individuals are sending her hate?
I am honestly so fortunate that 99% of the comments on my videos are love, support, and encouragement. I appreciate this community so much!
Whoa.. she wrote back!
@@gloven2run689She usually does for the most part.
Good luck Allie! As a mom who used to be a runner, still trying to be and now raising a teenage daughter with an ED your videos have been so inspiring. We are cheering you on all the way from Northern Ontario Canada!!
awe, so glad that they have resonated with you. I appreciate the cheers and support!
Crush it at the LA Track Fest, Allie 🏃♀You have the second seeded time in the field. Time to crush that 9:23:00. 💪
that would be amazing!
@@allie_ostrander Maybe I'll run into you and Spencer at Track Fest.
Steeple in the US is deeper than ever, but with Coburn unfortunately out, that likely opens up a spot that wouldn't have been there before. Being a former global championship competitor for teem USA can't be overlooked, and opening faster than previous seasons can often set up late season success. Allie, you got this!
anything can happen, that's why the US qualification for the Olympic team is so exciting!
Fantastic video as usual Allie! You seem on the right track 😉. I will be there for the 3000m Olympic trials steeple final, I look forward to seeing you race it.
amazing, it will be such an exciting race!
Less than 1% chance of making it is a million times more of a chance than most people have! Congrats on qualifying and excited to cheer you on
Of course you have a shot at the Olympics. You are a former NCAA champion and your running looks so good right now!! Cheering for you. Lot’s of fans here.
taking my shot!
Meant to thumb’s up on this and accidentally thumb’s up on the the last one. Deep field or not you have a shot based on your determination, talent, and past achievements.
Allie - You inspire me in my running, and I've been running since 1982.
that's amazing to hear...but you inspire me! Running for over 40 years? That's the longevity I aspire to!
Allie, your channel inspires me. It's such a joy to watch your processes and your journey. I will be rooting for you this Saturday and into the Olympic trials. You totally RULE!! Good luck!
So happy that you enjoy it :) I love sharing about my process, and all of the support from this community helps me through!
You are 100% a true Olympic hopeful. Keep crushing it!
What a rebel~ no bikes on the track lol! Along with hope is all the effort put into your training. No regrets later in life and I hope you give it your best shot..for you. Beyond Good Luck~Best of Luck!
Sending you hopeful energy~ hit those curves hard' as they are so fun. No caution~ curves ahead!
I had to go after it this track season because I knew I would regret it if I didn't!

Where you can find the results

Big supporter of BOF. Amazing way to get in a nice meal out of pretty much anything you've got. Best of luck this Satuday!
BOFs are my go-to whenever I'm just cooking for myself!
Keep it up Allie!
Pulling for ya Allie❤
Good Luck tomorrow Allie. I'm very excited for you. Go Kards, 85
There is no time like the present to celebrate in the future. Handsome Georgie loves his food. You're a champion...now go do it!!!
Inspiring!
Smooth running!
Olympic trials is exciting and all but when are you racing the Local Legend in the 5k?
hopefully soon because he's low-key getting fit...
it does feel weird to have a race so close to another race but thats the fun part of track is getting to race whenever u want, at least for me, have fun in la!!
yes! track is fun because you can race so much! And racing more usually helps me race better!
Soo you’re saying there’s a chance??? Hell ya you do!! 🫡🫡🫡
haha yes there's a chance, and I don't care how small it is!
Wishing you well, dear Allie, both in life and in running. Your family and doggie too. May Jesus bless you.
Good luck racing!!
You are AMAZING
I have (had?) they same tan goodrs you’re wearing!! But I recently lost them 😭 gotta get a new pair. An Allie Ostrander x Goodr collab would be so epic. Good luck this weekend!!!
that would be so fun!
Let’s gooo champ 💪
woohoo!
