I think he was just showcasing stereotypical versions of the accent. I have heard many different accents from these countries. In Puerto Rico you pretty much get your accent at random since it's so small. I speak different than a lot of my family members who are not as educated. I pronounce my RR correctly where as my father uses the J sound whenever he can. This comes from French influence most likely. The Cuban accent is similar to ones that i have heard but a lot of eastern cubans sound similar to dominicans. Also when speaking properly añl 3 can sound a like with the exception of the eastern cubans and some dominicans who talk with a singy songy cadence. Even thiugh carribeans generally shorten their words I noticed Dominicans do it the most. Puerto Ricans will say "adonde tu ehtabah" (replacing s with a breath and r for l sound unless speaking formally we will pronounce r correctly.) or "vamoh a comel" dominicans might say "donde tu taba" or "vamo come". It depends on education level though each island has well spoken individuals but as far as slang goes eastern cubans and dominicans have the most shortening of words. This is also why they speak faster. We all get our accent from Sevilla,Spain and the Canary islands mostly with few other african, native and european influence. Many people from the islands can get confused for locals at first impression in Seville and Tenerife. Seville is where the first spaniards to the americas came from. Coastal colombians, Venezuelans, Ecuadorians, Panamanians, Chileans and Argenitinans have similar accents because of canarian ancestry as well. As for Mexicans I have heard so many different accents. This one was super stereotypical but most the mexicans I know drag their words since they are from Puebla and Morelos.