You will definitly make it to the olympics with all this hard work. Question for you, I have recently been adding speed session into my runnig schedule and I was wondering how to you become able to do 600m, 800m and so on of intervals. Right now I have been doing 8-10 times 400m intervals with 2 minutes jog rest or 5km tempo at a hard pace . In all honesty how do you know what pace to go ?
Good luck Saturday, Allie. You are getting really fit, and I think you can shave off some more seconds by focusing more on battling those around you and not having to hit a certain time standard. Your increased fitness will continue to build confidence and help you act more on racing instincts.
definitely! I'm excited to really have people around me to compete with in this race.
Nice Video!
Honestly hope you make the Olympics but also have no idea what the field is like. Go Allie!
YOU CAN DO IT
Good luck
Relaxed & smooth stride, no doubt. . . but also, high level apple-chopping skills!
🍎 🤩
haha carefully crafted apple cutting skills..
Hey Allie! I noticed your DJI mic and was wondering if you use a DJI camera too and if so which one? Good luck with your next race!
I used to use the DJI Osmo Pocket to film myself running, but I got the insta360 and prefer that.
LETS GOOOOO
Saludos desde mexico 🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️
3:25 min/km ... "nice and relaxed" x.x
I hope you don't ever loose sight of how impressive that is!!
I thought I was going insane when I heard 对不起(duibuqi, means sorry) at the beginning of that song but then it was a song about saying sorry so it makes sense hahahha
When Georgie spins 😭😭😭🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
Good luck tomorrow.
Do you relate threshold pace to a performance standard? Is it around the pace you could hold for an hour? Or does it correlate generally to a race distance, such as projected 15k or half marathon pace? Do you make a distinction between Threshold and Tempo pace? I run 20 minute runs at about the projected pace I could hold for 1 hour, which for me is around 10-12k pace. I call this Tempo pace. Hope you have a great RACE experience this weekend!
For threshold, I usually go by HR and pace. I do a lot of threshold on the uphill treadmill, and for that I shoot for a HR of 170-175. Outside, it depends on how long the rep is, but my threshold pace is anywhere from 5:20-5:45. I'm not sure how long I could run at those paces, but I've just honed it in over time. My general advice would be to do short threshold reps (5-15min) at your 1hr pace and then slow down slightly the longer the duration is (so if you were going 1hr, it would be 25-45sec slower per mile than your 10-12k pace). The overarching goal of threshold is to produce and buffer lactate at the same rate and, therefore, increase your lactate buffering efficiency. Tempo is more of a feeling and much less scientific, I think people consider that a quick pace but not quite threshold, but there isn't a great definition.
@@allie_ostrander Thanks for the detail, Allie. Great info. Is your HRmax around 195? Looks like you are targeting a 20-25 second range around 90% of max? I'm probably better off targeting 85% of max... I'm sure my lactate buffering is not quite developed to the level yours is. 🙂👍
Stay 💪💪👍👍💯🥇🏆
What shorts do you run in?
NNormal women’s race shorts ☺️
Do the 200's tear up the soles of your shoes? I think they do to vf 3's
I haven't noticed that, but my shoes are only a month old at this point.
BOFs are my favorite meals😋😋
so easy and tasty!
She is racing on my b day lol
11th may
Leave no regrets on the track!
I'm the last guy to blow smoke at you re making the Oly team, which is admittedly a long shot, but I disagree your odds are "1%". If you get to the OT finals, and the race develops such that you are in contact with third with 400m to go, I wouldn't bet against you. Coburn's absence definitely opens up everyone else's prospects. Frerichs is training but her race fitness is unknown to most; leaving Gear and Wayment as the favorites. For 3rd, there's about half a dozen with a real shot - Markezich and Jennings being the overall fastest of that group - and I don't see any of them as clearly quicker than you over the last 200 - 400m (certainly not Hallady or Hyde). The key is whether you can stay within striking distance that late in the race. Guess we'll learn more this weekend!
greater than 1% odds? I'll take it.
